My first TK attempt was a Rubies Supreme. Later discovered it wasn't quality enough for the 501st, and tried to modify it to work, but later discovered it would cost too much. So I'm gonna a turn it into a Shadow Trooper or Sand Trooper at some point instead. I ordered a full commission from RS Prop Masters instead, but I agree with the other poster, not everyone wants to be in the 501st, and for those looking for a more detailed costume than the $200 fabric crap shoots they sell at Halloween City its a nice midway suit. But the price is absurd, I bought mine for $500 from a local costume rental store, so I would check there if you have one, or Mercari/Let Go. 😎 Overall I'd stay away, but IF you must get one, that's how I'd obtain one.

The rubies storm trooper armour isn't too bad, especially if your not wanting to be in the 501.. the helmet isn't too nice though. Show me a worthy 501 kit for 1000 that hasn't been used... most kits i see are at least 1500+ that you also have to trim and put together with tools which costs another $400+ Most people cannot afford that and just want to have a fun once a year for halloween or their local convention. Which is just fine.

Thats true, one other commentor said that if they can get a used rubies armor for like 300 then it is worth it. but 1000 is like waaaaay to much

I was super lucky to get a rs prop masters ANH stormtrooper diy kit for around 600 euro on a annual black Friday deal. The suit is off the bat 501st acceptable and fulfils the legions upper level centurion level acceptance (very specific requirements that are not necessary). Rs are honestly the nicest providers out there and alongside this have a comprehensive build series on KZread for both there stormtrooper and scout trooper. Highly recommend :)

The Rubies helmet looks wrong

I got the Rubies Chewbacca costume. Beyond bad. The Boba Fett one I just look at the videos on KZread if I ever want a laugh.

Thank you! was going to buy a second hand Rubies but didn't want to look silly. So not going to buy there is another video about wearing a Rubies and it doesn't work.

or how about you just let people enjoy what they like? If there's something that grinds my gears it's a 501'st snob ranting about how bad a licensed costume is and how people are mocked at for wearing them. screw the 501'st, people get into costuming to have fun and not to feel insecure about the only choices they might have had.

Normally I would let you comment be. After all everyone is entitled to their own opinion, and this is also a very old video. Here is why I strongly disagree with your comment. 1. I never stopped anyone from buying this. However, from my experience, there is no target market for this costume who would feel positively about it due to the price. I stated in my video that the costume is not inherently bad, it's the price for the quality. 2. Im not a 501st snob. At the time of making the video I was not in the 501st, and two years later I am still not in the 501st, nor do I have any plans to join. I want people to get into costuming. There are so many ways to start. Building your own costume is fun and a great learning experience, and there are better cheap finished costumes out there for those worried about making mistakes. FAR more. With this video I want to spare others the pain of the excitement and then the immediate disappointment I felt. $1200 dollars is a lot of money for any person to be spending. Might aswell warn them there is better uses of their money. And guess what? If the costume makes people happy, they can simply ignore my video. If they like the costume, all they have to do is say "I disagree, I like my costume." and then move on with their lives. This video isn't for those people. The video is for people like me from six years ago. Have a great day.
