    Historically, karate was meant to do the trio of gouging the eyes, crushing the throat and slamming the balls in quick succession. Still amazed how a form meant to kill became the sport it is today.

    There is one old okinawan and true balls to the wall self-defense rooted style of karate called Shobayashi-ryu karate, let me just tell you this, this style of karate was used by the father of modern combatives of the US special forces, with a lot of it's very scary strikes and even groundfighting techniques put into his system, let that sink in, This style of karate, was aproved by the MILITARY combat head of US special forces, which has to mean something! If you search the characteristics of the style you will only this interesting fact more plausible, cool right?

    @@MidnightBikerHostility Nah all of those traditional karate branches are all incredibly useless unless heavily modified for sensible unarmed self defense. That's why other striking based martial arts overshadow them greatly in prize fighting and modern military martial arts programs.

    @@SuperAgua That's why i was talking specifically about this one style dude, it was used in the US military, but i don't wanna get into another karate argument again, im just gonna say, do your own research and tone down your bias if you have any of course, and watch this video about this organization karate called iogkf kzread.info/dash/bejne/oH2mrNB6lKjOfaQ.html, it's the best organization of traditional style of goju-ryu katate in the world, and they are not afraid of adapt to more modern solutions of self defense, look out for the red and black symbol on their gi.

  • @SuperAgua

    @SuperAgua

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@MidnightBikerHostility I'm including the style you mentioned in the argument too. And it's not bias I've had first hand experience and grew to understood why the effectiveness is low. Pretty much all old okinawan karate descended from chinese traditional martial arts which have all been proven to be ineffective in the face of stress tested real combat oriented martial arts. A good example is muay thai which at its roots is incredibly technically sound and well thought out from its stances to guards and it's use of the body for maximum effectiveness in striking. It's pretty much the most complete form of modern kickboxing and even inspired other cultures to borrow techniques. Kyokushin karate is the most grounded in terms of training to defeat the opponent, since for example it includes sparring in its training and even it has its limitations. Like traditionally not allowing strikes to the head so it has no practiced method for it and the use of kata and weird stances which most definitely don't work. As for shobayashi ryu being used in the US military, I'd like to know where you got that since I couldn't find a single instance online of that. Modern US military martial arts programs don't have a set style they teach, they include things from wrestling, bjj, boxing and kickboxing and have a system of techniques. Much like in the spirit of krav maga.

  • @svp5thechad408

    @svp5thechad408

    Жыл бұрын

    As someone who practices kyokushin, id like to clarify that those weird instances arent used in sparring, and that katas are purely for muscle memory, or its own competition. Also, strikes to the head arent allowed only for punches. And also, you cant push or grab the opponent (although theres moves with similar purpose). I guess its idea competitively was to have a fighting style that doesnt really cause brain damage (like boxing), which is about exhausting your opponents extremities and causing max damage to the stomach and diaphragm

    I think all the situations Dale uses shows that the aggressor isn't trained and is trying to be extra intimidating/showing off. I think the situations come up more than you would really think if you are looking at inexperienced criminals. Again, best move is give wallet, but if they're going to shoot you anyway, it doesn't seem too far fetched. The other thing is, if you are in the mindset that they intend to shoot, theoretically, you can attempt to get the aggressor into a proper setup for a disarm attempt. You have nothing to lose at that point, so might as well try.

  • @padrescout

    @padrescout

    This needs to be said more: don't try to fight a armed person, don't try to disarm them. they want your stuff. give them your stuff. it sucks, but youll live. Because you will turn the situation from "im going to take this guys stuff" to "this guys might get my gun and kill me with it, so its very important i kill him first" and that is a very bad change.

  • @daifuku75

    @daifuku75

    10 ай бұрын

    @@padrescout The point isn't to refuse to give the money, it's in the case where they don't want your money/they intend to kill you anyways. The point is that if you aren't able to comply for whatever reason, you have a last ditch attempt that has a better chance than an inexperienced person's attempt. On an unsuspecting rookie criminal, I can see this working better than just "run" or "beg" when they intend to kill you.

    The Bible says in John 3:16-36 that whoever believes in the Lord Jesus Christ shall not perish but have everlasting life, the Bible also says in Romans 10:9 that those who declare with their mouth that Jesus Christ is their God, Lord, and Savior they shall be saved. Revelation 1:8 says that Jesus is the alpha and the omega. Luke and revelation is the ending times, and Jesus is returning back. So are you going to submit your life to him or no? Narrow is the path that leads to the gates of heaven, but only few people find it. The gates that is the path to destruction is where many people find it! Jesus loves you SO MUCH! Those close quarter scenarios where the gunmen has the weapon pressed against your head or back are perfectly realistic and common scenarios in home invasions or robberies where people are in confined spaces. In these cases the robber holding the gun isn't likely to keep more than an arms length in anticipation of a disarm or gun reversal technique, but stay close to you so you don't runaway and call for help, since in a house or building you can just book a quick right or left into a room and lock and barricade the door. The best thing for normal people to do in home invasions is to stay hidden and call the cops, or escape if possible, but every scenario has different applicable techniques or actions, and those taught by Dale just apply to these types of Close quarters scenarios. Not unrealistic, just not applicable to a lot of situations. Again though, it takes serious training to ingrain these types of techniques into muscle memory and watching a 1 min video and trying it out with your friends for an hour probably isn't going to do you much good. Good stuff good stuff

    You are right - if you have not been exposed to assault/combat/fighting levels of stress, you WILL panic if you do end up in those situations. You simply can't handle the fight or flight response and massive adrenaline dump.. I've been in a lot of near-death/high-risk situations and it took years to develop a mental callous. also, the fact that he was cool with your videos and even met up with you is pretty damn respectable. Props to you, Dale. At the end of the day, the kind of situations Dale talks about are unpredictable and in a fight all it takes is one lucky shot/move and it's over

    5:58 - This is 100% true. If you are the kind of person who panics in a stressful situation (this is most people), all of your techniques will be thrown out the window. Even in just a regular, good old street fight with no weapons involved. The only way to get past that is to spend years training and drilling these techniques so that you do them automatically; without thinking. That being said, I think it's irresponsible for this guy, no matter how nice he is, to publicly post KZread videos about disarming people of their weapons because it will give many people a false sense of confidence that will get them severely injured or killed. The best way to survive a gun is to run away and hope they have terrible aim; which is very likely especially if they are using a handgun. Get behind cover and out of their line of sight as fast as possible.

    i think something that is important to remember with these tacktics is that while, yes, you will barely ever be in a situation where they are useable and most people wont even be ably to utalize the tequniques in those situations, it still increases your chances of surviving when everything does work out and you can gain control of the situation, even if things barely ever work out in a way that lets you use one of Dale's methods.

    main other thing i would say is. Charlie said in a scenario where you are robbing someone you wouldnt think about them trying to fight back in someway. I dont believe in this because personally if it were me and i was robbing someone i would think this person could try something because if your holding a gun at someone you need to think you cant just be dumb and expect someone to give you everything, in this scenario you need to be prepared for anything that happens.

    I don’t understand why he thinks the expectation is to pull out the John Wick moves out after having seen them once, if Dale trained you for a few weeks your likelihood of surviving the situations you’re trained for is definitely higher than somebody who isn’t trained. The point of Dale’s videos is to draw people towards his business, it seems really obvious that you have to actually practice to get good enough at these for them to be at all effective, like anything else in life.

    @@alt2484 If your intention is to rob someone and you mark a person who you think has the potential to fight back, you're a pretty poor criminal. If you're a smart criminal you're going to pick someone who you think will comply without much difficulty and if you're a dumb criminal you're still going to go after someone who isn't going to make much fuss because the risk of life and freedom is ever-looming no matter how foolish they are. Whether they're smart or not, the goal is to grab a quick and easy mark, get your score discreetly and get out. I'm not saying that there aren't criminals out there thinking as you've said, but they are by far the minority.

    In regards to the robber keeping a distance (or the gun in a pocket), I've been robbed at gunpoint while sitting on the curb of a sidewalk. At first they had the gun near my head, kind of pointing at my neck, but as he was asking for my wallet and phone, i was being pushed until i was on my back and the gun's barrel was on my forehead. I remember feeling it was cold. So yeah, it does happen. Although I'm not sure Dale has any techniques for people basically laying down on the floor lol.

    @SoxHo Just imagine you are in being pointed with a gun. What are you gonna do? Stand there? Dale helps us to "increase" our survival chances, but sometimes they don't work because the robbers/kidnappers can be smartasses and did a fucking matrix move. Dale never told us that it will help us 100%. It's pretty much rng (random number generator). Also if you dont know anything about increasing chances of survival or preventing yourself being kidnapped/hostaged. Just watch Detroit Survival Management. You will get the idea after you watched like alot of videos on how to survive. Also even if they are bs, they can still work BUT not EVERY single time. It involves around rng. If you watched survival tips, you would have atleast a "high" chance of surviving. But if you didn't watch any survival tips, you would have no idea on what to do and gives up on life, or you would just risk your life like a fucking chess match. Look, i get it that they are bs. But there is something called an "opinion". By the way, if the survival tips REALLY do help, LIKE A 100% survivability. Then your opinion is wrong.
