I hope one day I can go back and open businesses to create employment for the Lao people (so many move to thailand because they cant make a liveable salary..its so heart breaking) and I hope I can somehow help rebuild schools. Majority of schools in Lao are in such bad condition I feel so bad for the kids and teachers 😪. Thank you for all that you're doing and trying to do. @@LaoLegendsnot many expats are living in laos full time or even part time, they just strolling by doing a few months tour videos. YOU would be one of the FEW expats full time living, who's speaking english and doing daily life videos, so you're gonna be fine, keep showing rural life, city life, ngo videos if any, and videos of history of laos and local culture, women, dating, expectations. YOU will grow your channel soon enough, just like the aussie expat LAOS NOW. HE also ddoes side hustle business where expats go travelling with him, he charges a fee. SO you can be an expat that does tours for visitors and show them around. @@LaoLegends I'd say just approach it through the eyes of someone that's never been there. For example, that was good advice that you can use agents to help you with getting a visa, but how do you find the agents? Are there any scams to look out for? Is it difficult getting around town? What are the transportation options? Where to stay when visitors get into town? The time I visited I was very glad I picked a place near the river, for example. I'd recommend that area to anyone (but I can't remember the name of the street! 😅). But just don't mention places, actually visit the place and show as much as you can. With your language skills, I'm sure you can find places that would allow you to film on their premises (read "advertise their place"!) But again, from the perspective of someone who's never been there. How do I actually get to the place? It's the attention to detail and providing accurate information that'll help you stand out. What are the "must visit" spots? I'd recommend the Victory Monument to anyone visiting. I'd watch a video on that any day.

@-hs2wz This is gold. Was just talking the other day about why Thailand expats don't just get a 1-year visa here and not deal with the hassle in Thailand. Yes, you still only get two land border crossings so you need to fly twice a year here too, but even that with $500-$600 for the visa I think it'd be way less and surely easier than that elusive 1-year Thai visa hassle. Plus it's like living in the Isan when I was there 15 years ago. It's not only viable, but very easy. Going to talk to my agent to make sure I got the details straight then make video. I love learning about Laos. I do think you should mention, however, how extraordinarily difficult it is for someone who is not an overseas Lao or ethnic Lao to get residency (normally 10 years required to get PR), work permits etc. As a white man I can visit as a tourist, leave my money, and that's about it. If i could retire in Laos as I am planning to do in Nicaragua, I would move to Laos, no question. Vietnam is also difficult, but Cambodia is very open to 'long-stay' foreigners with very little headache and no xenophobia. I hope the Lao govt changes its approach.

When I'm not a broke teacher anymore there's a couple different styles of traditional homes I would love to live in one day so would be good to learn. You definitely get a commission on any sales you help make here. I need to find the right agent to work with now.

Welcome! I may have been a bit generous and you're right Lao is Lao whether in Thailand, in Laos, or living somewhere else. If we're talking Lao as their mother tongue then there's over 5 million in Lao and about 20 million in Esan, but feels like we're missing the point of the video here talking numbers.:)
