Does CORN Work better than Powerbait? Beginner Trout Fishing

Спорт

Does corn work better for trout fishing than powerbait? As a beginner when it comes to trout fishing, I want to find out. After waiting for the river water to recede, i get to trout fishing with the corn. I manage to hook into three trout but only land two of them. One of the trout is a nice sized brown trout! I made it a point to not try the powerbait this trip and it still worked out. I caught what is probably my biggest brown trout to date. Unfortunately it jumped out of my hands before I could measure it. Can beginners catch trout on corn instead of powerbait? Yes! Does it work better? I am still not sure.

I grew up fishing for trout on corn. It may have been because I could only afford the hook and had corn in the garden, but always had good luck. Another great video. 👍

I doubt it's still as pristine but one can only hope.

Nice brownie! I would try a slip float rig, especially for that water. Just put a slip float above the swivel and set the stop so the sinker sits about a foot off the bottom. Gives the bait a natural drift presentation and you can cover a lot more water with that current.

Powerbait is extremely effective for rainbow trout. Especially when rigged with a weightless octopus hook. And attached to a bobber. Use 2 feet of line between the bobber and hook.

@@RealisticFishing the lake or river seems to me a bit quite and there is not enough current to make it float especially if you have slip shot or weight on. After this video, I watch many of your videos regarding trout and I realized that you should be aware of this because you seems to be expert in trout fishing, and you mentioned in one of your videos that the bait should be floating few feets above the ground.

I find that the main difference between using corn vs power bait is that trout will swallow power bait but short strike corn. Stocked trout will take off running with power bait but with corn the hit at it kinda like fishing for catfish. It helps to hold your rod so you can set the hook when they hit the corn. If we are using power bait we put our rods in rod holders and just let the trout hook themselves! Nice area your fishing!!!!

Not true...fishing with corn the right way I have never had a rainbow that didn't have the hook swallowed way down so you catch only what you want to keep and at times it is so bad that you have to cut the head off to get the hook out
