I also once piped in on a thread about which speciality creature would be picked for the then upcoming Indy 4… I voiced that, depending on where they located the movie at, I would choose the Amazon ants that crawled over people (I had visualized an old MacGyver (1985 series) episode for that.

The time loop at the end wasn't just a few minutes; It lasted long enough to get a God like being, outside of time, to beg for it to be ended. Adding in on top of that, that they both remember every loop and that Strange wasn't just letting Dormammu win he was fighting back. It's fair to say that Strange's skill with magic by the end of the Loop was a lot higher than when it started. TLDR: Dr Strange grinded the Dormammu fight until he was max lvl.

Nothing said that he had to keep killing Strange _quickly_ -- Why not give the Doctor an excruciatingly painful death that takes a couple of months to finally kill him, and then do _that_ a few hundred times, over and over and over, and see just who wants to keep that temporal loop going ad infinitum... 🤔🙄🤨

In canon, Dr Strange lived a subjective 10 years in that time loop with Dormammu, trying everything he learned and everything he could think of to fight back. That's a big reason why Doctor Strange is so powerful. There's no training so thorough as live-fire training that resets every time you die. Also, the reason (in my opinion) why Kaeciliius and his zealots could break through into Strange's reversed timestream is because of their connection to the Dark Dimension, a place beyond time.

Because in Endgame, the Ancient One tells Hulk that Stephen Strange is going to become a sorcerer after 5 years, putting this film's events after Civil War. And no, this does not take place before Winter Soldier, the reasons being: 1) The rest of the world has no idea about sorcerers and the events of this movie, because Strange reversed time and fixed everything. So why would SHIELD know about Strange and the sorcerers? And 2) In Winter Soldier, Arnim Zola talks about how they can use a person's past to predict his future. And that's what they use to find the people who potentially can be a threat to HYDRA. Granted they couldn't have predicted that Strange would become a sorcerer, but they weren't talking about that. Strange is an extremely skilled, highly intelligent and wealthy man, who likely has a lot of influence and knows a lot of people. That's the kind of threat they were talking about. He would've been a threat because he could use his influence against them.

Dormammu’s design was actually done by motion capture by Cumberbatch himself. It makes sense, since Dormammu is a formless entity, so he’s simply imitating the being he’s facing.

The phone call right before the car crash talked about patients; one in particular was about mid-thoracic spinal injury. This case was actually Rhoady, after being accidentally shot down by Vision's laser in Captain America: Civil War

Natalie: "I wonder what's gonna happen to him to make him a superhero?" Oh, your question is going to be answered all too quickly, and given your dislike for Tony Starks driving, I don't think you'll enjoy the next few minutes... This was the moment Ive waited for when you said this back in Ironman 1

@@trayolphia5756 I think she meant she found a new level of dislike. Maybe it's me but Natalie doesn't seem so turned around to the good doctor's turning to good. There's only one moment of self-sacrafice, the rest of the time he still seems like the arrogant ...person... he started out as. Unless there is more that she reveals in her full review over on patreon. I think Natalie likes more the humble sort of hero, like Steve Rogers.

@@Leon-wz1js well iron man one has tony being a “similarly douchy” guy in context...over the course of the films, we’ve seen that tony keeps his “haughtiness” and confidence, and if she hadn’t seen the slow changes and developments, that confidence can be interpreted as arrogance...yet we haven’t yet had that time to see and watch growth of dr strange... My point was simply she comments about disliking strange for behaving in his ways, and as many had done during the release timeframe...had seemingly forgotten she once had the same view of tony...

The Doctor Strange comic came out in the 1960s and was a very 'trippy' comic. I'm glad they brought that feel into the movies.

The movie seems to be a nice balance between all the Doctor Strange artists. Steve Ditko was the first really surreal artist that I saw back then and primed my own take on Surrealism. There's a feel of Frank Brunner and Gene Colan's dynamic layouts here too.

I love your reaction vids. You're almost too much fun. Two quick things: 1) He learns, "so quickly" for two reasons. First, he's freaking brilliant. Second, his soul is literally studying while he sleeps. 2) He can't stop his hands from shaking, because he chooses not to. It's no longer the focus. As you said at the end, this is a great character arc. Have an amazing day!

This was another awesome surprise from Marvel Studios. The 1960s version in the comics drew a lot of art inspiration from the psychedelic stoner art of the day. The whole thing was pretty surrealistic and very creative. The fact that the film captured so much of that aesthetic, so well, was just awesome. :) Wong is a real character in the Marvel Comics, and Wong is the character's actual name. The *next time* you see Dr. Strange, it'll definitely be pretty fun.

One of the things I like about this movie, is that everything we see Strange and the other sorcerers do, we also see Loki, Odin and Freya, do. Which hints that there's a certain amount of similarity between Earth and Asgardian magic.
