That's crazy. I don't know anything about automobiles. Am bringing it to the mechanic on Wednesday. I can't afford a mechanic. I'm sure my neighbor could do this stuff. Uhh. Great video. Thank you.

just did my "new to me" 2004 Durango 3.7 . It sat in a garage for a large part of it's life with only 112,650 original miles. First on the list it ran like a dual cylinder. The crappy design allowing the plug wells to get fulled with water/ gunk. I pulled the coil paks, Before I even put a spark plug socket in well, I let "gunk "sit and then washed, and blew each well out. I then PB blastered each letting then sit overnight. I blew each well and then everso gently started working back and forth each plug and after I got them out I have a picture of major rust so much so I could have easily spun them round if I had not soaked and the gentle back and forth movements. I put new everything. And am going to add an extension cover to attach to the plastic carb/throttle body so the water that runs in under the windshield plastic cover will not end up ever the spark plug wells.

If you think the Dakota and Durango only came with the 4.7L V8 in 2000-2003, I don't think I need one of your manuals. You left out the 2.5L 4 cylinder, the 3.9L V6, the 5.2L V8, and the 5.9L V8.

Have the same year Durango w/4.7. Any suggestions?, I am replacing the fuel injectors this weekend and already did the fuel pump as well. Ours has 150 K and is still running strong except for a hard start problem. Therefore, the new injectors.

@@ericwj7 Glad to hear yours is running! I am replying because you posted this only about a week ago. I have a similar issue with starting. Battery is brand new, but engine sometimes doesn't turn over... until it does. I think it is a spark plug issue. I think. How did you determine your problem was fuel pump/injectors? Did you take your spark plugs out and confirm they were still ok? Thanks and good luck.

If your going to tell me how to open my hood🙄 then tool size would really be GREAT! Much more helpful than than hood release. Should I clean anything while I'm there? Is there a tork? Thanks for the video!

Thanks for the feedback. We include recommend torques when there is an official factory number, otherwise we do not. Our videos have been evolving, and this one was shot back when we made the Durango/Dakota manual about 15 years ago. We like to think we have improved since then.

Sooo... you went into such detail as to opening the hood even, but then you replaced only 4 of the total 8 spark plugs in your video? Lol

If I purchase the online manual, does it tell me exactly which size sockets and other tools to use for each step?

  • @HaynesManuals

Hi Tim, we will certainly explain which tools are needed, but we don't call out socket sizes for the simple reason that car makers will sometimes change suppliers or specification of a component midway through a vehicle's lifespan. You wouldn't thank us for specifying a particular size, only to find it is something else!

@@HaynesManuals Even a range would be helpful. It's not like completely different hardware would be used. For example, 1/2" or 12mm would be very similar.
