I like how you can tell how genuinely pissed Drew was about some of the products here, in comparison to his other videos. Like sure, a product that turns all liquids into slushes in pretty dumb and useless. But the worst that can do is lose someone $25, not that big of a deal at the end of the day. On the other hand, a product so ridiculously expensive that's supposed to help with mental health but actively makes mental health worse, that's on a whole other level of scummy.
@likeapro4242

And even the useless products he buys in other videos (if they actually ship) often actually do what is advertised. The Work Oneie sucked and was very uncomfortable, but it was a onesie with a business shirt that “had a flap on the back”. The products in this video just helps solidify my lack of faith in humanity

If I could make a slushee in my home whenever with a very sus-coded cup, I would be fine to lose $25. But hundreds of dollars for a vaguely buzzing nothing blub capitalizing off of how capitalism exacerbates brain bad is infinitely less forgivable. The slushee cup is not a human right and it’s my choice to want one so bad to make that specific consistency of ice
my mom bought me a calmigo before a long road trip since i was unmedicated, and for the longest time i thought that it costed 20-50 dollars from how small it was. knowing now that it must've costed her *200+* to even attempt to help me cope with my anxiety is so, so heartbreaking. these companies prey on those who are desperate for hope, and i hope the worst comes for these companies and the people involved in them.

I think lots of people who have never experienced them think it's "just" a panic attack, but when you actually have one you can genuinely think you're dying. Like, crushing chest pain, sense of doom, can't catch your breath, trying not to vomit cos you think you'll choke on it, scared to stand up in case you pass out. You genuinely think you're having a heart attack & dying and can't stop it, and it is entirely sensible to go to the hospital to get checked out.
@mikete01
7 күн бұрын
Hey, as someome dealing with Crazy panic attacks for the past 8 years wich got me into the Doctors office probably a 100 times, let me Tell you Your heart was having an arrhythmia, yes panic attacks usually gives an elevated heart rate, like 100-120 pbm. It's not dangerous, our heart is Fine. When I discovered that my anxiety could affect my body I thought I was Crazy. We're not Crazy, we're Just sick and our Brian (wich is one of the most important organs in our body) had a dysfunction, usually in producing essencial hormanes like adreline - that's a thing in General anxiety - and that's why our brains acts like wacthing a movie is like being hunted by a serial killer, I Felt pretty justified in going to the hospital after that. So Your mind wasn't pranking you, it was only reacting like a serial killer was chasing you (yes our brain cannot Tell that a movie and a serial killer are not the same, that's why It's sick), wich for the rest of Your body wasn't true (because you could SEE It was not, so Your legs understood that they didn't need to run, Your brain didn't). So you're not running and body isn't spending the energy like it's supposed to, Your bodies need to deal with the adreline that Your Brain is producing and he does that by elevating Your oxygen consumption and Your mussel and other organs such as Your heart start racing like Crazy because you are producing hormones and body is getting rid of It. So basically, medication for anxiety stops our Brain for producing Crazy levels of adreline, and medidation helps our Brain Focus so he understands that wacthing a movie and a serial killer are not the same thing. Exercinsing helps you get Rid of the extra adreline by using extra energy and a good food and nutrition intake makes Your Body have good substance so he can produce only the necessary amounts, bc yes foods like junk food usually makes our Brain produce and have nutrients that the only thing they do is produce extra adreline. A good night of sleep regulate the levels of production and resets it, so It helps balance out. So when you go to hospital feeling like you're not breathing you're brain is acting like it's a running a Marathon and heart is following with It. So you need medication or some kind of breathing techinique, like swimmers so you're breathing the necessary amounts in that moment. Every time you go to an ER and they tell your mind is acting up, remember that yes it's true, but is acting UP in your Body, so maybe you're throwing up, maybe your heart is super fast, and sometimes you need medication to control that. Find some way you can stabilize yourself, I learned a swimmers technique and that's helped a Lot. So don't be ashamed to seek help, after all with your organ (brain) is not producing or behaving in the way they should, so it's necessary to search for help. I only understood that when I learned that no my brain isn't acting up or faking It, it's simples cannot produce like It should. It helped me think I'm less Crazy and should Go to the ER when needed, bc If someone has a diseases, and is feeling sick, they need help. It also allowed my brain to identify alarming signals and learn what is ER urgency and what to Just make a Cup of tea and watch dumb videos. Hope It helps like helped when my doctor finally explained I was not creating a disease. It is actuallty malfunctioning. Sorry english is not my First language.

my parents recently got divorced and for a while my dad was having a hard time dealing with all of it and, as a result, was having a really hard time sleeping. one of his attempts to deal with this problem was buying this weird bracelet device that supposedly admitted some type of frequency that "helped with insomnia." and seeing that package and listening to him optimistically describe what it was made me so, so profoundly sad. he's not a very gullible dude, he was an engineer and a math teacher, he's pretty logically-minded but he just really, really wanted some peaceful, relieving sleep. these companies are blatantly predatory and their targets are people who are just desperately searching for relief. it's incredibly cruel and I hope with my entire heart that some of the people who buys these things in the hopes of feeling less bad, at the very least, experience some kind of placebo effect.

I’m very late to this- but incase somebody actually DID want a list of mental health products that help - I gotcha; (also I’m obviously not sponsored, just somebody who knows how difficult it can be to find help without the ability to access therapy) it’s kinda interesting how a lot of the items that I’ve found helpful don’t have the same ‘pretty app’ and sleek design that these so called mental health focused products do. But most of all know that however you’re feeling now, it will pass ❤ here’s my list of ACTUALLY helpful products to try out! - electric toothbrush, for those days you have no energy to brush your teeth. You can keep it beside your bed with a cup of water for the days you cannot get out of bed. - dry shampoo, whatever scent you like ^^ same principle as above. As weird as it sounds, baby shampoo is great if you go along time without washing your hair bc showers feel like a huge task. Baby shampoo is clarifying and it’s usually not scented and expensive - and it’s real cheap too! - a tens machine or massager. Sometimes emotions can get embedded in your muscles and cause tension. Sometimes, being able to have a massage can force your body out of anxiety mode and help you feel better. - non minty toothpaste for my sensory troubled friends. Sometimes mint can be overpowering and make even the most basic of self care feel like a gargantuan task. I got myself a strawberry flavoured one 🍓 - a weighted blanket, esp for those with insomnia. They can be a bit pricey and washing them is a pain in the ass, but you can find some smaller cheap ones that can help you get out of anxiety mode and relax. - a journal or diary, paper or just the notes app on your phone. It’s good to get thoughts out of your head and on paper sometimes, it helps to process things like that. - a gigantic jug of water, or a crate of bottled water. Just have it beside your bed. Sometimes it feels like hell to just move your arm over, so make it easy on yourself Take care of yourselves out there!

The brand yumi makes a no water no rinse “shower foam” that is really good for days you just can’t shower but want to get clean. I’ve got rheumatoid arthritis and on high fatigue days showering would take literally all my spoons. Same brand makes shower sheets but they don’t work as well. Summers Eve unscented cleansing wipes may be designed for your hooha, but they are amazing for freshening underarms.
The saddest part of these products is knowing that a bunch of struggling people probably spent entire paychecks on them in a desperate attempt to survive mental illness. That's depressing.

It's not parasocial to be a fan and take comfort in the things you like, especially if they seem to speak to your problems and feelings. As long as your coping mechanisms don't harm anyone, you shouldn't feel embarrassed or ashamed of them. ❤ and support from another afflicted person
If I recall from my Psych 101 class from 30 years ago, one aspect of anxiety comes from the feeling you can't do anything about it. If you have some random device, you get a false sense of empowerment because you can utilize the device. It's a behavioral placebo.

One evening, it was just me and one of the directors in the office. He pulled me aside and showed me the commercial he had made. It featured inspiring music over beautiful shots of people going about their day and putting this device on. Once the video was over, he asked me for my thoughts, to which I replied, "Beautiful... What is it?" He smiled, looked down, shook his head, and quietly said, "Exactly." Even _he_ didn't know what it did.

The best mental health thing I've ever had was a fidget thing, before the fidget spinner. It was a tiny coiled metal ring that was stretchy. You roll it up and down your finger when you get nervous to redirect your mind. Got it from my therapist because I was having anxiety attacks in my sessions, they are $1 each.
the thing that bothers me the most about the subscription service is that that money could easily go towards one therapy session a month, which would likely be wayyyyyyyy more helpful than anything you tried. you're absolutely right, this is exploitative as hell.

I just realized that the Mendi is literally the same thing as that Star Wars children's toy where you make the ball levitate by focusing on it except worse and way less cool.
For those curious, interoception is actually a sense, it's basically a fancy word for being able to listen to your body's signals. Knowing that you're tired, hungry, need to go the bathroom. That feeling that you really need to eat a carrot since you've had nothing but pizza all day... Interoception can be poor with certain mental disabilities, but like all these other problems, things like therapy tend to help, go figure

no offence intended but that just sounds like redefining/broadening an existing and well defined term. for example: “i get the sense that person x is being y” yes, i used the word sense here but that doesn’t mean that my new invention of “intuiception” belongs in the same category as touch/taste/see/smell/hear. in the same way, knowing that i’m hungry isn’t on par with being able to taste
@MolestedChild
Жыл бұрын
@@mercluke having a feeling about something isn't the same as the literal signals your brain sends you when you need to eat or use the restroom. Also, people with autism often have interoception issues. I often don't realize I'm hungry until I have stomach cramps, sometimes I don't notice I need to pee until i'm about to burst.
I think the worst part is that these brands were actively targeting you because you had a break in your mental health. They’re preying on the fact that you need help, and they say they can sell it to you. I own a drawer of useless shitty stuff like this that I buy because I’d try anything to get some semblance of physical or mental health, and I guess on some level it’s obvious that these companies have been scamming me, but when you’re desperate, you don’t see that, you just see the little glimmer of hope that throwing more money in this sinkhole will make it close up.

As much as I really don't wish panic disorder on anyone, it's a little cool to hear that someone who I really like (creator-wise) is open about how panic attacks can be so debilitating.

I've had one real panic attack in my life and I GENUINELY thought I was having a full blown heart attack I didn't even think it was a mental health issue I genuinely thought my heart was failing

I wonder if Drew is on meds. Lexapro really helped me with my panic disorder. I haven't had a panic attack in 2.5 years since starting Lexapro 🙏🙏🙏

I felt the same way, panic disorder is unhinged, until it's not. It's always comforting to be reminded I'm not alone. Although heartbreaking to hear that someone else has to deal with it. One week after experiencing my first panic attack I was in a mental unit in a hospital but it has been getting better. Wish the same for anyone that is struggling.
I’m glad you’re doing better, it’s tough to keep picking yourself after life decides to go a bit sicko mode. I’m really impressed by your ability to keep making content and especially making really good content. Keep up the good work! We’re all rooting for you.

Agreed! Shows that anxiety can happen to anyone. From the outside looking in, Drew seems like he's got a perfect life ... No matter the fame and fortune, people are people and we all struggle. I like that it's becoming more common for guys to talk about mental health with other guys!
