Love all your tips babe! What a fun hobby we’ve all found and you’re the QUEEN of making it look easy! My favorite DON’T you mentioned: DON’T dip gel into powder, rather pour it over so it doesn’t get bumps and lumps bc it’s different than dip liquids that set quickly. Great advice!

Such a helpful video, thank you. There were a couple don't, first don't leave uncured gel on you skin. The other was don't dip your nails in the powder, do pour over or lay your finger in the powder.

Great video Nicole!! Lots of good stuff here! Some of my favorite "don't" tips are don't apply the gel base at the cuticles. Begin in the center of the nail and work your way back toward the cuticle last. Also, don't dip your fingers into the powder. Pour over the first layer and for the second layer, lay it flat into the powder. The most important don't is to absolutely avoid getting the gel on your skin.

Love shimmers and flakies.I use gel a lot I find I get thinner layers and better application.And minimal filing and buffing.This is a beautiful color.

I am very new to dipping and gels so thank you for this video. Very help tips. A don’t I learned is to not dip your gel into the powder but to use the pour over method. Also, to avoid getting the gel anywhere on the skin or it can cause an allergy. I had no clue that would cause an allergy.

When using gel liquids DO NOT dip nail directly into the dip powder. Pour it onto your nail! I haven’t used flake dip but I’m so excited to try! I just did my first mani today and I’ve watched a ton of your videos! They’ve helped so much!

The biggest DON'T that I learned from your video is to not dip my nails into the container. I should be using the pour over method or laying my nail into a cupcake liner. Thanks for the tips and tricks!

Love your videos! One "Don't" that was a good tip for me is: Don't dip nails into powder when you are using gel. Use the pour over method. If you shove your nail in, the gel isn't cured or set so it will mess up your nails. With glitters you can lay them flat tho into the powder. - Alexis Glebar

Hi hun, your nails turned out beautiful as always. Some of the don'ts are DON'T dip our nails into the jar, instead pour the powder over the wet gel or do it how you were in this video, another don't, don't start applying the base coat at the cuticle because it could flood the cuticle area, instead start at the halfway mark of the nail and go from there and a DO is push the cuticle back even more after applying the product so the cuticle doesn't flood. (I believe that's how you worded it lol, it's pretty close to that haha). Thanks for all the do's and don'ts. Somehow I always manage to slice my cuticles as well. I need to take my time. Something I took away to never do with gel method is to push your nail into the dip powder jar because it will push base gel into your cuticles and you shouldn’t cure gel on your skin!

I need confirmation about the steps because of the finishing steps. Once you are finished dipping with color do you go right in with top coats or do you end with gel base then one or two coats of gel top coat? Also I noticed with glitters I noticed I can'yt top with clear because it seems to change the color or dim the color and sparkle so what is the solution?

I got you Mara!!! Once you’re finished dipping the color, apply a layer of gel base and cure. Then you can do gel top and cure. When you’re dipping glitters with gels- definitely skip the clear powder. Clear powder and gel don’t mix well! After I finish dipping colors (and more importantly, glitters), I like to apply a layer of gel base and cure. Wipe off the tackiness with alcohol, file, buff, and shape. You can even do 2 layers of gel base (curing in between each) if your glitter is really chunky. Wipe off again with alcohol. Layer of gel base and cure. Layer of gel top and cure. Does that help?! Don't dip. Pour over with solids and lay into glitter. Love your videos!

Don't shove it in with gel liquids! 😆 I've been rewatching Schitts Creek lately and this made me think of 'you need to fold in the cheese' 🤭 I haven't used gel liquids, after watching I Def need try them to see the difference!

Ok I caught two never(s): you never want to start applying your gel directly at your cuticle and you never want to keep doing more layers without curing them. Then you won’t have your layers underneath cured.

The one major thing that I have learned is to make sure you cure your thumb separately. If you don't cure it separately it may not cure all the way.

Don't forget to dehydrate your five hands 😂 but I liked hearing to not start at the cuticle but further back and fan it out. It's so opposite of what we would think to do. Also, not dipping your nails into powders when doing the gel method, so they don't scoot around on the nail before curing.

Don’t do more layers without curing the first layer. Don’t leave uncured dip powder on your skin this could cause a gel allergy. Always prep nails before any mani. Use a bond, not just a dehydrator. Bond is sticky, dehydrator is not.
