    Man you need to charge additional for those pads if you're not. You should also charge for customizing pad thickness. You're not fixing a light bulb - you're fixing a board with an insane amount of layers and complex circuitry! Then on top of that you're not just throwing on spec pads and sending the gpu back - you're making sure everything is perfect for cooling and longevity.

    I wonder, how much time did you spend repairing it? Also, when you do something that doesn't fix the issue, like re-balling the die itself, does this increase repair cost much? Asking because I recently discovered that it costs ~$120 locally to re-ball a GPU die, regardless whether it fixes things or not...

I understand that doesn't necessarily translate to quality of the part, but why might this be?

  • @fleurdewin7958

    @fleurdewin7958

    Жыл бұрын

    @@SkateClipsAndTips Not to say not worth the time. It is not even doable. Lets say you have a RTX4070Ti, many AIB partner PCB has 2 unoccupied pads for memory chips because they share PCB with the RTX4080 that can populate all 8 of the memory pads. You only see 6 memory chips soldered to the board because it is running on a 192bit memory bus. Each memory chip contribute 32bit to the total memory bus width. Even if you go solder another 2 memory chips to the PCB, it is not connected to the memory controller in the GPU silicon, because the AD104 silicon max out at 192bit memory bus. You can either put 6 or 12 memory chips to hit that 192bit memory bus. Nvidia will also physically fused off memory controllers in the silicon in the case of the 8GB version of RTX3060, you cant put 6 memory chips to enable 192bit memory bus from a 128bit .

So the last time the cat who owned her never had a picture again after the last re-paste on the water block. But those resistors may have been the cause of the memory chip failure @ c-0. Costing Renaldo money. A water block would certainly let her run flat out.
