In this video, we’re going to talk about what to do for ADHD. ADHD is attention deficit hyperactivity disorder.
First, I want to start off by saying that ADHD is not genetic-there’s no evidence that says it is. In fact, it’s also not a Ritalin deficiency. From my viewpoint, it’s not even a mental disease-it’s purely a nutritional deficiency.
Symptoms of ADHD include:
• Inability to focus/pay attention
• Hyperactivity
• Restlessness
• Visual learning problems
• Difficulty reading
• Poor memory
A 12-week double-blind placebo-controlled trial showed significant improvements in the behavior of children with ADHD when given high doses of EPA and DHA (750mg) daily.
If you have ADHD, (EPA and DHA) can help. You especially want to take EPA.
EPA and DHA are omega-3 fatty acids. You have omega-3s, and you have omega-6s. Your body cannot make these-you have to get them from your diet.
The problem is, you need more omega-3s and less omega-6s. Omega-3s are far more important. However, the average person consumes 16x more omega-6s.
Omega-3s have antipsychotic properties, improve your cognition, and boost your IQ. They also help with brain development. Omega-3s can improve levels of dopamine and serotonin. They have neuron-protecting powers.
Vitamin B1 can also help your child with restlessness and hyperactivity. Nutritional yeast is a great source of B vitamins.
You can try taking 750 mg of omega-3s EPA/DHA, reduce your intake of omega-6s, and increase vitamin B1 for ADHD.

I have ADD and I had bloodwork done. I was abnormally low on Omega 3’s. After 2 years of taking Omega 3 and a couple months on vitamin D, I no longer feel much brain fog and living in a haze (I’m sure other people with ADD know how living in a “haze” is). I still have ADD, but both the Omega 3 and vitamin D have helped me so much that I haven’t taken any stimulant medication. My distractibility and inattention have drastically diminished.

As a teacher, I have always known what you say to be true. But you are not allowed to address it from this viewpoint in the schools. There is a team process you must go through and nobody ever mentions nutrition. The school model completely sucks. The only people who are allowed to address this issue in this way are the parents if they choose. But they almost never do. So that leaves the teacher with a child out of control. This is sad.

It’s definitely genetic. I only recognised the signs in myself, a lifelong slacker with severely impaired working memory who could never deliver on her high intellect and linguistic abilities after on a trip to the US my sister’s friend suggested my 10 year old get checked for it. Unfortunately since it’s not even a recognised condition back home, it was quite a cumbersome process but finally he was diagnosed with inattentive ADHD. I recognise the exact same trait as mine (inattentive) in my 65 year old mother who is an encyclopaedia when it comes to literature and poetry with whole volumes of poetry committed to her memory but has been unmotivated, spaced out and anxiety prone from as far back as I remember.

I was in a car accident when I was a kid and was in coma and all that good stuff. That's where my ADHD came from. But, since following your recommendations about adding more epa and dha, it's been pretty cool not having to rely on adderoll anymore, which I've been taking forever. I followed a keto diet since march of this year, and lost close to 30 pounds because of it. I mean, I am a little more depressed not taking it, but I'd rather be this way than be on the drug, which really doesn't give you the freedom of living your life. I've been a ginuea pig for most of my life with different medications, sleeping pills, and whatever else would calm me down during the day. But since starting a ketogenic diet, that all dissipated. My question for Dr Berg is if it's in sardines and mackeral, which i consume pretty much on a dailyt basis, what else can I do besides taking it like you explained in the video with more over the counter vitamins (or more dha/epa combinations??

"It's not a ritalin deficiency" lol I kinda don't agree with that it's not a mental disease part though. Sure nutrient deficiency can cause symptoms for some, and adding vitamins etc can ease the symptoms, but their root might be in childhood trauma as well. "Zoning out" from a source of stress in the form of scattered attention as happens in ADHD can develop during developemental phases, as an infant has been experiencing too strong or chronic stress without emotional resolution/release/support. If this happens with strong enough stimuli, or recurrently, it becomes a learned coping mechanism, and changing that needs more than just nutritional supplements. I suggest watching some Gabor Maté, he has done a great study of how the mind/emotions/traumas can affect the body.

Dr. Daniel Amen's work with brain spect imaging goes into the different kinds of ADD/ADHD, as well as different supplements, etc. that help. Peter Shankman's Faster Than Normal (podcast, website, book) gives insight into growing up with it and how to handle it as a kid into adulthood. REALLY good information! :-)

I would not necessarily take him of the medication, but yes correct type of food helps a lot. See my comments above, ADHD is contrary to what Dr, Berg here says linked to genetics same genetic error that can give you Autism and other mental symptoms that then are diagnosed differently. I do not think Dr, Bergs advice on what to eat is any bad, contrary it will help a lot. But I can tell you my life would have been much different if I had gotten the medication earlier in life. I got them after I've turned 30.

Meds doesn't automatically fix habits, which is one of the big issues for ADHD. It makes you more focused, and gives you the ability to change bad habits, but that's about it. At least for me. Got diagnosed as a grown up, and meds really helped, because I could finally change my habits. And as soon they are changed for the better, I will stop taking them. I'm not gonna go on brain altering medication for the rest of my life

@@GoalOrientedLifting No, it's not all, it also helps you keep your new Habits. It enables an ADHD person to have habits. I'v tried to go off the meds, because of how they effect my heart. It doesn't work. I have however lowered my consumption of them to a 1/4 thanks to weight loss and otherwise health benefits with the ketogenic diet. I only take them in the morning (4h pill), to get me started. It seems like if I get started I can maintain focus better although it's less in the afternoon or evening. So now I take 10 mg 4h pills. The prescription is 40-60 mg a day. And I used to have much higher dose 12h pills in the beginning. But they raise the heartbeat and the blood pressure, it felt like being electrocuted (I know how that feels 230V between both hands) . So I'm down to some test pills used for figuring out the proper dose. To lower the negative effect during the day.

I’m going to give this a shot. It’s about $50 on Amazon for a bottle of the higher quality epa/dha and b complex together so it’s not expensive to try. I tried the b complex before that the dr recommended and it definitely had a positive effect but I’m so beyond help that I don’t even think it made that much of a difference for me. I’m highly functional but my mind is a zoo with all the doors open and it’s literal torture to be me. Maybe ADHD is real or maybe it isn’t but what I’m experiencing should probably have a name. I’m not looking for a miracle. I just want to see some positive progress in my life with this.

We all know diet is important for sure & I've made changes from 19 odd and I'm now 33. I've been taking good quality supplements the past couple of years also which have helped slightly. The biggest thing for me and an excellent medical professional agreed with me is be HIGH ENERGY! Gym, swim, long walks, etc. This massively helps mood, sleep and memory. My memory is of a poor standard compared to most whatever I do and my geography skills are awful. I have to sat nav somewhere dozens of times before I get it to stick. An ADHD person has lots of benefits compared to a "normal" person so it's not all doom and gloom. A good % of this video I disagree with but Dr Berg is good and I am a fan of his work. Thanks!

The control group is always another vaccine, if there is a control group at all. And what safety studies exist that prove the vaccine schedule as a whole, let alone a single one, is safe? That doesn't exist either. And how about a study comparing the health of a fully vaccinated child to a completely unvaccinated child? Nope, they will never do that study. If you think it is important to avoid eating pesticide, artificial food additives, not using toxic hygiene products but it's ok to inject metals like aluminum and Mercury, and/or fragmented DNA from aborted fetuses, both causing cascades of destruction in our bodies, you might want to reconsider. Balanced nutrition, clean water, sanitation and hygiene did more at protecting us from infectious disease than vaccination ever could. In fact the mortality rates of just about all infectious disease dropped 95-99% before the vaccines were even introduced. According to HHS funded study, fewer than 1% of adverse reaction are ever reported. The vaccine injury compensation program has paid out over $4 billion, and most folks never knew it existed. These days, more people do know the pharma companies have no liability for vaccines, it doesn't matter how many are killed or injured, than knew 10 years ago. When parents do notice something bad or wrong post vaccination, and try to tell their doctor, they are told that it's a coincidence, or worse that's normal, and that vaccines are safe and the injury goes unreported. That's what happened to us and many other families I know with severely vaccine injured kids. Vaccine injury is not rare, it's underreported and suppressed. God blessed us all with a perfect immune system to protect us, and when we take care of our bodies, especially with proper nutrition, it can handle natural infection with ease. Hell you can learn a bit about that right here on this channel, Dr. Berg has some great videos specific to the immune system.

@@above_genetics neglecting the fact that you have a lot of misinformation about vaccine, what you wrote has nothing to do with what vaccines are, how they work nor it's purpose. Vaccines are highly recommended for the same reason why children should be around dirt and dogs. Eating right is a great 1st step to lessen the effect of viruses. Vaccines had another layer. Just relying only on eating and exercise wasn't enough to prevent populations from succumbing to Smallpox, polio, meningitis or measles and other viruses. And those didn't stop en masse until vaccines came into the picture.

  • @above_genetics

    @above_genetics

@@ayoiawe not one thing I wrote is misinformation, but labeling it as such when you don't have facts to prove it is is quite convenient. I never said people stopped getting infections, I said people weren't as susceptible to dying from them. The theoretical purpose of vaccination is great, but the execution and results are horrible. You don't just get exposed to the pathogen, create antibodies and never get the disease, if they worked the way they are sold to you that would be great. While they do create a small degree of immunity, it is weak and wanes over time creating bigger problems later in life. There are many different nonspecific effects, resulting from our individual biodiversity at point of toxic exposures, from vaccination creating extremely high rates of chronic illness and death. Mostly from the excipients used, not the antigen, things like thimerosal, aluminum, formaldehyde, human albumin, animal and vegetable proteins from gelatins, serums and emulsifiers, antibiotics, polysorbate 80 and many many other toxins being injected intramuscularly and then being transported throughout the body including organs like the liver, spleen, kidneys, heart and brain, typically by the macrophage. You obviously know very little about the history of disease, morbidity versus mortality, what is actually in the vaccines and the consequences of injecting them. I doubt you'll take the effort to research deeper, but for anyone else reading this thread that wants to learn more, there isn't any shortage of books you can purchase, "Dissolving Illusions" is a great starting point for many. If you prefer to listen lectures and presentations Dr. Suzanne Humphries not only presents the historical and peer reviewed data very well she references it all so you can go to pubmed and read the studies yourself. Vaccine Risks, is a great series you can find here on KZread. Find all the archives of The Highwire with Del Bigtree, they do a great job diving into the data. The work of Professor Chris Exley, Chris Shaw and Romain Gherardi is extremely important when learning the extreme dangers of injected aluminum, hell aluminum exposure in general. Theresa Deisher does a great job explaining how the fragmented human DNA found in vaccines interacts with our body and stem cells causing cancers, neurological problems like autism and more.

Vaccines is one of the most tested things in the medicinal world. There are so many studies, done by non-profit or 3rd parties. There are studies that compare those who got it and those who did not get it, and you can see those studies done in Africa. If you actually read studies you will find lots of interesting side-effects. Like how not getting polio, because you took the vaccine, decreased the chance of all-cause mortality. Which they believe it's due to polio ruining your "data bank" of previously experienced viruses and diseases. So this is an example of how not going through the desease the "natural" way helped people survived. The reason people were more resilient, in the old days, is because the weak ones died before they got to be a few years old. They were also exposed to a more dirty environment, than kids today. Which is why allergies are on the rise. If you do read studies or meta-analysis, you also learn how to find the poorly done ones, or the ones were they cheat.

Stimulants work because they spark dopamine in the brain to the pre-frontal cortex (the executive functioning part of the brain) which is what it needs to slow down and focus. Brain imaging via Dr. Daniel Amen has shown that people with ADD/ADHD are lacking in that area. Some people self-medicate with coffee and cigarettes, which has the same effect. That's often why smokers will say that nicotine calms them down. There are other things that help the body produce dopamine naturally; exercise being one of them, as well as a low-carb diet. If you want to go med-free and try supplements, what I've found to be helpful is L-Theanine and Pocana (herb). In addition, I went on a carnivore diet for other health reasons, but it has REALLY helped with the attention side of things as well. You can check out MeatRX on YT as well as the website for more info. :-)

Why not - older or younger age - nutrition does make a difference. I am near 50, recent adhd diagnosis, and whether it's adhd/PTDS/nutrition, I am most definitely already seeing improvement in my focus and mood with strict keto (clean, with lots of veggies/greens, the Dr Berg way), adding B1, B6 and B12 etc. Recently found out I'm iron deficient (extremely low ferritin, not hemoglobin) and that's yet another factor. B12 and iron deficiencies specifically are linked to adhd-like symptoms. Now I'll add the omega3 (cod liver oil) in high enough doses. I'm really looking forward to the "new me". :-) And to you I say - go for it - for sure! :-)
