I am familiar with turkey tail mushrooms, but in a different way. I am an artist my father and I would look for turkey tail mushrooms in the woods whenever I would accompany him during deer season. He had a handicap license and I would drive him to the woods. I would drive him in his side by side. He was permitted to hunt from the side-by-side as I drove. The two of us kept an eye out for very large turkey tail mushrooms growing on the sides of oak trees. I would remove them and put them in the back of our vehicle. I would take them home and dry them out by our fireplace. On underside of the mushrooms, I would paint scenic pictures like wildlife native to our area of West Virginia such as whitetail deer, black bear and birds. I would also paint scenic a pastoral scenes like big red barns, cows and horses grazing in the field or something like that. And people would buy my paintings. The very first one I ever did was on a 6 inch wide 3 inch thick turkey mushroom that my mother found. I painted and Old Red Barn on it and gave it to her for mother's Day. I painted it from a picture of the old barn that used to stand on her parents farm. She said it's the best present I ever gave her. 💞 Now that I know that turkey tail mushrooms have medicinal purposes, and that they help the immune system, I'm even more connected to them. You see dear,. I have a rare condition called Idiopathic Multicentric Castelman's Disease ( iMCD) . It involves my immune system and my lymph nodes to be exact. Next time I go into the woods, I will be looking for turkey tail mushrooms. But, this time for a dual purpose. 💕🙏💫🕊️

Good morning Kaylee. I had no idea about the healing power of Turkey Tail Mushrooms. That being said, thanks again for all your tips for avoiding OTC medications and prescription drugs. That being said, I'm definitely looking forward to all your great content as to how to remain healthy in 2023! 🌼🌹👍🌻

Awesome video on so many levels! The medicinal value of this mushroom is similar to chaga and it is so much easier to find. The preparation to make it into a tea is also similar. I'm so happy that you invited your grandma on this adventure. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.

What I do with my mushroom is put them in the sun or UV light to increase vit D. For TT or Reishi - we put them in hot water (on the wood stove overnite ) for a water extract. The water is kind of tasteless which can be great because then we use this water to make coffee or tea. Think we get the benefit that way.

Always saw these when I was a kid and I lived in dryer areas. Now I am in a costal area with lots of trees but mostly cedar and fungus doesn't like cedar. Also, Turkey Tail doesn't seem to like pine so you are lucky that you have it growing abundantly around you. I really have to keep a watch out closely for it I guess. It's neat the way it comes in so many shades of dark brown, grays, tans, and even almost orangey colors sometimes. I wonder what makes it different colors. I'm in WA state so even if I did find some it would probably be covered in green algae and slime sadly. Oh well. Some day when I see it I will know what to do with it.

I’ve learned so much from you the last month! We have morels here, in the early spring. That’s the only mushroom I feel safe foraging for. There are false morels too, here. Your Grandma is beautiful!! I love her accent.

Kaylee very interesting to see you among others spreading the virtues of medicinal Mushrooms. I am Irish myself but have lived in different countries and presently living in Tuscany Italy where I have found a very rich supply of wild mushrooms, Turkey Tail among them. I would like to recommend the publications and research of an author Martin Powell from this side who has done extensive research into the the medicinal and healing properties of a number of different mushroom varieties. Myself I am a practitioner of Chinese medicine and I would like your comments on the preparation method? In Chinese medicine we use boiling (decoction) as a method to leach out the medicinal properties. Was this in your method to deactivate certain toxins via the boiling method? If not would it not be more productive and produce a more potent immuno-support by drying the Turkey tail without boiling thus preserving the medicinal compounds? Then powdering to add as a supplement to other dishes and drinks? Btw totally agree with you about labelling.

I was curious why you dehydrated instead of freeze drying ... had typed that out and then you explained it! I need to learn to be more patient lol. I have a ton of turkey tail on my parent's property (they don't care what I forage for here) so guess what I'm gonna be doing this year! I had left them alone because I didn't know what to do with them in past years, I'm excited for this year!

Living in Ohio and being so close to parks and on our mini homestead there’s one mushroom that’s gigantic and white my husband has eaten them but we are not sure what they are? Hopefully his book will help us. Thank you so very much for teaching us! And God Bless! ☺️♥️
