    Fuel line is getting hot. U are vapor locking the carb. Move the fuel line. Or get some kind of heat wrap around the fuel line. It's obvious its a heat issue. Also removing the rear cover let the air get in and out help it cool. ✌🏼

    I agree with the vapor locking issue. It could also be the ignition coil overheating. You can insulate the fuel line by wrapping it in some type of fabric and then tin foil. Try the fuel fix first. Take the engine door off too. Good luck.

    Hey bro. Good move putting a hole in the fuel cap. I don’t know what the inside of your fuel cap looks like but I’ve had it happen with a couple small engines where the cap stops letting air in and it will cause the engine to die after about 10 mins due to a pressure lock but they are smaller engines than yours so 30 mins for your engine is probably about right.

    FWIW, ran some engineering calculations on Torii. When you're running on pavement at 60 km/h, you're using about 65% of the engine's available power based on its dimensions, frontal area and an estimated 1150 lbs with you, gear and Patti in it. The engine is designed for operation fully loaded with at least 40 deg. C ambient temperature. You've not done any damage to it in your travels thus far - no real need to worry!

    Your instinct is the best guide. When we have a problem on the road we have a new policy. First make a cup of tea and think. Then act. You can use maté if you like to drink grass clippings. But you’re doing great. and so are your Bolivian backers. What a day what a day.

  • @user-qc9sq8bg6e
    @user-qc9sq8bg6e9 күн бұрын

    Not all mechanics are good at troubleshooting an engine they're not familiar with. Your Bolivian mechanics are correct - The engine is fine mechanically. The design of the engine is very robust and made well. It's a single cylinder (one piston) engine, overhead cam design. The combustion chamber is hemispherical, and two sparkplugs are used to allow for higher compression. When troubleshooting, always check fuel first. The fuel filter you replaced did not look like there was any debris which would clog the fuel system. If you were to describe the smell you encountered, it may be helpful. In the meantime, there should be a hose and a screw at the bottom of the carburetor. This is the drain hose for storage of the tuk tuk. Place the hose in a cup, turn the screw counterclockwise a few turns and allow about 50 ml of fuel to drain out. Turn the screw clockwise until it is seated so as to close the drain. Have a look at the contents of the cup. If you see small particles or a bit of different fluid at the bottom of the cup, then the carburetor has to be removed and the float bowl cleaned. You've been getting fuel at stations which do not see high traffic. If their storage tanks are low, there is a risk of dirt and/or water from the bottom of their tanks entering your fuel system. When you are traveling at higher speeds, the dirt or water can get sucked up into the main fuel jet, which will shut of Torii straight away. When it sits, the water/debris will collect in the sediment trap at the base of the fuel bowl, allowing it to start again after a short rest. In the meantime, I'd suggest inspecting your fuel containers for evidence of debris or water. If you washed off fuel spilled with the cap off, there would have been risk of water entering the tank. small bottle of alcohol bought at a farmacia will absorb the water in the system, allowing you to burn it off without damaging anything. Since your tank is small, I'd use about half a bottle, or 100ml. If this still does not help, we can continue troubleshooting offline. Cheers!

    El problema parece ser de carburación Ryan... Si mejoró al cambiar el filtro de nafta es posible que estuviera sucio el circuito, porque la nafta en la Patagonia muchas veces es sucia por los depósitos viejos de las estaciones de servicio. Mi consejo es que no busques un mecánico cualquiera sino un taller de carburación, que revisen el carburador y seguramente solo necesite una limpieza profunda. Suerte! Te sigo desde el norte argentino, ánimo!!!

    It runs to good most of the time to only have 50psi of compression. Next time it does this pull the air cleaner off of the carburetor and see if it looks like the gas is boiling. Your fuel line and filter look far enough away from the engine that I don’t think it would boil the gas. If it is it’s a fairly easy fix. You will need to install a nonmetallic spacer between the intake manifold and the carburetor. Any good shop or machinest came make this for you.

This song is not by Raly Barrionuevo, it's an older one. Check youtube with "añorando - chacarera" and you'll find plenty... I'm looking for the original writers, but it's a rabbit hole...

    If it runs fine on the choke circuit you need to make sure you have the right jet in it for your elevation. Months ago you changed jet when you went to high elevation. You are running too lean. Running lean gives you the symptom of vapor lock but at the elevation and temp you are at right noe it can't be vapor lock. You might ask the tuktuk people to send you a new carb. It's obvious there aren't any quality mechanic there.
