I am a singer and I sell my music and merchandise on my website. I was wondering if I should form an LLC since I do have assets. I also use a stage name that is different from my own.

Hi! Thank you so much for the video. I opened an Etsy shop a few years ago as a hobby business. Now I'm starting to turn a profit so I want to turn it into a real business. I've been wanting to register it with the state but I'm unsure on all the taxes and how to pay them once I'm registered?

Thank you for sharing your most recent video. I usually think about registering my business with the state. If I were to register my business online, do I need to register my business on Etsy? As you know, I do have a small business in Bookkeeping and Accounting. It is also a home based business wherein I am a sole proprietor of. Hello Rickey! Happy new year - thanks for commenting. No, Etsy is a site for people that sell home made type goods, decor or jewelry... there's a lot of online sites that let people start selling products or services quite easily as well, so many ask this question about registering their business..This applies to anyone just getting started though. If you are registered it sounds like you are good! Definitely more videos coming!!!

If I have assets to protect, would it be wise to form an LLC before starting my online business, even if it takes a while for that business to make any income?

sure, if you have assets and think people might sue you based on the work you are doing - then yes. If you aren't making income then the business may not be "started" and therefore the LLC may not protect you... that's a question for a lawyer... but they will always tell you to form an LLC because that's what they do...

@@businessfinancecoach Thank you for your reply. I think what you're saying is that a business can be active without being "started." I've heard of risking an audit if you claim deductions without showing any income, but not that LLC's are required to have an income or post profit. However, you've given me some info that I will need to research. Is there an income threshold for a business to be considered "started"? If I get a profitable business going, are the courses you offer deductible?
