I can't wait to see Tobias Collyer start playing for the first team! The only signing from Ralf Rangnick when he was at Man Utd! He is training with the first team now! So far all the players that RR has asked Man Utd to buy (which we did not buy) have turned out to be excellent players for other clubs who have bought them! So let's see if Tobias Collyer can make it! Also, what ETH has said in this presser makes a lot of sense! And he is honest about the team when he says " We are not there yet"! This man knows what he is doing! I am backing him all the way!

That's what I wanna hear Ten Hag acknowledging the amount of incredible talent we have coming through the club. Potentially they could save us alot of money. Yes we need to be competing but at the same time I'm prepared to see these youngsters develop & build a team. Youngsters like Lacey, Amass, Ethan Williams, Ibragimov, Fitzgerald, Jack Fletcher over the course of next season could be the next wave of youngsters to break through. The likes of Kambwala & Gore plus Amad should permanently be part of our first team next season aswell whilst signing players we know will improve the overall quality

I think that it are a good idea to get young talents from academy under contract and then let them try their wings for others in 2 year contracts. Trying out other clubs and environments are also part of building character. This club have had to many periods with to much "player power". One of the issues that also affect us right now. Trying out new environments, when a young talent, are a good thing. Might even create some income via the named contracts thus even benefiting both parties. Even loan/swap deals with other clubs could be an advantage for all, in my opinion.

It’s a nice dream but the reality is not all will make it. Next year we will want another batch of youngsters coming through and the same a year after but we should only be bringing through the best of the best with world class potential. Only Mainoo and Greenwood in the past few years are in that conversation.

If Man U don’t give this guy another season I could in part understand it, but I think considering he’s come in and had to do a lot of necessary dirty work and be bad cop more than good cop, he deserves a chance. It’d be interesting to see how he does in a full season under Ineos. I think he’s improving as a manger in the PL game by game presser by presser. I get you can’t just work off chances at such a big club but he deserves an opportunity to work under greater stability and internal structure.

United have had 249 academy players represent the senior squad - almost half the players that have EVER played for them that doesn't include the lads unfortunate not to make it for United - who have gone on to further their careers elsewhere Their academy is the most successful one in the country in regards to that, 3rd in the world - and has been for decades

3:09-3:29 this might be an unpopular take, if FFP is preventing us to buy players in the future and Manchester United decided to rely more on the young players (17,18,19 y/o) to play week in week out. I would take that and finish 6th every season while slowly developing Carrington players until they're ready for PL and UCL rather than spending £83m on Antony and giving 3+ year contracts and 150k-250k wages to 30 y/o Casemiro, Varane and nearing mid 30s Cavani, Ibrahimovic, Ronaldo to barely scrape 4th every season.

We've finished 2nd once and third twice in 3 of the last four seasons. Also Varane was 28 when we signed him, a completely reasonable age for a centre back. I take your overall point though. Of course we should be expecting our recruitment to improve given the people apparently being put in charge of that stuff now.

McTominay fair enough but we should have won that Wolves game by a cricket score. The fact we didn't win comfortably was precisely what you referred to; "moments", except they were moments when the ref gave a nonsense penalty, we were unlucky with a ricochet from a corner, and we fell asleep and conceded from a breakaway from our own corner. We're not playing brilliantly by any stretch of the imagination but you can clearly see, well I can anyway, the improvement in recent weeks as we have started to be able to play a more settled team. And that's about all we can expect to see right now, gradual improvement. If it continues, and that's largely contingent on injuries again due to us not having a proper squad where we can plug players of similar quality in when others get injured, then we will be a formidable outfit sooner rather than later in my opinion.

Alvaro Fernandez Carras. I'd rather have him play in his natural position for Man United than warm Benfica's bench while we make do with Lindelof at left back because we have 3 full back injuries and we probably couldn't afford to extend Reguilon's loan. I'd like for ten Hag to succeed so I worry that decisions like that one, and Amad not getting any game time as well asprevious mistakes like the planning for last summer both on and off the pitch, could cost him his job. Some of them are right at his door.

Although we have a glorious history of bringing young players into the first team in many ways it is a false narrative that we have created in our mythology that gives us an unrealistic expectation for our young academy players. Within every team's academies, there are one or two youngsters who will have the potential to play for their first teams, and all they need is the opportunity and the strength of character to grasp that opportunity. What happened with the class of 92 was an aberration (an alignment of circumstances) that will probably never happen again, ever! Of that group of players, only Paul Scholes and David Beckham were exceptionally talented and even they had serious question marks against them. Scholes (then a striker was thought to be too small) and Beckham was SLOW and lacked pace for a winger. Of the rest, (please remember that Giggs was older than the 92 group) the Neville brothers and Nicky Butt in normal circumstances would have only been squad players at best and would have been sold on to other clubs. The Golden Ticket that these players received was a manager who had an issue with some of his senior players (Paul Ince and Andre Kanchelskis) and he felt that he needed to ship them out before they poisoned the rest of the squad. Sir Alex had many qualities but his main attribute was courage and he had the balls to ship the "Bad apples" out of the club and replace them with a group of youngsters who he could mould into the players that he needed. The rest was history, but don't expect this history to repeat itself EtH is not Sir Alex and even if he were the PL is now far too competitive and the cost of failure is too great. Don't expect more than 2-3 academy players coming through at a time and whether they get their opportunity to prove themselves will be down to luck and being in the right place, right position at the right time.

The performances have been awful, two seasons in and we don’t know what football we’re getting. Ten Hag won’t survive long term I’m afraid, no matter how much he tries to tug on heart strings with academy player talk. Too much money wasted on crap and no identity.

Mainoo, like Garnacho, has seen more game time because he saw fit to buy Mount who was the wrong profile and has been injured all season, and Amrabat who he chased all summer but does not play him now.
