PDR tech here. Some of those dents have crowns those need to be tapped down to relieve pressure off the dent. Try the black glue and make sure surface and tabs are super clean. I've been doing this since 98 it is an art. Board placement is everything. Also cross checking is very important dents need to be looked at vertically as well as horizontally.

Agreed. I just bought a similar kit because of a HUGE (3.5”) door ding crease from a windy day at the park. It happens. I can tell you the lifter is not bad. The tabs SUCK in these kits. Also, the glue sticks are horrible. Buy some good glue for your temperature and humidity area. If you buy a crease or round tab variety pack, Anson Tools puts in 4 of their round tabs. All were fantastic. Tapping down seemed workable in the kit. Watch Dent Time…He has some great tutorial videos for free. As this Tech said…The light board placement is critical. Overall, the OP of the video had a great start, and it looks like you watched a video or two. Btw, even the weak pulls from the tabs still move the metal…Might be very small, but it always moves a little (except crowns). As the Tech said…Without the crowns being tapped down…And the sharp pointed dints being tapped into a larger shallow dent…Sometimes the metal just moves to a point and stalemate. Alleviate the stress…If you over do it…Pull it some more. Again, I’m not a professional. Just took out a simple door ding, a deep door ding on a body line, and then a door ding on a hard body line with a LONG CREASE. I got them 98%. I had to watch the Dent Time videos 2-3 times. Great job starting!

Yep..that is an art. Those same tools in someone experienced hands and it would be perfect. Should have taken a hammer to some random sheetmetal first to practice.

If it is more than a simple door ding, I'd hire a pro like you. Or if I were looking for a perfect result. I just wanted to show, if you handed some cheap tool to a complete novice, what he could realistically do.

Starting my PDR Journey here, it's not for the faint of heart! It's overwhelming with just the tools alone not to mention understanding and manipulation of material and panels

Enjoyable video lol, I like how you break it down into small, simple steps and narrate clearly.

Well, with a line board. Where you see the lines pinch together , then that is a high spot. When the lines spread out , then that is a low spot. To find you pdr tool (rod) tip. Look at the reflection, push anywhere with the lineboards reflection. Where you see the lines pinch , then that is where your tool tip is...... So when you push you are making an undamaging high spot to locate the tip of your rod.

When using tools (bars) you should also use the reflective board. It gives you a much better chance of seeing where the tool tip is in relation to the area you're trying to left. Good work on the glue pulling. 👍

Superb video... I have a pdr kit.. and the tabs fall off... pros make it look sooo easy...

You did good, start at the small end of the dent first, small led light eith a magnet is good, and so many different rod shapes you could use or make, even out of cheep pry bars from hf. Even out of wood tapered down. Good idea using rubber tips

Suction cups with an air pump will do a way better job. And I have never seen so short dent rods. I have a striped hand sail instead of the striped led lamp. Does the same job, but is way easier to handle. But all in all it looks *way* better now

I bought the harbor freight body and fender kit, and restored a nasty hit in my rear fender, it's not perfect but it isn't noticeable anymore

Keep in mind that these videos show professionals with pro pdr gear, charging the car owners hundreds, if not thousands of dollars to repair.

Depending where you are in the world to fix a dent could cost from a medium amount to something that doesn’t make any economic sense, if repair it’s been done by a “professional. On the other hand , every skill acquired it will help out you and the ones around you for a life time . All it takes it’s patience and trying. Like that I ve learned to diagnose my cars alone , to do body repairs to a more than satisfactory condition, now I m into timing chain and engine repair. Don’t be put back by any so called professional or the other category that will not replace a wiper to their car in their life time . Every time you don’t succeed you re closing down towards a better outcome than the last . When you start again , you don’t start from scratch but from experience. To be fair to everyone, PDR it’s not for everyone but if tried it will help narrow down some areas that other wise will need some capital repairs probably and than you can find other classic methods to finish off . Also a big thank you to the professional that share here in the comments some of the trades secrets, most of the times it’s about to get to see it as a professional see it . Other than that all the best to everyone and yeah, good and informative material . Keep it up .

You have a glue gun... you can use that to soften the tip on that tool

Haha I also have rubber caps that are used to seal off vacuum ports, but I wanted to try the tools as they were.

Please go to a professiona pdr tech to get a perfect result. The tools that we use are much better and away more expensive. Pdr techs need years to get the skills for doing their jop well. I did! At the end, I recommended to call the pros when the dent is much more complex than a simple ding. Much respect to the pros, this is NOT as easy as it seems.

you obviously didn't watch enough PDR videos because if you had you would have known to thoroughly clean and even polish the area first if necessary to give the glue tabs the best chance to hold than you would have released the tension in the dents with those things you called plastic points (ie: knockdown tool) which at least with the first dent would have probably removed 80% of the dent without doing anything else and by trying to pull the second dent without knocking down the crest all you did was stretch the metal and the squeezy thing is called a mini lifter.......

it worked for him, each dent is very expensive to repair at pdr places. The $40 was well spent.

Honestly even if you drop $1000 on a few "professional" tools it's still cheaper than paying for PDR it you own multiple cars and want to make big dents become small dents. If you have curve or flare dents probably call a professional though lol

I liked the fact that you showed how well/not the amazon tools worked. I bought one from amazon, not quite as many tools as yours but.. It didn't work very well compared to the more professional one I have at work.

I'm betting you just don't have the skill set. Give these tools to a pro and see what they can do. Dont blame the tools when the user knows not what he is doing.
