I watched for the first time last night actually,i wasn't even aware this film existed! I seen the Lord of The Rings Cartoon so im definitely familiar with Ralph Bakshis work. And ofcoars Fritz the Cat which........wow.....no...im not going there🤣

Actually, your best bet for the arrow/hand placement would be to put the back part of the arrow through the front part of his hand, I believe that was the designers initial intent as it resembles the way a real archer would hold a nocked arrow.

Yeah, the feathers should be in front of the knuckles, not inside the palm.

A couple audio glitches just a minute in

two things I'd like to point out: 1. Dark Wolf, to me at least, looks like a better design for a fantasy style Batman than anything we've gotten so far. 2. I hate to be that guy, but I think your microphone is crying out for a mercy killing!

fingers dont go in front of the "feathers" or fletching when you shoot a bow and arrow. you hold the nock (thats the thing that creates the notch that catches the bow string).

Dan, try using a little lighter fluid on a paper towel to wipe off those silver paint drops on Darkwolf's lower leg. I bet that takes the silver off with no worries. Lighter fluid will not harm the plastic in anyway, and it completely evaporates very, very quickly.

Hi Dan. Thanks for the video. It is an awesome figure. I believe that you are just supposed to insert the back nock of the arrow between the two fingers instead of sliding the whole arrow through. This would be less stressful to hand and the arrow and be more accurate to how you actually fire a bow and arrow.

Fire and Ice is awesome. If you are ever in eartern PA you gotta visit the Frazetta Museum. It's ran by his son and has a ton of his original art, it's pretty awesome. Also kind of in the middle of nowhere because it's at his house lol. Worth a stop if you are in the area though.

Teegra and her Panther are coming by the look of it! And with the arrow hand I was just placing the end of the arrow in the top of the hand and that works really well in holding that pose. Rather than pushing the whole arrow through

Another use for the arrow holding hand is he uses it to stick the two fingers up the nostrils of the decapitated heads he cuts off with his battle axe & thats how he carries them around ;)

I personally think the mouth alternatives are a game changer and I could see the other companies copying this in the future.

Facts

Im a huge Frank Frezetta fan and this figure is 100% up my alley, but the price point absolutely kills it for me. If it was the same price as a NECA ultimate it would be a no-brainer for me, but damn 80 to 90 is absurd

I really miss your MOTU Classics reviews from back in the day, but videos like these hit the spot for me. This is a great figure and great review as always, Dan. Really excited for more from this team. Eamon teased the female and cat figures in one of his videos.

Awesome figure for sure from a great movie. The price point in a little steep but it is made with great quality. I hope they make the rest of the figures!!!

He also scales really well with the Mezco Conan figures. Yeah, he's a little taller but he could just be a giant Pict or a Cimmerian cousin.

The fact they made a fully poseable figure from a mostly obscure fantasy film of the 80s is pretty awesome! Also, when I say “mostly obscure” I mean that not a lot of people, including those in their 40s or 50s know this film. I understand there is a cult following but it’s not as large as some others I’ve encountered.

Talks about how he's "nekky" underneath. Proceeds to show us his ball... sockets.

That isn't how you shoot arrows. Might want to revisit.

How did I never know fire & ice was a Collab between Ralph Bakshi and Frank Frazetta? I just watched it recently and while its not perfect it IS essentially Frank Frazetta's amazing poster/painting work come to life and it is GLORIOUS in it's own way.

Do you know what he’s screaming in the thumbnail? “WHY DO I COST SOOOO MUCH?!?”

@@NickDoobs I agree this figure is pricey. I picked it up for less than 60 when first announced. But I can’t think of a marvel legends that even comes close to this type of figure. Mezco Conan is similar but that’s 100.

You know i actually watched Fire and Ice for the very first time last night!! I wasn't even aware this movie existed until my steo dad showed it to me. Now im very familer with Ralph Bakshi's films, The Lord of The Rings Cartoon is something i greatly enjoyed. But i wasn't aware of Fire and Ice and i actually liked it😊

I am happy I got my figure so soon. The preorder was worth it.

He won't be on my shelf with any other figures until I get more figures from Frazetta Girls. That's my goal. Can't wait to see what they do next.

This looks awesome, especially for a first attempt at the action figure market. My only criticism is that the plastic is a bit shinier than it probably should be.

Good review, Dan! I'm getting that figure for sure after watching the review. I am enjoying the current comic book run of Fire and Ice, too. I recommend it.

One of the boot tops on my figure was misaligned as well, but it wasn't glued down so I was able to shift it down and around to fit snug with the foot

Same here. I had to wiggle it a bit, but it was a pretty easy fix when all was said and done.

Ralph Bakshi was the one that did all the animations for the film

I can’t remember if you mentioned it, but the shoulders have a swivel instead of a bicep cut. Basically it’s like the hip swivel. Also, those boots should not be glued mind freely, slide up and down for flexing the ankle up and down and make room for it.

Are we getting future Frezetta style Conan figures from them not from Mezco?

And we thought Brian at S7 charged too much!

hey man, can the feather end of the arrow fit through the front of the fingers? That way it's actually realistic and it would be way way easir to pose, and would not damage the arrows

the film's apparently animated, but the figure looks so live action I love when stuff like this happens. It's the same thing with Premium DNA in Battletoads and Earthworm Jim, and Storm Collectibles with Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter: they take smt that in those cases was pixelated and make it look the opposite. the figure's a great one, but Idrk if I want it. we'll have to see if I change my mind (I definitely want Battletoads and Mortal Kombat tho. no doubt abt that)

I don't even think you're supposed to slide the arrow between the fingers, unless you want to damage the figure.

Hi Pixel Dan! I don't know much about the Character, but that Dark Wolf Figure looked Fabulous! And not mentioning, it kind of reminded me of Conan the Barbarian! 😎😎😎👍👍

When I saw this figure I wanted to know how he'd compare to Masters Classics and Masterverse, I'm glad Pixel Dan of all people did a review. Unfortunately it's a little too expensive and I don't have the love for the source material some others do, still an amazing figure.

On that price point shouldnt be having all those small issues. Great video as usual. Hello from Panama.

Oh Dan........ You've never shot a bow, have you? Not how you hold an arrow. It likely fits pretty well if held properly. Push the back end in from the front.

There's gonna be a Teegra, at least. You can see it in Eamon O'donohue's video where he breaks down the Darkwolf prototype, in the background. Looks like she will come with a jungle cat accessory. Hopefully it does well enough to continue with more characters.

If this was on the $40-50 range I would pick this up, the price point is close to a Mezco, so I would rather get a Mezco which has soft goods, this is just my opinion, but the figure looks awesome, if it came with soft goods I could see why it would be that high in price, but it doesn't, so I will pass only because of the price.

Lots of slack given to this.Dan. I know you're not going to trash anything, but you really said "it's okay" and "not a big deal" quite a bit here. There's a lot wrong QC-wise with this figure. Maybe you should have gotten a replacement for the review instead of apologizing for the flaws.
