There is a funny but true story about painter Josip Generalic, a customer came to his shop, and ordered a painting of a rooster in his famous style, he replied to his customer come again here in two weeks...after two weeks the customer returned and asked for the rooster painting and Generalic told him to sit and have a cup of coffee and a biscuit and within one hour he started painting and finished the painting of the rooster, he did it in front of his customer. The customer was startled and asked for the price and Generalic told him 10000 DEM (german marks, a lot of money in late 80s). The customer was upset and said 10000 DEM for an hour of work it is too much and wise Generalic replied, "it took me 30 years of practice to be able to finish this kind of work within an hour", the ashamed customer paid 15000 DEM...:D

But you show us an evidence that proves the very opposite, which is really gold worth. I want to see you collaborating/discussing with "Gamers Nexus" or/and "Actually Hardcore Overclocking". Hardware is not really trustworthy, with any manufacturer who focuses on maximizing profits. Planned obsolescence can be implemented in a number of ways. Pretty obvious, like badly designed coolers. Or more inconspicuous, such as Components that are too cheap or not sufficiently specified for a task (Like minimal permanent overload, that will destroy the component over time).

@@northwestrepair Actually just saw one of your newer vids answered my question right after I typed this! Haha
I thought artifacts are caused by bad solder joints on the core chip. Being an usual issue with the memory makes it, so that like maybe 80%+ of faulty GPU can be repaired without BGA reballing on the core chip - amazing!
I love how you keep using that same woman in the thumbnail.
just wondering sir what games do you play on your PC now adays ?
That housing (which you place on top of the core) with which you desolder-solder the GPU core. Did you make that? I noticed, you fix your hot air handle on top. But I never saw much of the housing which stands on top of your GPU chip.
Re-balling those behemoths is such a tedious task. We got the super speed version, but how much does it take you to re-ball a GPU (without the rest of the work involved) ?

same goes for brand new GPU's. They just break regardless of being brand new or old. Too old, i can see that being a problem but less then 10 years, age is not a factor.
That Reball time lapse....I've been there. One solder ball combines with the adjacent one. Trying to wick it causes others to get wicked. Sometimes it's just falling domino's. What temperature do you use for the top hot air when taking off and putting on?

all manufacturers changed warranty terms after the 2018 mining craze, even evga which is (was) supposed to be the best for warranty support if the owner bought a scalped one off ebay or whatever the warranty is not transferable to second-hand owners. dunno the specific in the states but in EU there's no way around it as purchases are tied to something similar to american SSNs. also they find countless ways to deny warranty. edge of pcb slightly scraped due to factory mounting bracket? warranty denied.

@@jeen0351 AFAIK, in EU, manufacturer must prove the damage was done by customer. You may open the card, repaste it, change thermal pads... after all, it´s your property. Warranties can get complicated. If you buy used card, you can apply your warranty to the seller, if you have his credentials. It depends on the model. Each manufacturer has some skeletons in closet. Look at Gigabyte Eagle. Plastic backplate... But even as it is, each GPU has a potential to withstand everything thrown at it. It all depends on luck and invididual quality of each component on it. If you´re unlucky, your GPU will either arrive DOA or die within hours of use. If you´re lucky, the GPU will work for years and refuse to die. Sometimes, there is a defect hidden somewhere, which passed through QC undetected and it will reveal itself later during use. But that´s why warranties exist.
