I don’t agree with that because that isn’t the problem. You’re supposed to believe it is. Instead I’d prefer that campaign finance of all kinds be limited to the electorate of the specific office. Nobody from state A has any civil right to work to control or influence the elections of state B. Same goes for counties and cities. No extra-jurisdictional funding. Not from “the party” nor from outside PACs, and especially not governors of other states. If a Californian can’t vote in Florida elections, why should they get to fund candidates there? Essentially, allowing that is the same as removing the voice of smaller states.

On the other hand, running a government with the mindset “Government is bad” is a recipe for self-destructive, ineffectual government. There’s a middle ground in there where you question what the government does and why it does things, but also don’t inherently disregard any amount of public action or accountability as “government overreach.”
