Last time we took the Miata to the track we ran into so many cooling issues! So we decided it was time to get rid of the old crappy radiator and old cooling bits in order to stop the overheating problems! We went with all the best bits from Flyin’ Miata, BUT upgrading your radiator with the fanciest thing out there might not be the best move for YOUR car. Today we are revamping the entire cooling system on the Miata and talking how to effectively keep your car cool!
Thanks to Flyin’ Miata for sending us all these sick cooling parts!

Your videos allowed me to learn in a fun and interesting way and it worked out. Especially the money pit and bumper2bumper episodes! Due to my recently acquired knowledge more and more collegues turned to me for help which gave me the statute of the local expert and naturally raised me as a leader. I’m sure you know this, and it might already be in your jumper harness, but that power wire off the alternator doesn’t usually have a fuse, so if the controller gets stuck it can pull so much current it melts and catches on fire. Might be worth adding an inline fuse if it isn’t present already. Really enjoy the videos though! :)

If you live in an area with nice quality soft water, you can fill from the hose for flushing and rinsing cycles only. Your last rinse and drain and your final refill of mixed coolant should be done with distilled or R.O. water though. Here in Arizona, if I filled the system with tap water the car would just vanish from existence as the car gods deemed me unworthy to own and abuse such machinery. 😸 Our tap water leaves a chalky film after evaporating even a tiny bit of it in a glass one time.

Good job on presenting the cooling upgrade. One item you may wish to consider is installing a thermostat that fails open (FO). Most thermostats fail closed (FC), and then your engine overheats. With a FO thermostat, a failure does not cause an engine to burn up.
