My nephew had a head on collision with a drunk driver in his new Jeep and the belt almost killed him. Tore his intestines into pieces apparently. He lived but is very messed up. I theorize the belt was maybe twisted into a rope rather than flat, was high on the belly rather than Catching the hips . I would Love a 5 point wide belt system. The drunk walked away btw . Still. I thinknthisnrepairnisnablutnas safe as new . Best would be a race type system

Is this a "repair" or does it actually completely disable the seat belt safety lock? I have a belt that's engaging the safety lock even during light pulling (in other word, it only retracts) and I don't wanna pay the $600+ that I was quoted for a new belt, self installation.

Seat belt developer here: This is NOT a repair! This seat belt has already been in an accident. I can see that because the balls are inside the tube until the car crashes and pretentioning takes place. So this will not work a second time (like an airbag). Also the seat belt might have cracks from the impact and there is no guarantee that it can withstand a second impact. And most important: the guy removed the sensor that detects when the car is tilted and heavy acceleration and deceleration. You will need that in an accident! The gears he removed is the child safety system. If you pull out the webbing completely, it can be only pulled in again. As soon as you reach a certain position it can be pulled out again. This is to fix child seats to the car

@@fjm6104 Even safety restore does not repair the seatbelt. I have seen "repaired" seatbelts perform in a crash test and the results were shocking: separating parts flying around and a performance that is not compliant to legal requirements. Also the repaired parts do not run through a homologation process. Be careful with these kind of services and respect that a seatbelt is not made to perform two times, neither is an airbag.

I called the dealer for my 13 Dart and was quoted 400 and change. I've never had a seat belt lock up like this one has in any vehicle I've ever owned.

Dose this method stop them from locking back if you get into another crash or will they still lock back ?

Just did that using your video, same procedure, thanks a lot man you are great.Also a friendly advice, try adding commentary as you do your work, its more effective than just pointing the bits that your are working on

This doesn't work on a 2002 Dodge stratus. The seat belt is not the same, the trim connections are not the same. Just an FYI

I asked myself the same question. I had to pause the video frame by frame and I could see that it is a T-50.
