    One of the best combos my coaches ever showed me was throwing a couple good 1+2's with intent to earn respect, then following up with 1 + a short 2 close distance and get them to cover up + ripping that liver hook.

    Why the fuck is this not top rated comment? I just wrote an essay-length reply before I saw this gem. If pressed, my go-to has been very similar: get into southpaw, throw a few right jabs, a cross, or feint to their face; and when their guard is high, slam the developing shit out of them with a downward angled left hook between the liver and right kidney as I slip & halfstep forward and to my left while quarter turning right. Makes me feel like a dirty motherfucker when I do it, but it's never let me down... I'd only really use if shit is escalating to the point where some asshole is about to be like "I'm goin' git mah gun!", or pull weapons in general... or if they REALLY deserve to piss blood a while. E: forgot to add "slip and turn" bit, which is important. E2: was uselessly unclear to point of "not being true", sorry for edit storm; but combat is NOT something I'm willing to spread misinformation/lies about, if possible.

    It's also a matter of conditioning the opponent to look for other combinations, the 1-2-1 and 1-1 conditions them to keep their right glove up for the 2nd jab while you reach for the 1-2-3 and 1-3 TO THE BODY :) You can also lead with a liver punch, if you look at the body mechanics in a mirror then you can feint between reaching for the body and throwing a lead cross/overhand - that is more or less Mexican style.

This Will get u in position to throw the hook to the BOOEEEDAAAYYY. Also my sparring partner wassnt stunned at all and said: Good job. I couldnt land one shown like this cuz my opponent would be miles away after the one two and i would always hit air going to the BOOEEEDAAAYYY. love this channel.

    *IF* a fight needed to end post-fucking-haste: I've always loved to start southpaw (Right handed, just train ~75R/25L for basic competence as lefty), draw guard w/ a solid right jab or cross - or feint - to draw guard, then hit right b/t the liver & right kidney with a left hook as I slip a bit and half-step around (personal preference?) to my left and use the movement to make like I'm trying to break my hand on their hip by going thru the squishy bits - just a visualization to encourage follow-through, as for 90%+ people, I'm striking at a downward angle due to the target and being tall-ish. That all said: don't go smacking up vital organs on a whim -- it's escalation just below "time for a knife/gun" level, and very dangerous. Also, I believe, Aggravated Battery and Assault if not justified. Works most every time, though, and you can throw whatever loose shit ya might have in your pocket (think coins, [shiny+valuable]×[heavy] = Ω-tier distraction), then use that opening. Unless you're the aggressor, then quit being a fucking tool. Y'all stay safe. P.s. also works w/ left knee strike. Better if clinched, but my kicks and knee strikes are *terrible*, while my hand speed & power are above average. Ymmv.

    I used to copy the Eric Morales combo of double jab to the head and straight to the body. Then if I see a reaction hook to which ever side the arm comes to block the body straight..But you can't do it too much as the adjustment from the straight to a body to set up a hook can easily be predicted if the opponent is calm enough.

    How do you drill for slipping/rolling? (Still on boxing) Because honestly I’m skeptical. When I was doing Krav I was able to block crosses pretty well from a semi- long guard but that’s a very small motion. Unless someone really telegraphs his punches it’s hard for me to imagine moving my whole torso quickly enough to get offline. The pros do it of course but I just ain’t that fast. (I sucked at blocking hooks so I may just be super slow.)

  • @TheEpicTricycle

    @TheEpicTricycle

    4 жыл бұрын

    I know I'm not Mike, but I think I can answer your question. Uppercuts, corkscrew crosses off an inside slip, and shovel hooks are all solid ways to strike the solar plexus and take a man's soul. You can't really condition your solar plexus to take a solid shot, but the sharp exhale Thai fighters do tightens the core and mitigates damage to the soft internal organs

    Just seconding: not aware of any way to harden the Solar Plexus against strikes. It's (functionally) as bad as the liver or a kidney getting tagged, imo -- may not physically hurt as much, but no one I'm aware of can fight without being able to breathe. As the wise gentleman above describes, it sucks the soul (& the aggression/will to fight) right out. It's somewhat less dangerous to one's opponent than the liver- or kidney shots, very generally speaking. Personally, they're all strikes I avoid using unless things are escalating to an uncomfortable level. Y'all stay safe.

    Boxing. It is a great foundation, low impact and excellent for getting in shape. The initial learning curve is not very steep and the skills learned apply to self defense, mma... anything really. There is such a thing as being too hard on yourself and I see it a lot. People come in and get easily frustrated with themselves because the movements seem simple. Just be patient and listen to the instructions and let yourself be coached. Good luck man and hit me up if you need anything.

    There’s no way dropping someone with a liver shot punching with that hook ??,hurt them with body shot yes,but true liver shot is not a hook,it’s more off a diagonal uppercut as you have to dig that punch right into the liver,same with the kick your slamming it in,if was traditional boxing hook then you would see it in boxing all time and you don’t,

  • @MoustermindTCG

    @MoustermindTCG

    4 жыл бұрын

    Mike does show the traditional body hook at the start. But if you're stationary then yes, the 45° angle is best for the best directional transference of energy into the liver. However, because the rolling hook has extra lateral movement it develops more energy transfer which, combined with the opponents opposite momentum, causes more than enough power to send a shockwave into your opponent's liver or spleen (on the opposite side). Also, as it's a counter punch designed to land during an evasive movement, it is rather difficult to brace for and is essentially a "free" punch to add in. There's very little reason not to throw it.

  • @jamesmiles1328

    @jamesmiles1328

    4 жыл бұрын

    Mindripper 1 yeah I mean obviously a normal boxing hook can drop anyone hit right time it hurts any body shot does,but there’s a big difference from a liver shot to a body shot,you ain’t ever getting back up from the liver shot takes ages to recover,and to truly dig liver shot in more diagonal punch have to be so accurate and top fighter to pull it off,problem with hook is most time people will just scrape off the body lose power on it,
