Does walking burn fat? Is walking good for weight loss? The answer is a definite yes, and in today's "walking for fat loss" video I'll explain exactly how you can effectively lose fat by walking more. In fact, this was one of the key fat burning strategies I used during my last cutting phase and it had a big impact on my fat loss before and after results. Let's discuss the 4 key benefits of walking for weight loss and also answer the question of "how many calories does walking burn". I'll also give you a few important strategies to implement more fat loss walking into your day and also outline a few key cautionary tips as well. I don't recommend that you use walking as your only source of calorie burning, since regular cardio exercise should still be included to some extent. Your cutting diet also still plays a central role in the process, as losing fat and getting lean it ultimately is a matter of calories in vs. calories out when it all comes down to it. You aren't going to simply "get lean by walking", however it can definitely help out a lot in terms of shifting the calories out portion of the equation in your favor in a simple and sustainable way. So, how much walking to lose belly fat and how best to add it into your day? Let's go over it.

Had one client, he sent me his step count data and he had almost _exactly_ 10000 steps per day. Every single day was somewhere between 10000 and 10100. Every. Single. Day. The dude would walk around his house at night until he hit his suggested total. Needless to say, he got really good results.

Was 311lbs and couldn't do much else, so started walking. Once I got better shoes I started to get about 5-8k steps a day, though it was a struggle, then eventually hit 10k a day. This last week I hit 115k steps with my highest day being 32k steps. I've lost 60lbs so far and it's all from tracking calories and walking. I'm not inspiring anyone with my physical prowess, but I'm a lot healthier.

Sean, I have to hand it to you, I viewed several of your presentations and find your content very straight forward and without any BS. I'll chime in on the walking to lose fat concept. It works very well, almost like magic. One thing to do to keep your walks fresh is walk different routes. I walk in my and my adjoining neighborhoods. I drive a variety of routes, record the distances so I can choose the route that best fits the time I have available on that day. As Sean pointed out, walking has a natural relaxing effect which often stimulates brain neurons which stimulates new creative thoughts and ideas. I often come up with creative solutions to various problems while walking. While I'm improving my health, my thought processes open up allowing me to solve problems. Walking is a very easy simple "thing", but inside its simplicity are several hidden benefits. Oh, you can do decent calculations of steps using basic time and distance measurements if you want to work on your math skills.

Hey man, I know it's been 1 year, but do you really just walk and lost that much? Im just looking to lose weight, not gain muscles and stuff, how long do you walk for and your diet, I know you probably won't see this, but just throwing it out there anyway

Hello Sean! Thanks for the content you're bringing, it really is accurate and truthful to reality and I absolutely love it, I wanted to share my experience with fat loss, I used to weight 113 kg and last time I checked with my nutrionist I was 72,4 kg, I started in April 2018 and in 1,5/2 years touched 73 kg but got some weight when I started to lift due to my careless decision to go for dirty bulking upping to 83 kg (then I started cutting again and I'm at 72,4 as I said), I do weight lifting, cardio and lots of different activities like singing or playing guitar, it would be super interesting to know how much calories I may burn with the latter 2 because I tend to sweat a lot when it gets intense like a heavy song that requires lots of breath work(singing) or destroys my wrist (guitar)

I’ve always loved walking, and hearing this I’m gonna do it even more. The good thing for me is that my gym is about 10 minutes of walking away (around 7-8 going kinda fast) so on average I get 20 mins of walking in plus an hour and a half workout on the days I go to the gym. And now that I’ve watched this I think I’m definitely going to go on an hour to hour and a half walk every day to the best of my ability.

I lift at home in the early morning (best time for me) and I started walking on my treadmill between sets. I can usually get between 3K - 4K steps during this time. But I have stalled at fat loss because the diet has not been "front and center", so that's where I need to focus on now.

I'm glad you posted this because 95% of the time I lose fat is through walking. My left knee gives me problems so I can't run anymore, but I try to walk 4-5 miles/day (2-1/2 in the morning and 2-1/2 in the evening). It works. Along with good a good diet and working with weights, walking is the quickest way for me to lose weight.

Solid advice for a great many people. I do think adding more steps tends to be a bigger issue for those of us who are already on our feet all day. If you're already walking grocery store aisles, a dining room floor, or the halls of a hospital all day, it's more difficult adding a substantial amount of steps to your routine. And because our bodies are likely considerably more well adapted to that particular stimulus than most of yours are, whatever additional steps we do incorporate will probably have less of an impact. I solve the problem with my bike. I can add or reduce intensity to suit my mood and goals at the time, and get a bit more benefit for any given length of time.

9:15 That's what I've been doing. Just had an excellent bulk up phase of gaining around 5kg (mostly muscle) in 5 months. Now I'm walking around my house for 90 minutes a day (not all at once) to burn through the excess fat. Already lost 500g in 10 days. Another 500g to go. And I make sure to still work out and eat a lot of protein so my body prioritizes burning fat and not muscle.

I couldn’t agree more, Sean. When I lived in NYC, the walk to and from the subway station & office every day was about 40 minutes (with a slight steep hill walking to the station). Beginning of 2019, I was 206 pounds and obese. I am 5’11. With just reducing my calories and tryna eat as clean as possible and the walks for 6 months, I dropped to 165. My sister visited me and was like omg what the heck happened?? How did you lose your gut, lol. Just walk and avoiding sugars. Mind you I wasn’t working out either , lol so I lost plenty of muscle mass. But happy nonetheless. When you accomplish this, your goal to build your ideal physique becomes a whole lot easier. Now I am 180 working towards my goal. Simply put: Walking works wonders.

Greg Doucette was actually the one that turned me on to walking/hiking for my cardio. It's my go to whenever I have free time, and honestly makes me feel way better when I slip on my diet. Another thing that helps: buy a cheap set of peddlers, those bike peddles you can use anywhere. I literally sit on the couch playing xbox or watching tv while peddling. It's not intense, but it's not just sitting there either

Walking worked wonders for me! As a 160 pound guy at the time, who wanted to go from about 15% to 13% body fat, I found that I was reducing my calories to what seemed like crazy low amounts. I built up to 9000 steps a day, and found that I had to even increase my calories, though still dropped the 6 pounds I needed to get to 13% body fat! I even started to mow my large yard with my gas push mower, disengaging the drive unit, instead of my riding mower once a week, to make up for the busy days, when I cannot get a walk in. Great advise as always Sean!
