Dodge Viper ACR Review // How Is This Even Legal

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

The 2017 Dodge Viper ACR (MSRP $119,990 USD 145,450 CAD - Market 220,000 USD 265,000 CAD) is what happens when brute force meets aerodynamics. With 8.4L of displacement, a screaming V10, and the most insane wing ever fitted to a car. The Dodge Viper is a certified track weapon. But how fast does it go around the Throttle House Test Track? Watch to find out! SUBSCRIBE!!!

@Chungus Factory This has to be a joke. Sure, if it was something like a Caravan, you may have regrets not getting an odyssey or sienna, but be it a Viper or a Hellcat, you will have fun, even after they break down (which is what I am assuming you were going to use as your argument) because they rarely do. Fiat doesn't screw up pushrod v8s, or v10s, for that matter.

@Ishaan Tiwari TV shows cost way more money to put out meaning producers take less risk and ultimately just stick to what they know works. Independent stuff like this is more unique, happy to take risk as they can stick it on KZread without waiting for a network to agree it and schedule it. In the UK, there is hardly any motoring shows on TV worth watching, more so worth waiting a week for the next show. Top Gear is now fully awful. An hour of 2 idiots and an excited driver playing silly buggers in old bangers. You get 4 episodes then a years wait for the next series. Meanwhile creative content like this showcases real cars interesting reviews and in a lot of cases, pretty decent production values. I could spend an entire evening watching great videos on KZread every night of the week. Or 1 hour of crappy top gear once a weeks 4 times then a year off.

It's hard to understand. An 8 liter NA engine must be super heavy for the power it puts out. Another car with a smaller, lighter, but turbo/supercharged engine and with same kind of crazy aero should be able to put out the same amount of power and beat the Viper lap times by weight alone.... Just nobody else bothered to put that crazy aero on their consumer market cars. Sure now we got GT2/3 RS and the like, but it's remarkable this beast of an engine can be thrown around a track this fast and got to set lap records. And all that for less price than a GTR Nismo - half the price of what the performance suggests.

@@Erafune You're ignorant to real engine dynamics as you've clearly never built anything in your life. Or if you did, it was simple bolt--on's. The V10 in the Viper isn't heavy at all. It is very light and smaller than a HEMI. The engine is also front-mid-engine. Something else not mentioned in this video. The V10 is extremely durable and well made. Stock bottom end with twin-turbos hits over 2k HP reliable. Look up Kratos and Juggernaut. Top of the food chain with no disputes on that fact. The main point here is that the V10 powercurve and massive torque allows for it to fully utilize the down force and massively wide rear tires. All of the MASSIVE torque that starts at IDLE is put down to the ground. Flying out of corners.

@@hazardeur eh. Viper's V10 was brought to Lambo to be fine-tuned, since Chrysler owned Lambo back then. I don't see any argument here, like, literally. Volkswagen did a thing, and so did Mercedes. Yes, the SL lineup is built upon the Viper ZB platform, making it and many (SL) AMG cars the Viper's German Cousin. And wait till you hear bout its Italian and British cousins.

@@hazardeur that viper v10 has nothing to compete with any other v10, nor does it want to compete at first. it's not even a V10 to start with. so 'shut your commie mouth.' And it's not "nothing can beat something", you just like a high-revving v10 more than a viper engine.

The concept of the car was originally V8 until Shelby said "f*ck it add 2 more cylinders". So it took 2 more cylinder to haul even more ass than production supercars around the world. Maybe not that hurt, but still gonna leave a mark for a while after automobile electricfication.

@@donnycorn3086 As cool as that story sounds, it couldn't be farther from the truth. In reality, Shelby *really* wanted this car to be a V8, in order to be a true successor to the Cobra. However, back in the 90's, the only V8 that Chrysler was producing was the Magnum V8 for the trucks, and those were horrible on power. The only engine that made decent power was the Magnum V10, so they chose it to be the base for the Viper V10.
