It's sad that people do not even realize in one measly year of your life you could actually master this technique. Self defense is repetition.

No, it means a new round is put in the chamber, then you still need to pull the trigger
I think it needs to be mentioned that unless you have handled a gun or practices this move you won’t be successful at this. The force needed to hold it back and the speed needed has to be practiced.

A tall you need to do to survive is do What most people do that survive violent crime every day and that is they strive to survive. What we are doing is helping by giving you alternatives to panic base responses and giving actual strategic tactical responses to increase your survivability. It’s important to remember that police officers have been disarmed by untrained criminals and regular people and regular citizens have been disarmed by regular citizens throughout history and many police officers have disarmed citizens without any disarm training.

you won't have a problem holding back. but if you tried to keep the slide from moving to begin with. you'll probably seriously hurt yourself. BTW this technique is silly because the firearm knowledge is completely wrong
Better practice this over and over 100s of times before actually trying it.!
Gotta know when to use it. If he says "Give me your wallet" I'd give him the wallet and most likely walk out alive. If he says something like "you the dude that fcked my girl" or "you thought I wasn't gonna get you" you are about to die, might as well try it.

No when the slide goes back that is how the shell casing is extracted from the chamber after the bullet is shot or after you push the slide to the rear which automatically extracts the UN fired bullet not just the casing from the chamber. When you push the slide the rear it also disengage the trigger until it’s pushed back forward and in order to stop that you simply press the gun back towards the assailant and you attack them very quickly turn the barrel up towards them and go forward there’s no time for them to redirect or to drop back or to pull the gun back away from you if you are the victim you will be able to redirect the gun before they can put her on back

For all those saying he already took one to the chest, if you look closely he pushed the side back before the dude could squeeze the trigger. However, never ever ever ever would i advice anyone to try that! The amount of adrenaline on you and your assailant is beyond what you could imagine or handle and the unpredictability of you missing the slide as you're all shaky trying to grab it or the other person beating you to the squeeze, and your as good as dead

Hi
I think the most important skill to have in this situation is reading/feeling your opponents level of alertness. Many perfectly viable techniques in combat sports don't really work unless you catch somebody lacking basically. Talking about escapes from bad positions in the ground, submissions, throws or advances in position in wrestling etc. Realizing at what point the attacker in this case is being slightly less focused or being a little distracted could multiply your window of opportunity to perform a technique.

Very painful
I understand what he’s saying, and I’m very familiar with glocks. However, just as knife experts say, the best defense with knives is to run or comply. I think the best move at gunpoint is to comply and try to keep the situation calm. Besides I don’t carry cash and I have insurance. I’ll be able to recover most of what I’m robbed the next day.
@DetroitThreatManagementCenter
2 жыл бұрын
Best defense is to de-escalate and comply. If that doesn’t work, we have options that can increase your survivability.
@DetroitThreatManagementCenter
2 жыл бұрын
This is not a choice of compliance or non compliance, The choice is to stop yourself from getting shot or stop yourself from getting shot repeatedly. Hundreds of women and children and thousands of men have been killed like this. Fortunately for some men women and children they were able to disarm their aggressors and save themselves and their family members. These people had no training I’ve never taken a karate class but they refused to allow themselves and their family members to perish so they simply fight back and they won. The purpose of these videos is to increase a persons likelihood of survivability so they don’t have to make things up so they can understand the science of how they can survive.
I've had to use this maneuver before. I didn't grab the slide though, I did act fast and used the rest of the maneuver he showed. True story. It worked for me. All I know is dont panic keep your bearing. I had a few moments to think and I acted. But when you act go all the way through. Commit to it with no fear because you could die anyway. At least you're trying to survive.
@DetroitThreatManagementCenter
2 жыл бұрын
Absolutely excellent point glad that you were able to survive and just like you there are many people that figured it out and they survived with absolutely no training and our goal is to at least give people more knowledge so they don’t have to guess and be lucky so they can understand the science and we can save more people by making sure they know what to do in the situation.
@DetroitThreatManagementCenter

Thank you for sharing your story of surviving is threat that many people on the Internet thing is not a real threat because they have no experience in real world threat situations.
you and master ken need to do a vid together
I mean, he is just giving an option in this situation. At least with what he shows, you have a chance, it might be a very small one, but I would rather try to do something than do absolutely nothing. I know if I do nothing, the probability of me getting shot is pretty high, wouldn’t you want to increase that chance even by 5%?
Holy fuck how does this guy have a job… “After he fires a round into your chest grab them slide on its way back so he can’t shoot you a second time”
@briangilland136
2 жыл бұрын
Yes exactly. The action cycles from the energy of the first round being fired. If that was a real loaded firearm he would be dead.
@rocketsalad
2 жыл бұрын
He’s - and this is all theoretical, mind you - shoving the slide *backward* _before_ the trigger is pulled. Listen closer next time, or maybe wait until you’ve watched the whole video before you get in your righteous bag and reply in heat 👍✌️
Ok I get it **Died**
Badass! It's awesome to show us how to defend ourselves and also how to control the situation and not just kill a person. Thanks
Teaching you how to get out of a gun pulled on you. Why?? Because the Detroit Police will NOT show up. Had a guy pull a gun to my chest. My eight year old daughter was screaming. My mom was sitting next to me. She started screaming and they ran away. Called the Detroit Police and they told me, "We're not coming for that." Reasons why I don't live in Detroit or Michigan anymore.
That works with almost every pistol. Usually when the slide goes back 1/4". You could walk into the gun and do the same thing ifit's against you. But that's a terrible idea. Everyone should carry a revolver. Hammerless is better. Plus, you don't have to run down shells.
If I made it that far defending myself,, damn right I'm going to shoot
Does this only work in Detroit? Asking for a friend in Chicago.

It works everywhere
I would hate to break into this guy’s house.
All you guys commenting gotta understand in a real live situation there will be times where the aggressor will be distracted because he’ll also be checking every other second to see if there’s witnesses around during the robbery and also while tryna keep control of the situation at the same time, so there will be a few seconds of time you’ll have to gain control of the situation
Thank you. This move saved my life. I thought I was a goner!

He needs to open a chapter in Chicago
You have to put your hands up and take a totally submissive approach. With this technique you can get your hands up closer to the weapon. You can grab the gun, his brain has to acknowledge movement, then the brain has to tell finger to pull trigger. Definitely an move that can be done with practice.
