Unless an additional head provides some advantage to the nid bioform they probably wouldn't have one. On the other hand, some of the models in the range definitely embody the amalgamated bioforms (Exocrines have a gun part and a beast part, certain nid weapons have additional eyes/mouths/teeth, nuerogaunts, old biovores, etc.).

@@tylerblevins4083 exactly, since as a hive mind there's not much reason to have additional heads (extra mouths though, maybe). But with Malstrain there's an excuse to go REALLY wild and make some tyranid hybrids that look like they should not exist! I want some malstrain models to look like chaos spawn that were born rather than made. Gimme that Annihilation/Colour out of Space/Junji Ito/Parasyte nightmarish goodness.

Asking GW not to screw something up is like expecting a politician to do as they say, I say this hoping this new necromunda stuff continues to be class myself as I'm looking to get into the game.

"they've got a talent for this, the people they employ" Sadly not in the case of that model - the sculptor was Stephen May, who went freelance as DeathEarthMiniatures a year or so ago, and his work at GW/FW is only just coming to light now.

Considering how far ahead of release the sculpts get done, I'd say this kind of thing happens quite often.

GW should go MAD! Some of their fractions are amazing, but lacking the utter terror and wild craziness that the lore, and some of the art gives us a small idea about... GW should show us!

the Methstrain Crackstealers are good. Not sure I like floaty Metroid thingy as part of the same force, but it's definitely great.

A body horror range like this would make Genestealer Cults look SO much cooler and more distinct. I dunno, maybe a spin off cult detachment or something but honestly I'd rather have this aesthetic wash out into the entire faction.

I would love to see some of the concept sketches for these designs, it would give us some insight into whether the designers were told to go harder or reign it in a bit. We then would get a measure of how far GW corporate are willing to go with these designs. The 3d printing community will obviously take this one step further!

Everyone’s like “aw man, this should bleed out into the actual Genestealer’s range” which, yes it should, but tbh, I feel the best 40K models as a whole come from Necromunda.

Hoping this isn't the midpoint yet, rather the start of a increasingly creepy line. It is so good that it makes the death guard Felthius and tainted cohort look even more cartoony in comparisson.

The way their exoskeletons don't properly slot onto their frames, looking like loose sweaters and halloween masks, REALLY reminds me of the hybrid from Aliens: Resurrection.

I'd like to see something proper mad, especially for the patriarch/broodlord. I'm doing a Lovecraftian theme for my Nid army, and I'd love to add these in to make them more than just a "Cthulu tentacle face scary wooo" army.

I've discovered an early tyranid model called the slasher grabber, they were illustrated in advance space crusade and actually were cast, look like these, or it was the grabber slasher lol

That was a quality battle report Kiri! The Malstrain should definitely be body horror writ large. It's an opportunity for the designers to go mental and create some proper horrific designs!

The main Aspekt what could GSC be is the idea of infected machines. I would like to see GSC going to be alien & machine hybrids. Like Ad Mech in bioform. Tanks mit Tentacles, Walker mit claws and so on...

The Slaanesh harp is a riff on a Hannibal TH-series' episode. Also these gene stealers should get worse. However, also want to see the started genestealer queen arc to completion and the mini from it.

I think the Tyranids are descibed in the lore as such horrors that I would love to see them make something so horrible it would scare your socks off...

What's really disturbing is that the Hive Mind DOES NOT WANT TO REABSORB these abominations, to the point of avoiding Necromunda altogether. And that thing will eat salad from a Glasgow kebab.

Theses models are super fucking cool, and as an avid ‘nids player, I love them and will be getting them, however, I also disagree with letting this aesthetic bleed out too much into the mainline nids. 1. It would make the necromunda ones less unique, which is a shame bc it’s the perfect setting for these guys, and 2. The aesthetic, specifically the malstrain coalescence, tiptoes right up to the edge of the”too much” for me, if only because it starts to look more like a Nurgle thing and less like a ‘nids thing. Very cool still, but the more the mainline moves to grotesque mutants from optimized murder monsters, the less interesting it is. IMO, at least.

The coalescence is very cool… unfortunately that horrific style cannot have broad appeal. I’ve showed it to friends who aren’t in the hobby and they’ve been mostly put off by it. Fact is games workshop doesn’t want to have things in store windows that will make people not want to enter the store

They put rules for a destroyer virus necron army in white dwarf, a malstrain detachment for Tyranids and GSC would be great. Hell give every faction a wierdo list. 13th company space wolves, abhuman ig go nuts.

Base genestealers already have some neat body horror with the aberrant and abominant but with the malstrains they can really really and I mean really stretch their legs

I don't know if I want Tyranids to be malformed, I love the perfected evolution vibe they have now. I don't object to the horror aspect, I'd prefer it go with GSC or maybe make it something that could ally with proper 'nids... 🤷🏻‍♂️

Going to leave my piece about primaris. The lore is what breaks my heart the most and I feel like it's chucked full of faux grimdark. Primaris has a 40%failure rate (unless your a named character) Primaris dreadnoughts kill the pilot(leviathan dreadnoughts could already do that and were Infinitely cooler)

Malstrain Broodlord would be fantastic to see

They are NICE Models, but not really what the Future of the Whole Tyranid line would be, hence their place in Necromunda. I dont see all the Hive Fleets going that way and people being happy, that would probably be a less "corrupted" iteration of what the nids already are - just like the new Standard Nids they already do

Well that thing makes hemunkalus and wracks look like puppies. I think they should do more of it. same as space marine and imperial guard should go more gothic. and tau more cyber, tau more brutalistic, and eldar more toward art deco.

Extra gribbly alternatives sculpts for the Genestealers - and associated critters like the Malstrain Coalescence - are more than welcome. The super messed up, midnight-dark corners of the 40K universe are always a lot of fun. The main Tyranid and Genestealer Cult range can remain as they are while also allowing for an extra layer of extremely messed up body horror to be explored through corrupted Malstrain offshoots from the mainstream of Tyranid bioconstructs. If the Tyranid Swarms were somehow to encounter Malstrain Genestealers that managed to get off world from Necromunda by some means, then doubtless the Hive Mind will consider these creatures so degenerate that they cannot be integrated into the main body of the Swarms, but maybe the Norn Queens could instead create a mutagenic contagion from their biology that could be seeded onto worlds and colonies to swiftly horrifically twist their infected populous into nightmarish monsters or something like that. 'Best' (for a truly deranged definition of 'best') of both worlds right there for Tyranid and Genestealer Cult players and anyone else who likes the darker, more body horror aligned aspects of 40K lore...

I like the idea that the Malstrains would corrupt any Nids foolish enough to incorporate them, showing that there's things out there that are too much for even Tyranid biology to handle, with the Malstrains themselves being the closest to a stable form that this degeneration can embody. If anything, Tyranids would be the lifeforms most at risk when handling Malstrain physiology, they'd probably be a great weapon used by the Imperium or other factions to infect and corrupt Hive Fleets,making them more horrific, but crippling their natural abilities to completely consume worlds.

@@rootsnootthnute8598 In the Tyranid lore Norn Queens control the introduction of any new genetics into the Tyranid gene templates, weeding out anything that is harmful or counter productive and augmenting any useful attributes. If Malstrain genetics could not be properly integrated they would simply not be used in future bioforms. Remember, the Bugs have been doing their thing for billions of years - this won't be the first time that some of their creatures have been exposed to exotic weaponry and mutated. There is no silver bullet counter to the Tyranid Swarms, that is Tyranid lore 101 and always has been. The Tyranids can adapt to any attempt to attack then with bioweaponry, and that would include mutated bioforms being returned to the fleets.

they should let them take to the next level I mean think about it you want secundus be the best stand alone ever so they should take it up a level ok not to much as the gang get there hunting team should also give us one or two monster for secundus plus don't forget this hive dos have ambot's and cyborg ogryn's will we them in the must horrifying way in plastic not forge world and will we so old and new hired gun such as small tank with for guns. but with that being said we all know what we want
