Hey the automatic transmission is good at times but tell everyone what happens when you get right before you bump the dock the truck takes off like you stomped the gas you hit the dock or building so hard how many buildings you moved I don't see equipment lasting a long time behind that

@@cdl9239 I've never had a problem hitting the dock, so the problem is not with the transmission it's with the operator. And I've been driving them for years and they haven't given me anymore problems than my manuals. I have and hate the DEF system, that has cost me more down time than anything.

Been there done that,ever had someone backing you in and equipment takes off,spotter doesn't know weather to run or stay,and the looks you get from spotters when this happens.Good times.

ONE BIG PROBLEM---------- HE IS PROBABLY IS A OWNER/OPERATOR!!!! I have seen this done, its extremly stupid, and it seems that the ones doing it are EXTREMLY FAT so if they get in trouble the cant get back behind the wheel, WHERE THEY BELONG!!! ( ADJUST YOUR MIRRORS STUPID!!! )

As a truck driver I can tell you there's a whole lot that could go wrong right there and all it would take is one wrong move to fuck that all up and cause not only alot of damage but injure himself as well

You don't have quick access to the brake. You dont have quick access to the accelerator. You dont have good view of the other side of the truck. You dont have good view of the front of the truck you don't have good control of steering.

Don't disrespect yourself by competing with stupidity. Doing better means something was good and you can do better. This was the most stupid and unnecessarily dangerous maneuver I saw in my 40+ years in trucking.

The fact is, your mirrors deadass do that for you. While you're able to remain in your seat and foot on clutch/brake incase all goes to hell. So I rank it stupidity for sure.

My Uncle drove for 50 years and did this in parking lots. Never had a wreck or accident. Just because its not your cup of tea doesn't make it wrong

I worked with a brother who did this standing outside, with the door closed and charged the Over the road driver 20 bucks. Over the road drivers can't back in for crap. We'd watch them try to back in a dock for like 45 minutes until he'd approached them. This IS SKILL. People that say they would fire someone who did this, wished they could do it.

You can you just have to actually adjust your mirrors correctly. Most of them can't be arsed to do it. I can understand rolling down the window and sticking your head out, but standing on the steps is fucking stupid. I know plenty of large car drivers who don't have any trouble backing from the seat. Having your seat at the right height instead of on the floor makes a huge difference.

Seen a driver doing that at Wal-Mart D C ( Mcclenny , Florida ) fell off the steps hit the truck beside him at the dock. ,

I've seen many do it but myself there was no way I would try it

It's great that you have this skill but if you needed to stop to avoid hitting something jumping into a truck in motion makes no sense and more than likely you've already hit the object your trying to avoid. The reason why people did was when backing on the drivers side looking in the mirror the exhaust muffler will block your vision so we'll crack the door and look back it actually makes backing up easier standing on the running boards you just showing off

I have had to do this on a Peterbilt 379 with no adjustable mirrors as it was all but impossible to see down the trailer and I was taught that way by the owner of the truck!

Skill is backing w/o having to lean out the window or foward in your seat. Idk what this is but it does look fun.

Umm, you have to see where the end of your trailer is. When you back a long trailer the end of the trailer is no longer visible in the mirror. You either don't drive a truck or are one of those drivers that back into other trucks at the truck stop.

Did you know they used to back in double and triple trailers standing on the running boards in the 40's and 50's. The old farm boys and truckers of the era were used to backing up in all sorts of situations.

Those things hanging off both sides of the cab are called mirrors. I’ve used them for 47 years and counting. They work.

I’ve seen some fucked up shit on the road the last 30 years and I always say, “whatever works for ya” as long as you get the job done

Saw my brother in law do this back in the 70s. I thought it was a magical illusion or something.

Over 30yrs. I've driven different trks, different size trls. and I've never even had to open my door while backing into a spot.

A lot of older drivers do this because they can't see past the exhaust pipes (stacks) on the sides of the truck. This is very dangerous and should only be done by experienced drivers because you can easily lose your balance or hit something on your blind side. Be safe. It's similar to popping a wheelie on a motorcycle.
