One of the most common pains associated with scoliosis is shoulder pain. It is, in fact, more common than headaches and back pain. Shoulder pain is also a telltale sign that scoliosis has progressed and worsened.
In the case of adolescent idiopathic scoliosis, shoulder pain or any pain is uncommon. Usually, adolescents will feel dull pain, especially if their scoliosis is located in the thoracic area. However, there is more pain for adult scoliosis patients because the cause of it is the progression of their scoliosis throughout their lives and the effect of gravity in their spine over time.
Scoliosis shoulder pain can cause tightness, soreness, radiating pain through the arms, and even numbness in some cases. Patients often opt for massages to relieve their pain, but in the long run, massages are ineffective because it only addresses the pain as a symptom of scoliosis.
Dr. Tony Nalda's approach to scoliosis shoulder pain is treating the root of the pain, which entails an adjustment to the spine to remove the pressure. The treatment also includes personalized passive therapy, active therapy, home prescribed exercises, and corrective bracing, combining the treatments based on the patient's particular scoliosis presentation.
Dr. Nalda recommends patients who have been diagnosed with scoliosis, especially adult patients with upper spine scoliosis, to take a more proactive approach in their treatment to avoid scoliosis shoulder pain and unnecessary procedures.

    When I was 17 I injured my spinal cord starting at the C4. I suffered a contusion to the spine, it was sprained and swollen and I had severe whiplash and scoliosis from it. I'm not 37 and the doctors I deal with now just burn the lumbar nerves to stop sciatic pain that runs to my toes. I've been telling them that they need to check my whole spine because I've been getting severe migraines to the point of me having vomiting and can't do anything but lay in a cold dark room until I can function again. My ribs have been hurting for the last year and now it's affecting my breathing when I sleep. It feels like a knife thing through the back of my shoulder blade through my spine to the front and side parts of my rib cage. At this point I don't know how else to tell these doctors that I'm in severe pain. I'm literally crying out at this point and I have children to raise between 1 and five. They say they will send in referrals for an MRI however nothing changes. What can I do to help ease the pain. I've begged for traction as that feels great but they say no. I'm so lost and tried.

    I never thought about how my scoliosis could be the reason behind my shoulder pain. For the longest time I’ve had this pain underneath my shoulder blade that just burns and throbs and I have scoliosis in all 3 sections of my spine making an S curve, when they diagnosed it, it was mild but seeing as that was over 8 years ago it could have progressed. I should definitely get new X-rays or something since my back is giving me hell lately. Thanks for the info.

    I've had scoliosis since I was 17 - that's when it was identified. Now nearing 40 years of age. Can it be corrected as indicated in the video after all this time? Apparently, it was not a severe case at all but I do have significant shoulder issues, shoulder blade instability and always knots and tightening of the traps and neck pain. What type of doctor would one seek out for consultation? Thank you for taking the time to read this comment.

    My Scoliosis is classed as very significant. I do not know if that is moderate or severe. But experience pains in neck,shoulders,back, legs , buttocks ,ribs ,stomach and i get headaches due to bulging disc, this us the only thing I get treatment for when the headaches are constant and that treatment is Radio Frequency Denervation. Due to loss of height in all levels and 4 bulging discs, the risks outweigh the benefit according to my Orthopaedic consultant so my curve will just be left to do as it please!😟

    I have a strange question. Can scoliosis affect teeth development or cause dental problems?

  • @ScoliosisReductionCenter

    @ScoliosisReductionCenter

    4 ай бұрын

    There is currently no conclusive evidence that scoliosis directly affects teeth development or causes dental problems. However, some studies have shown a possible correlation between scoliosis and certain dental issues, such as: Malocclusion: This is a general term for misalignment of the teeth. Some studies have found that people with scoliosis are more likely to have certain types of malocclusion, such as an uneven bite or crowded teeth. Temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders: These are problems with the jaw joint, which can cause pain, clicking, and difficulty chewing. Some research suggests that people with scoliosis may be at an increased risk for TMJ disorders. It's important to note that these studies are observational, meaning they can't prove that scoliosis causes these dental problems. It's also possible that other factors, such as genetics or posture, may play a role. To find out more about our approach, kindly visit: www.scoliosisreductioncenter.com/treatment-approach.
