"Don't stress, nobody's going to be offended if you do something taboo on accident here, it's Lao people" such a perfect description of how Lao people are

There are neg/pros living in every country I've lived in, but I feel a real connection with all things Lao and have from my first experiences to the point I felt like there was always something missing when I wasn't around it even though all the other places were very special in their own right. It's where I feel most at peace.

As you know, one of the most common greetings in Thai is "Sabai dee reu" (Are you well?/How are you?). The answer is always "Sabai dee". That threw me off when I started visiting Lao friends. I thought they were psychic. How could they answer the question before I had even asked it?!😅

I say the same thing to my Thai friends. They greet me with "sawadee cup" and always end a conversations with "cup". "Cup" in Lao is Tight, like tight shirts or pants. I laugh😂 when I pointed to a T shirt on the rack size extra large

@@user-lp7zj4kb8c "Cup" has the same meaning in Thai. คับ = tight. The word used to end a sentence has an "r" sound in it, ครับ, but in informal language is sometimes cut and the vowel changes: ค้าบ... kahp.

That's why I laughed, because it sounded like "cup" in Lao language is tight. I happen to pointed to an extra large shirt. New thing I learn, I didn't know Thai language uses same word as Lao for tight 😅
