    From what I’ve learned with dent removal is you work around the dent working your way into the middle. This will relieve the tension of the dent and sometimes just doing the outer edges will the center of the dent. Dents with creases are the most time consuming because the crease has to be worked on first before anything will come out. Always good to see honest testing on things readily available items to the public.

    Just a heads up the bottle you put denatured alcohol in it. That will get the glue off the tabs (the super big one you had) and off the car. The types of glue are for the heat where your at. The black is best to use in winter and clear/yellow for the hot. They also make a red one as well. Unfortunately those tools won’t work for your car you’d need a actual tool bad and go under the hood with a torch i would suggest. And I’d use a pdr hammer and white tool to knock down the high spots. But anyways I do this for a living those kits unfortunately won’t work for you good because of the metal it’s a old car and your hood will just oil can. (Which is what kept happening when you jumped in it). Anyways those tools definitely work just not in those dents.

    Heat gun helps remove glue. Just melt the glue to the point it's soft and it comes right off with the scraper. Dent pullers like these aren't meant for creased dents like the last one you're trying to pull. You're better off using a mallet and block from underneath and trying to bang it out.

  • @litigioussociety4249
    @litigioussociety4249 Жыл бұрын

    Dent pullets aren't really for small dents. They're for popping back out large dents. For small dents, banging them from the inside, and covering them with Bondo is most effective. In general, one tries to get a large dent as smooth as can be, and then you just Bondo over the creases, if you really want it looking good.

    Love the videos man. Always fun to watch. The spray bottle is for alcohol to help remove the glue. The Different color glues melt at different Temps and bond harder to the car (in my experience). As someone who uses the slide hammer method every day in a factory setting, along with curved rods from the inside. You have to start from the outside of the dent and work you way in. Your car body might be too thick though for the glue and those dents might be too big. When I have to pull a dent out of a car too, never light tap the hammer unless it's close. Always use one sure smack. Alot of factors play into the whole thing though, mat thickness, the curvature of the hood and the size of the dent and puller all play a part.

  • @presto709
    @presto709 Жыл бұрын

    The dent pullers couldn't work because you filled the whole dent with glue. You would need to use a smaller puller and only glue it to the lowest point in the dent. I think the ones you used were meant for larger dents.

    From what I remember of autobody class, Dent repair on panels and hoods, done right, requires heat. Granted, you can do dent repair on painted panels but typically you want to use a deadblow mallet and a tool I'm forgetting the name of underneath/ on top of the dent. You hammer in circles around the dent, and the vibrations-assumuming you heated the metal correctly-will slowly pull the dent in or push it far out, and the ur becomes a balancing act. And also, you do need to quench the heated spot lol. I'm sure it sounds very barbaric, but it's surprisingly fun.

    We use those slide hammers with hot glue at a auto manufacturing plant I work at. I think that glue is cheap and not quality. Because the stuff we use has gotten deforms out of door jams, hoods, side panels petty easily. And we have a heat setter that makes that glue come off really quickly. Although when we use em we’re usually setting them to bare metal. That might help with strength for us. And we also use dent pullers using a stud welder. You gotta get one of those for your next car video. It’s only around 125$ at harbor freight it obviously won’t be the quality tool that most body shops would use. But it’s essentially the same thing. It welds a little metal rod onto the dent (usually multiple studs for the same dent) and you just set the slide hammer to the stud using a little lock wheel on the tip of the hammer. And just slowly pull each stud until it’s out. Then break the weld by bending it at the weld or just cut em with a grinder and sand em flush. You gotta try em. They are awesome.

    Tyler, Tyler, Tyler......Let me help you out... The bottle is for denatured alcohol. It is used as a release agent for the glue. If you spray the alcohol on the glue tab after you use it, it will come off the tab. The same goes for the panel you are repairing. Also if you heat the panel with a heat gun or torch until it is warm (you don't want to burn your paint), the metal will move much easier and the glue will bond much better as well. All of the glue products do work, as I use them on a daily basis. Also, if you let the glue dry for too long it can become brittle and lose its designed strength. Pulling the dent just a little bit after the glue is dry to the touch is usually your best window. It is also much easier to get the correct amount of glue if you put the glue on the tab first and then stick the tab to the dent. I hope this helps!

    You need to scuff the plastic attachment bottom to get it to stick to the glue more. Also use a hair dryer to heat the glue after wards to remove it from the car surface. The type of dent matters also. The slide hammer dent remover you need to keep constant tension and proper alignment when using it. It’s more about using the hammer to get the last bit of pull not all of the pull.

    That's the problem with the Suction cup ones they always pop off before the dent can be pulled out. Best guess the spray bottles is for water for the suction cups. I love how your videos is giving itself crickets🤣.

    The second one would actually work if it was not a thing produced for 5$ maybe, because I know for sure shops that use high end versions of these and do these dent repairs, and it takes skill as well its not a 5 minute tutorial manual work, it takes time to learn this, but it will for sure work, just you need practice and probably a better tool, the other ones are I would say really janky, and just for "it will do" situations.

    Those types of dents you made are actually stretching the the hood especially the one with the metal Hammer haha. I’ve used one of those on a fender dent and it popped right out.

    I've bought the slide hammer kit and still have it to this day. it's worked for me and pulled out a big dent I got on my door. I do agree that some hoods are just hard to pull out dents. But that kit has worked for me when doing doors and quarter panels. AND THE SPRAY BOTTLE IS FOR ALCOHOL TO HELP TAKE THE GLUE OFF LMAO.

    Best way to do it, a small dent like you where causing with the hammer, nothings really gonna pull those out. At my shop we usually use bondo on those, with the big dents we get a stud welder and weld a stud and get a rivet puller and pull the dent out with that, and fyi a dent in the hood is hard to pull. If it’s to big to Bondo, usually just have to buy a new hood, at least that’s how we do everything in my shop
