When you say Mooer sent the initial one out to you directly...did they though? Because the GTRS instruments I've been sent from Mooer were shipped from the local Amazon warehouse, which means that I in no way got special treatment over anyone else. There isn't some minimum wage guy in Amazon Edinburgh going to the special influencer shelf that doesn't exist to pick out a better guitar just for me. The very suggestion of such is nonsense. All Mooer did was authorise an order from a completely different part of the world - they ain't manufacturing or shipping special guitars to influencers. Who has the time and money to orchestrate such an elaborate ruse when they could just make all their instruments to the same level of quality and ship out whatever one they currently have in stock.

​@@sixstringtv1 People also need to remember there will be variances in quality between different guitars from the same batch, and issues like fret sprout are more likely to do with storage and shipping conditions than a secret plot to disadvantage the consumer. It's like when people criticise me for not mentioning fret sprout and setup issues, but Phil McKnight finds those issues all the time on the same guitars. Am I an idiot or a liar? No, I live in a cold wet country and Phil lives in a literal desert where the roads melt in the heat. It's not a conspiracy, it's climate.

I was a few times very close to buying one of the GTRS guitars. Unfortunately the S800 I tried also had some fret end issues that were very noticeable. Then I was extremely excited when they announced the W models, but for some reason the way the pickguard is shaped on the lower horn really irks me with just how wrong it looks.

Yes youll get better guitars. The manufacturers send good guitar for reviews. I was working for a german distribution of a well known american guitar company and we checked every guitar that went to magazines for a test. The last guitars i ordered myself from Thomann, Music Store and some other Dealers had all problems. I ordered Strandberg, Fender USA Vintage, Vintera, Gibson and Charvel Guitars. Some where unplayable with non working trussrods, others had other defects . None was really good.

I really love the look of this guitar, but I’d never use the built in electronic doodads. And I need a whammy.

Interesting timing for the topic... I'm a total nobody who recently ordered a brand new Soldano SLO-30 through Guitar Center and I had to return two brand new, in box models before getting the third one which was finally great. Kinda like you said, Boutique Amps Distribution is obviously capable of carrying Mike Soldano's legacy, but my recent experience had me thinking their quality control probably isn't as consistent for "regular" people. P.S. What was that riff at 9:23 ?

So in my experience ( which after owning over 100 different guitars from very low to very high price I'd say I have a bit of) you can get a 200 € guitar that is great and you can get a 2000 € guitar that is not. Odds are inverted of course. I once had an Ibanez Prestige with fret sprout and the nut filed not deep enough with dull strings and no intonation whatsoever. I also had an Harley Benton with absolutely zero issues. There are a few issues typical for guitars and I'd say as long as it is not from a custom shop you can always get an instrument with one, some or all of the issues. You can also be lucky and get a budget guitar QCed by a guy who does it for 10 years and had a good time at work. Or the other way around. Or another combination. In the recent months I experienced minor quality guitars from some of the bigger shops that were supposed to be QCed at the store (with inspection cards or even protocols) and should never made their way to a customer. Good for me cause I can fix all those things myself and can get massive discounts. With the mentioned Ibanez I got over 400 € discount. I wish I could earn that kind of money regularly for half a hour of workin on a guitar.

Now you gotta order a third one. Law of averages time!

Novel incoming: Good idea for a video. Some content creators get really defensive when you ask if they get sent the same guitar as a consumer, others get downright nasty if you make the assumption (which i think is fair when they are plugging a cheap brand that someone else paid for and got a bad version of). It's a shame imo guitar youtube is becoming so much about selling product for huge brands and retailers. When a new Jackson comes out, 90% of your guitar subscriptions are guys pushing it on you. "For today I'm using my new Jackson Virtuoso", yeah you and everyone else for the next month until you get sent another guitar to shill! No doubt the gear is good, that's not the point, more the soullessness and predicatability of the paid promotion involved. I'm thinking the American Soloist, Virtusoso, and of course the PRS t-type. All amazing guitars I'm sure, but fuck, this much plugging makes me not want the damn thing. When i say soulless i don't mean the content creator btw, i follow these guys because i like them, i mean advertising generally, and the way it's smothering guitar youtube. Anyway good vid.

@Shredxcam22 I can't deny some KZreadrs go a bit overboard with the advertising, but I've never accepted a script from a company, and I've told countless manufacturers to go pound sand if I thought their stuff was no good. Someday I'll have to make a "sponsor rejects" video, but I don't think giving them all that negative publicity is fair either.
