WOW!! I was fluent from my own efforts before I came across your channel and, I see that you're relatively new on the KZread scene. I'm 59 so, if I call you ¨dude¨, please don’t be offended until I can better educate myself with your name. It’s strings of bullshit out here in KZread land! You are THE FIRST, and hats off to you, for putting together a GREAT program based on actions which do work! My huge effort, because I’m sitting more of the time, is visualization. Make the sound as accurately as possible and visualize it. Also, I went back to the beginning of Spanish to consider how it was made. What does A, O and E and I, U mean? They are not just vowels. The most difficult grasp of Spanish is 1 and 2 letters long. English has really destroyed the hope of most towards fluency with it’s object-oriented programming. I hope to see GET FLUENT IN SPANISH channel take off and sail!! You are truly a genius who rises above!!

My answers were exactly the same except for #5 I wrote "no vas a recordarlas" because I thought it sounded more "native". I rarely hear native speakers actually using the future tense.. I see it more in writing. Also using his strategy, I should have probably used acordarse since it sounds "less like English".

​@@Daniel-gj1fxEstoy de acuerdo. 👍 I was doing a (too) literal translation of "you won't remember them". I just posted a comment on another video of his that both languages often use "going to + verb" instead of their formal future tense. Great minds think alike! 😂

Your answers are good too. Yeah it would be interesting to know what percentage of the time recordar vs. acordarse are used. I feel like acordarse and it's conjugations roll of the tongue more easily. I tend to use it more than recordar. Great comment. Gracias. Note: number 5 should have "uses" because you always use the subjunctive after "a no ser que" and "a menos que".

00:42 this is good advice. if you ever try any kind of specialized interpreting or translation you’ll learn very fast to be outright suspicious of cognates. Spanish then becomes interesting again especially when you realize some of the cognates you and even some native speakers who’ve live in the US a while use are outright anglicisms that are understood but not correct like “seguranza” to mean “seguro” (insurance) or mantenencia to mean mantenimiento.

Yeah, I think students get a false sense of security about cognates because they teach you basics (embarazada - haha) in class. But you always have to be vigilant. I learnt this the hard way a couple years ago. I was being driven somewhere by a nice, conscientious friend of a friend. He always kept his car in immaculate condition and was complaining that he was having to transport his friend's dog everywhere, getting hair and dirt on the back seat. "Do you have this word, fastidious, in Spanish?" I asked him (in Spanish). When he say yes, I said, Oh, well you're rather fastidious and he ought to know this about you by now. ...Imagine my horror when I later looked it up "fastidioso" just to double check! Alas I never got a chance to apologize for my insult and I still feel awful when I think about it.

You mentioned at the beginning that one reason to choose to use a different word in Spanish is to not sound so much like English. Now, I am sure that many people will not agree with me on this and some may even be offended but one of the reasons that I do not like “Seseo” is because it makes Spanish words sound more like English. Because I use “Distinción” instead of “Seseo” is one of the reasons that I hesitate to speak Spanish. It is my impression that Spanish speakers in the Americas hate that and would find it offensive and far be it from me to offend anyone. One of my Spanish teachers in college spoke “Distinción”. The man happened to be Portuguese but spoke beautiful Spanish. I loved to hear that man speak but I myself did not begin using “Distinción” for many more years until by after I subscribed to a S my panish audio magazine and at first most of the speakers I heard were speaking that way. At that time I was also doing a lot of reading aloud and I began to practice speaking that way and before long it became automatic for me.
