    Great to see it fire up Dean. It amazes me how complicated modern car engines are to service and repair. The number of pipes and sensors that are totally inaccessible without a major strip down is unbelievable. Good job you have the benefit of VAG training and know a lots of tricks of the trade, only known by actually doing the job 👍😎

    That genuine happy face at the point it started up had me chuckling away - there is the face of a man that had no doubts that it would fire up LMFAO. Love it. Great work fella and another great vid. Keep them coming.

    if you forget to prime the turbo and dont want to re disturb the banjo bolt crush washers, use something to stop the turbo blade from spinning while the engine is started, something like a wooden serving spoon or similar, once the engine is running and oil has circulated, reconnect everything and job done.

    The cam "sensor" you talk about is the N205 - it's a solenoid for the VVT. It doesn't stop starting. The ignition just needs turned over a few times and the fuel rail bled of air which is what that squeaky door noise is when you turn the key. That fuel rail holds nearly 200ml so it takes a long time for the injectors to purge the air and let fuel pressure build.

    There is a set of tools that hold the crank fast on the bell house.(there is a hole on top with a timing mark in it.) And a tool to hold the cams on the opposite end from the pulley.

    Lol how can you say the oil filter housing is a crap design when you're doing everything wrong with it. There's a drain nipple on the bottom of the filter cap that prevents that mess and you're meant to install the filter into the cap, not the housing.

  • @SavingSalvage

    @SavingSalvage

    2 жыл бұрын

    Because I don’t have the tool to drain it 😂.. and also it still makes a bit of a mess even if you drain it. And draining it takes ages. So I stand by my original statement 🤣. EA888 oil filter is much better.

  • @grahamek86

    @grahamek86

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@SavingSalvage If you press the nipple with a Philips head and angle it backwards towards the block, the drain bung locks open and drains cleanly into the container below. Once it stops dripping, push it up again and center it and it'll lock back down and seal. The only time I've made a mess is when the cap that screws in with the little tether has fallen down and interrupted the flow and sent oil in all direction. The EA888s are messy if you open them too quick and it's almost impossible to clean up all the spillage, with the 113 it's at least at the bottom of the engine so if it gets on the coolant hoses etc you can just drown it in brake cleaner.
