With an engine that bad u gotta use a brush or some sort of agitation.

Yes it works like a charm. MUST warm engine first, not hot, just warm. Spray well and walk away for 20-30 minutes and spray with some pressure. You will absolutely notice the difference.

I like the Gunk brand citrus degreaser in a pump bottle! Warm up the engine first but it’s less corrosive and smells nice

My 2005 gto was about 5yrs old when I used that stuff. After rinsing it off, my belt tensioner was screaming bloody murder. It could have been on the way out, and that pushed it over, but I was pissed. Had less than 35k miles on it.

Dude sprayed it right into the alternator 🤦🏼‍♂️

And how many times have I used GUNK and sprayed it directly on the Alternator and never had ANY KIND OF PROBLEMS !

Good advice because most of the time when i leave to go to work i don't say goodbye or cuddle with him and something was just telling me today i need to stop that, so now before i go to work i know he wants to cuddle for at least a couple of minutes.

when i was a kid my dad had a 72 f-100 pick up and hewould pour gas on the engine and never understood why. but now I know.

Gasoline is an awesome degreaser. On an engine IA questionable but hey old heads new a lot of smart shit... even if it was smart lol

he says Gunk like he's never heard of it. Bruh! That's the best. Just don't saturate belt tensioner pully bearings, or you'll need to replace them.

You have to agitate the gunk while degreaser is sitting on it plus using compressed air or leaf blower first before you put anything on it helps too!

Gasoline and compressed air works great. Gasoline has detergents in it which breaks down grease and oil, and it also leaves a rust inhibiting film after it evaporates off. Just don’t use it on hot/warm engines.

The main ingredient in the engine cleaner is Kerosene. You can also use oven cleaner WARNING!!! be careful with rubber parts. The oven cleaner has LYE in it and will kick most rubber parts ass..

Let's clean years of neglect in 10 minutes 😅 I don't think so. Considering the amount of dirt on that engine & the way you used the product, it did an excellent job.

Simple green is the best stuff that I have ever used I use that and after everything dries I spray wd-40 and then take an old rag that's clean of course and it makes everything shine and look brand new

I'm surprised nobody else has agreed with you, I think degreaser and WD 40 are quite effective!!

I bought some of this BEFORE reading the warnings in the back lol... scary shit on there. I decided to return it. Dry Clean (Brush+Vac)... Wet Clean (Water+Wipe... Soapy Water+ Brushes)... Spray Off. Looks bran new. Took longer to do but nothing beats Elbow Grease and Love #ChrisFix 🤟🇨🇦

Gunk isn’t anything as good as it used to be . The original brush on gunk was a dark brown colour and when It came into contact with water , it would turn viscous . That stuff worked amazingly well . The new stuff is a translucent red colour and it doesn’t work nearly as well as the old stuff . The new stuff is basically glorified power washer soap

Thanks for the warning I really appreciate it plus it's probably been duted and broken down because of the EPA.Maybe I'll drive up to Canada and clean my engine off up there,they don't have any EPA rules up there.

My step dad had a blue dodge Dakota just like that one, is name was Rob, he lived in Washington.

Detailers have better products for stuff like this. A pressure washer works great. But if you don't have one a good degreaser with soap and a brush works good too.

The manual car wash bay with its high pressure spray wand used to be the way. The old timers would put plastic bags over the alternator and distributer....With the newer cars with all the electronics it may be a bad idea.

the dressing stuff they make for after you clean it really does keep it looking clean too.

It works.. just have to use pressure washer or steam clean it. Either will take care it.

SEE the problem you have is that the engage is not greasy enough, its more rusty!

Simple green or the jungle jake from the local farm and barn seem to be the best thing for a quick soak and rinse type engine cleaning in my experience. Then I just spray anything metal down with a bit of spray lube along with hitting any pulleys with it. Also try not to hose down the alternator and starter too much, they don't ever seem to appreciate it.

Easy off oven cleaner is the same stuff only cheaper but I like the way gunk sprays, I’ve never tried the gel, always used the stuff that foams.

The stuff works great in my experience but be very careful when spraying that stuff on shiny aluminum parts, especially your master cylinder reservoir or an intake for instance. Was a pain getting all the orange corrosion off my new edelbrock intake.

Gunk is an overpriced easy off oven cleaner that does a ok job. Simple green works alot better.

Quit buying that crap. Just go to the dollar store and get some cheap, used to be $1, oven cleaner. Simple

I use tire cleaner on my 04 Chevy came out really clean

Need to pressure wash it off or hose it off and if you don’t the dirt degreases but it sits on the engine bay and everything else.

Gunk is petroleum-based and can do damage to electrical parts. Such as starter alternator.

Best degreaser I’ve used but I used a power washed I’m going to go over it again everything is taped up and it has no engine I’m doing an ls swap and need it painted

Check the pcv valve too prevents oil blow back

Warm engine, a bit of pressurized water and thats it.

I've attempted to clean up greasy engine bays with this stuff before and it was basically useless. If you spray it on, let it sit, and rinse it off like this, it doesn't clean anything that the hose alone wouldn't. If you pressure wash it off, same deal, no better than just pressure washing in the first place. Simple green is far better, and if you want something that cuts oil and grease fast, mineral spirits does the trick.

It works great with some scrubbing read the can 😂

Does it start up now? You didn't cover the electrical and alternator and prevented them from getting wet. I hope you didn't have to buy a new alternator.

I use Bilt Hamber Surfex HD. Water based, biodegradable, non-toxic. I have just used it so far on parts, not on the whole engine but it works extremely well. I did not bother with dilution, just used it full strength.

The foam shit is great

You used it while the engine was still hot. Next time use the gunk spray when engine is cold.

Don’t clean your engine this way, and especially don’t use water. Or any liquid unless it’s oil. ESPECIALLY if its an old motor. Just look at it like this, if you clean all that gunk off by spraying chemicals on then spraying it with water, When it drys, all of your hoses and rubber gaskets that came in contact with the water and degreaser will start to crack. All of your sensors will start to malfunction and the you will have created a big headache of a problem. ESPECIALLY Purple power.

Use oven cleaner it’s waaaaaaay better and cheaper

Did not cover the engine well enough with the gunk missed a lot of spots on the engine. Try it again and make sure you spray everything down real good.

You're gonna have to spray it down real good. I'd check and see if you mightve sprayed near your cabin filter

Perhaps cover the alternator?

Run the engine until warm and shut off. Then spray with cleaner. Work mo better.

Hope you disconnected your negative battery terminal....

NEVER spray your engine with high pressure water. Especially newer cars.

Run the engine up to operating temperature. Spray it on. Let it sit for 20. Spray it off. The smell is atrocious, and it works...ok. Not the best.

If you can see the ground when you look in the engine bay and there is no engine splash shield thats a 100% walk away. All the grime off the road salt and rust.

It works great. Use on a warm engine. Also use a hard bristle brush, don't just leave it on. The dirt/ grease won't disappear on its own.

Well, you didn't read instructions I bet because you didn't know how long you are suppose to let it sit.

The Foam works better

You did it all wrong, go to a car wash ( powerful spray) spray the engine with water. Apply the Gunk Degreaser and let it sit for 15 minutes. Wash it down. You'll get a better result.

Oil and grease on engine and engine bay keeps the rust at bay. The cleanest part of my car from rust is the engine bay. Why clean something that offers no visual value?

not everyone has an expensive pressure washer and it can very easily damage components gash belts and hoses and force water into bad places. Many people can't be careful enough to be a good idea

weed sprayer . Kerosene, cheap dollar store laundry detergent, & Dawn Soap .... BEST ENGINE DEGREASER EVER ! Shake & Spray . leave overnight . rinse next day .

Hell no you’ll get a lot farther with gas diesel or kerosene I bought fix can and followed the directions this shit sucks don’t waist your money
