As someone who owned an Alienware M15 R2, was properly taken care of and the fans died about 30 days after the warranty ended, fans are also almost impossible to reach on that model without causing serious damage. 1/10 probably wouldnt even buy a dell laptop again

i have an m15 r4 and the motherboard was fried in the first month and recently had to send to repairs for the heatsink being completely damaged - this was like 3 years after purchase

I have an Alienware M15 R3. It's gone in for repairs because of overheating 4 times. One of which I think was the repair people's fault because they put in the wrong type of fans, but the rest are all on Alienware.

mixed bag, my first gaming pc was an Alienware Aurora R3, had i7-2600k(legendary cpu of its time), 16gbs of ram(8gb was standard), and AIO(99% of the pc's had AIR, nothing wrong with AIR tho), 2xGTX450s 1gb/ea in SLi(played any game I threw at it, upgraded to an EVGA GTX680 FTW 4gb, beast of a card at the time), the case made me think Cadillac of cases, was never unstable, only hot summer days the fans would ramp up for a min...but to me it was great, got it for a steal also, paid 1k, went to Dell/Alienware and it was still over 2200$...Will never forget that PC, I now run a PC I built and it is great...

What’s the monitor you use?

Got an R12 back in 2021, and I modded the shit out of it Replaced all stock fans, replaced AIO, added 2 extra exhast fans and 1 extra intake fan, push/pull on the AIO (went from 2 stock to 6 good fans) Repasted everything because stock pasting is crap, thermal pads for GPU + VRM heatsinks, actually got a proper pcie 4 ssd Safe to say it runs like a beast and was good value because of the sale prices they go on, 100% worth it only took ~$200 to fix it up and it runs really well and cool with a 3070, only thing I will give a knock on it for is the crappy motherboard which limits most components like RAM

What are your thoughts on the new 2024 Zephyrus g14 and the g16 🤔🙂

Starforge is really good, I would compare it to powerspec in a way, the only problem I ever had with one of them is a cracked sidepanel but they quickly sent out a replacement

I'm playing with an aurora r13 and the only mods/upgrades I've made are another 16 gb of ram and an amd radeon 7900xt (before anyone asks, the nvidia equivalent was too expensive). I got the pre-built for a clearance price of 1300 dollars, the gpu for 800, and the ram for less than 60. Not only is the case easy to open, it has a clear side panel. Buy whatever pc you want.

Look at the r16, its really nice, super nice watercooling, ddr5, 4070, i7 14700kf and 32 gigs of ram for 1700 (whenever I got mine) and a 240 mil water-cooled CPU. It's these old designs that are horrible, and yes it may not be the most upgradable system. The price has shot up after the holidays though and I wouldn't have gotten one if it were the price it is now. Opinions are opinions, lots of people hate alienware because of their designs with fan cooling but on the other hand, they are really good plug in play computers if you can find them at a decent price. That's just my experience with alienware, my last dell computer, a gaming laptop, was terrible, it broke every other day and the graphics card overheated and had to be replaced two times by dell.

My dell laptop gaming computer has served me well although it’s gtx 1650 is smelling a bit crispy now a days

at that price in my currency (USD), i'd most likely recommend you to build your own system at that point since labor costs would take up about 1/3 of your budget. zach's tech turf is a great place to find budget builds to make and get overall first-build knowledge.

As someone who is currently using an alienware aurora r12, I have but one thing to say. BUT MY FWEN SAD NOW!!!

I got an Alienware X16 R1 laptop with a 4080 in it for starting high school last spring as a gift from my dad. The gaming capability is great but it’s extremely glitchy. At first, I couldn’t install Gaming Services from the Windows Store and now I can’t open the Windows Store at all. Dell also has no customer support so yeah…

IBUYPOWER =IBuyProblems Their performance cost ratio is terrible, they cheap out in everything they can, most of their models come with generic power supplies, which is literally dangerous and in general, their quality is just bad. Im not saying all their models are bad, but if you can build or get built a PC, do it instead of buying crap like theirs. That way you can make sure what parts are used to ensure the best quality possible.

i have a Corsair pc, its great no probs with it other then only 2 tb of storage but i have 2 external drives totaling out to 22 tb of storage so its fine (specs include a 4080, 19 13th gen, 32 gb ram and cant remember other specs)

Based on my experience, AW are better in the Laptops and Monitors side than they are on the Prebuilt side. Largely due to them prioritizing design. Think of them as like Ferrari if they shoved the engine of the F50 in front instead of the back, Alienware clearly cares more about having an attractive design more than having enough room for the parts because the design would stand out for casual/newbie consumers anyway.

well this is unfortunate, i have an aurora r11 and have had it for about 3 or 4 years now it has a gtx 1660 ti, i7 10700F and 16 gigs of ram and i havent swapped anything major and it runs every game over 100 frames, its incedible, idk how it runs so well but its top tier and I even locally host my own servers in many games that me and my friends play and i can run everything so smoothly so idk. Its a beast

Alienwares are not bad, they are bad compared to their price. For the price you payed for your r11 you could have easily gotten a 3090 32 gigs of ram intel I9 (about 4-5 times more powerful than your Alienware) with a case that can actually fit multiple ssds with fast read and write. Alienwares are a scam

I have an r10 with pretty higher end specs in it and overall the airflow isn’t too bad and my temps are quite decent for the specs that I have even when playing higher maintenance games. I’d say though for checking on parts and cleaning it’s not a good option at all and it does come on the pricier end but I have had issues with display to my monitor and will occasionally have to connect my pc to a hdmi device instead of using my display port just to fix my display and then I’m fine to use it with the higher hrtz

upgrade the CPU first. It'd be a dumbass idea to run an insane graphics card with a puny processor. You should get a ryzen 7 5800, or an i7. Either one is great, price wise, and performance wise

I didn't think anyone was dumb enough to buy an Alienware pc since Dell bought em.

Save your money and just buy a regular Dell. Dells are great, arguably some of the best computers on the market, especially for business use. However, their Alienware units are just as you said - Dell's gaming computers. They're not great, you're really just paying for the name, and really for the case and looks. So either just buy a regular Dell, or build a computer. However, I would recommend staying away from MSI laptops - their spare part market is pretty non existant.
