Henri and Nerea are like beutifully written characters from a novel or an indie movie.

Henri is my favorite person ever. He seemed so sweet. Though when he said he was the last of his family I figured he was the youngest and his family had died of old age, but when he said most of them had died in the Holocaust, my heart broke.

Actually, 4 of them were taken to concentration camps when they were in their late teens. I know this because Henri is my uncle and he and my mother were the only two who survived.

“Not too many of us left I’m afraid.” Damn near broke my heart. I’ve met a few survivors of the Holocaust; their courage, strength, and wisdom is something that I admire so greatly about them. To have someone physically their to show you and tell you what they have experienced is different from hearing it through the television. The Gen-Z’s ability to meet these individuals are slowly diminishing. So many of the younger generations are already forgetting facts about the holocaust is just a shame.
