We have five kids. None of them have any interests that require us to drive them around constantly. I’m honestly grateful for that. We live close to all their schools so they walk to most school activities. I know plenty of parents that are their kids taxi and they look exhausted. I will drive them and friends places if they ask I don’t mind. It’s not like when I was a kid in the 70s/80s where we would take the train or just walk long distances if need be. Good evening everyone 🍻

My kids are grown adults now but, they didn’t do any activities until middle school when my daughter played volleyball and my son played football for a year then, my daughter was in choir during high school. We lived on a farm until they were 13 and 11 so they spent their time riding bikes, helping with farm chores, and playing outside. It was a pretty cheap way to entertain them during their childhood 😊

You get to be in charge of your life Sebastian... you don't have to entertain the children to the furthest reaches of their minds... they can learn piano at home, learn to enjoy reading a paper copy of a book, listen to records on the record player, enjoy a picnic in the back yard, talk and discuss things... Why exhaust yourself? It is such a thing these days. Yet, on the other hand, you are making amazing memories... yet make sure you eat right, get enough down time, make sure you are healthy so you can enjoy.

My daughter was in softball, played flute, clarinet, (band), swimming lessons, and diving lessons before she ended up going into the Air Force. My son took violin (orchestra), taekwondo, computer courses, some football, and a year of physical training every week before going into the Marines. Most Moms and Dads I knew tried to keep it to only 2 activities per week per child. I was working, and my husband was on active duty, so basically, I was their Uber (aka Cab Driver) for about two decades! Do I miss it? Definitely!

My little guy was in baseball, highschool marching band (all 4 years) cub scouts, boy scouts, drum lessons, highschool stage band (again all 4 years) they both took judo classes for 4 years and I'm sure I forgot a bunch of crap. I wore out a few cars getting them every where they had to go. Oh and yes, they both went to college and they both were involved in college activities as well. Both kids are doing great. It's worth the effort and loss of sleep.

We do just couple things (which have shifted over time) and our life is very manageable. I understand wanting to keep kids busy and exposing them to experiences but is there also downtime (for everyone!)? Is there time to be a kid? What do they want to do? How do parents want to live? If there’s too much early on kids can be burned out by the time they get to High School. Recommend the book Simplicity Parenting by Kim John Payne and his website of the same name.

Welcome to the world of kid’s chauffeurs!!…My daughter did soccer, cheerleading, & lacrosse…..driving her around everyday to practices, games & competitions on weekends…then she got her license and I finally got a break!🤣🤣🤣…..stay strong Sebastian!💪💪🤪🤪
Yup mommy and daddy become Uber drivers 😂😂
I WISH I DID MORE OF THIS FOR MY KIDS, BUT I WAS TOO BUSY WITH MY PROJECTS. ❤
100% facts. No time to ourselves until they turn 16+

Yep so true, by that age. They'll beg you to let them. Go home and sleep. 😅

I don't know...I'd trade chauffeuring them around than staying up until they get home after they get the DL. Or when they are out with the car...almost every time the phone would ring my heart would stop. Just for a second, but it would.
“Yeah, I’ll get your glove”…the love of a tired Uber driver dad ❤.
It’s gets worst Sebastian. Gotta do the snack thing. Practice thing. Buy all the fund raiser candy rather than door to door sales! 😮

And if they join Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts, you'll have cookies and popcorn up to your ears! My mom made us go door-to-door selling cookies in the 60's until the entire station wagon was EMPTY of cookies! 🍪 Ah, memories!
Yes! I hear you. My grandchildren participate in so many activities after school, that my head spins. I can’t even keep track of anything. And my kids complain that they’re tired because they work full time. Really?
Welcome to every Mom’s life!
At 50 years old - those “driver days” were over by 8 years - they drive themselves. You started really late - so hang in there there guy, if you can.
They will grow up way too quickly, and you’ll find that you miss all of those moments with them. Mine are grown and I miss them everyday.
Oh my, it gets much better... Praise God, Michael
It Ain't Right!!!!!😅😅😅
Sebastian your the last of the Mohicans! I hear my Chicago relatives in your accent. I can’t wait for another Netflix special!
The "joys" of being a parent. But enjoy it as you can. It will go by faster than you know it!
If it's interfering with homework, sit down to table meal time, family time... ask yourself... With whom and where your time was spent and what you cherish in your childhood and 🙏🏻 and you'll know the answer 😊♥️! It Ain't Right ... Lonely Elderly Parent(s).
Sebastian, my life as a Mommy. Was filled with activities constantly. From Karate to Football to Cheerleading. Anytime I could get to my car and just close my eyes. If only for 15 minutes, I did it. Well, guess what, my kids are officially grown. I'm telling you. Before you know it. You'll say, when did you guys get so grown? So good luck, drive your car here there, and everywhere. Just embrace it and smile. 💯🚗 ❤
Love these mini videos… hysterical 🤣
We feel your pain, Sebastian. Keep up the great work! 🎉
My kids joining one thing the United States military. He’s off to boot camp this fall. 😞

👍👏♥️🇺🇸
Now we limit to one activity per day during weekdays. Sat is jammed with activities (3) and sunday has only one in thr morning so we can rest for the rest of the day. It is going to be like this for a while...... Better get use to the role😂😂😂😂😂😂
I love these videos! Exactly how I feel!
It’s a part of the parenting package. Don’t worry by the time they are grown up and out of the house your memories tend to fade and the ubering times seem less onerous. Kudos to you at starting fatherhood at an older age and you seem to have your family priorities right. Looking forward to hearing the comic views during your tour. Your human behavior observations are spot on.
What a great cartoon series you could create with all of this lol like an "F is For Family" type show
My mom and dad didn’t take me anywhere. Those mfers was working. My bike took me everywhere.
“So how long have you been doing Uber!?” 😂 I also have store in East Ambule lmao 🤣
His face when the kids are screaming their asses off 🤣
Thank you for reminding me that those days are over for this grandma.
Lol🤣🤣🤣. The stage will be Sebastian’s best friend!!!! Lol.
Oh yeah! I was Mom’s taxi for years. It changes. I’m an empty nester now and I love it. I pick up my grandson once or twice a week as needed. I have 5 gran kids, only one lives in the same country as me. Enjoy! 👍
Can’t see your dad ever being a helicopter dad 😂 You turned out alright.
Definitely!
“Once you have a kids it’s not about you anymore! It’s about them”. When your friend told you this before you married, he didn't make it clear whether it will be with or without your will .😂
😂 you don't look happy . Just another chore of parenting. At least you're being a good and loving father so that counts for something. Real Love isn't always easy.❤
Holy shit at over 50 years old? Not a chance Seb.
Don’t ever change Sebastian, so enjoy these mini videos!
It’s about Dad’s age during this time. She was 5 and I was 50 when we decided to drop everything else and focus on one thing. Now she’s 12 and a level 10 gymnast.
What's a little rain? 😂
It's too much these days. Pick maximum 3 activities. That's more than enough, I think. You already look tired enough, gotta be able to keep up for the long run, man. God Bless you Sebastian.🙏🍀✌️
Sebs, a Chicago native, complaining about the clouds??? Cmon now!
Growing up it was a taxi driver or limo driver now it's uber driver 😂
I have become my kids and wife’s Uber driver. Also, here in HK, most kids take a school bus but it ain’t cheap!
Oh your face. I know that face. I’m at dance right now. I love my kids !!!!
Sebastian not cut out for that😂
God Bless you......
Dude! You look worn out for the day😂😂😂😂😂
Jui jitsu each day....best convos ever. Stay involved n find the positive....its about your time since you brought them into the world and also removes the chance of them growing up as an adult nobody likes. It pays off. I bought a porsche...it's about the ride not the journey to get there. Best
my father got me a cat mini bike 4 horse power when I was 12 years old my father was a very smart man .i was never home to ask him for a ride anywhere. best times of my childhood. at the time gas was 30 cents a gallon. we would mow lawns one day and ride like hell the rest of the week.in the old days you would not be seen dead riding to school with your mommy and daddy. man how the times have changed.
Wait,it gets crazier, even as they get older..now this Fall, off to College, more things to come. Honestly, it's great. Enjoy, take vitamins, lots it helps.😂😂😂❤❤❤
throw in 4H club and band and everything else and you are thier personal drivers! I was never driven to any activities but then I got into too much trouble so drive Sebastian!! See you next month in ATL ❤
OMG, where do I start? My boys were 4 years apart. The big guy played football, track and field, wrestling,he was in the school choir, he was in boy scouts, guitar lessons, and his own band.
Does anyone else think the Nanny does all the driving and this happens to be the ONE day his wife asked him to help?!!
Ha 😂My advice (I’m about to become a grandma) is to let them do a bunch of things early on but then nip it in the bud - make them decide on one or two things so they actually get good at it (not just get a trophy/award for showing up). Love your work!
I can hear you saying, “Hey, Coach, you think it’s a good idea to have the kids holding metal bats when it’s getting ready to lightning?” Coach: “You’re right, Sebastian. Have the kids grab all the bats and have them hide under the tree until the storm passes.” ⚡️ Sebastian: 🤦🏻♂️
My friend calls himself a “Gruber” driver as he is a Grandfather that runs his grandkids around. 😂
After-school activities are good to a point, but they still need ample time to do homework and dinner with the family.
I am 46, will be 47 this month and my parents would say the same thing way back when I was in Junior High & HS. That’s life! 🤷🏻♀️ I have a cousin who’s 14 yr old daughter is excelling in gymnastics and they are busy all week and weekends and it is crazy expensive.
Activities are good. Set limits.
Then...Grandkids 😁
Yes 🙌🏽 I was a slave to my daughter and her friends but it was worth it because they were safe and still are!! 😅😅 it’s worth it!
Tell your kid to give you five star in that uberx
My kids are homeschooled so we aren’t confined to after school extracurriculars. Musical theater and soccer is pretty much all my kids do.
Yeah. I was aloud to be involved in one thing at a time. Kids are over involved now, it seems like too much.
Lol. Get used to it. THIS is what parents do today. We had to walk.. or take a bus. 😅😢😂
Welcome to Parenting 😂
Totally true! The kids will go out on pension before we do! LOL :)
Wish I spent way less time driving to structured activities and more just family time with the kids. They need way more family time and alot less external influences and team sports.
music/art and sport rest SPEND TIME TOGETHER
My kids go to nothing. Their extra activities involve taking down trees building walkways, steps, laying sod you know just regular Tuesday stuff. So yeah that’s what they are learning at 4 and 5.
It’s cool they have lots of interests but the Circle ⭕️/Radius of these interests should be close to home if possible…
The question is , what would your father have said if you asked him to drive you to all these places, lol
It's the parents fault for signing them up for many sports activities and after school activities
I was going to suggest using the down time to read but then they got pretty loud! So I'd try to find activities that you can do with your child or as a family. We're married without kids by choice but we have talked about how it can seem like parents avoid parenting by dropping their kids off 😮
Yep.
Sebastian is a cool guy! For the sake of privacy, I won’t mention the name of the park where I bumped into him today, however, in spite of the fact he was with his wife and children, the dude did me a solid by taking a photo with me! What more can you ask for? See you on the tour in August, Pizan 👍🏻
I'll see you in September! Yay!
My son played football, baseball and played the drums
i miss my parents driving me around
