The thing about his hook is that he throws a classic Soviet-styled hook. He does not turn to shift his weight on the left foot and then turn right to throw the hook. Instead, he lets his left arm down and uses the momentum as power as he brings the left arm up to hook. The hook power comes from down to up not left to right. It is less powerful for sure, but it is much more natural and easier to connect with any combinations.

Casuals really underestimate him. That movement in and out of range so smoothly with a brilliant jab is not an easy thing to do and causes opponents lots of problems.

Not awkward at all, he has extremely well drilled fundamentals. It's just an Eastern European style of boxing.

Canelo will have to work in this fight. No waiting until opponent gets tired. He got set the rythrm and control the pace because Bivol style is not hit and run. Its walk down and throw bombs. This is what a pound for pound fighter must face to really show his greatness

Lol what Bivol is a jab oriented fighter. He is a technician not a brawler.

nah fam this aint boxing, bivol is just dancing, almost floating, moves like he has no mass. its like watching a cheetah run, a chimp climb, a shark swim. there is a certain fluidity into his ryhtm thats hard to put a finger on, and wave after wave he keeps coming, never losing that rhythm even for 12 rounds, and at the end looking like he could keep doing it for at least 5 more . truly hypnotic watching this guy.

it’s the range control that makes this so high level. He slips in and out of range flawlessly, throwing shots going forward and going backwards. Well done sir

You should watch his whole fight not just highlights to appreciate how technically gifted he is and how strong his chin is. This fight is gonna be amazing.

@@beardeddragon9114 I agree that Canelo is going to try and attack the body but if you watched Bivol's fights you can see that he has been able to avoid most body shots or has dealt with them. On his chin though he got clipped a couple of times but was able to shake it off. Hopefully he can do so against Canelo.

I love how quick he is getting back after he throws his jab. It’s textbook technique so it should be common, but it’s not because it’s not as easy as it looks. It takes lots of practice and mental and physical stamina. Hope he gives Canelo everything he can handle

It’s effective overall, he blocks almost every shot and what he doesn’t block he slips, canelo is levels above almost every fighter, the only fighter I see giving him trouble would be beterbiev or somebody at cruiserweight. Bivol is good but not on canelos level. He’s better then benevidez and charlo though. Those guys haven’t earned a fight w canelo

Could be the case but in most of Bivol fights I have seen. Especially his most recent one, his opponents are head hunters. They don’t really work the body. On the other hand we all know canelo works the body really well. We have seen that. Depends how Bivol is able to handle the body shots. Gonna be an amazing fight either way. Definitely not a short one.

@@MilkANDMagic yea he gets hit, but his opponents are head hunting, they aren’t working the body. An explosive power needs his ability to control his breathing. Canelo on the other hand if he works the body and starts to read him it won’t last all 12 rounds. He has to be consistently moving around, let’s see how good his endurance can last him. Even top fighters like triple g had trouble breathing his second fight. It can be argued for the first fight also

@@LordBoros-ci7xm hmm I’m not sure, if you have watched any of Bivol fights especially his most recent one he says rather fresh due to his opponents not going to the body at all. They are all head hunters. Canelo is a body punching machine, be very hard for Bivol to protect most of them, even for class fighters who had a similar style. Miguel cotto, definitely not the power puncher Bivol is but his phenomenal footwork and his amazing timing were always at peek. Canelo had trouble the first few rounds then picked up the timing. Plus we are talking about a prime canelo, this is definitely gonna be a good fight to watch. Not a short one at all, Bivol has to be ready to take punishment and see how long his endurance actually can last. May just turn into a bully and rosado type of fight. Very possible with explosive fighters

Bivols Lead hand is a problem, that unique movement is hard to pick up on. Bivol is stronger than plant and a better boxer too, people that compare to plant are silly. He can win easily if he can close distance early, if bivol is able to win early rounds it will become a nightmare,

Extremely talented, but inexperienced! Flaws show once you hear those thousands chanting, and Bivols opponent isn’t a push over either! Patience will be key to breaking the other guy down, and I believe Bivol will be broken down

Major credit to Canelo for taking this fight. This guy is young, strong and skilled. Unlike Canelo’s last opponents, Bivol can hurt Canelo, and I also don’t believe Canelo can knock Bivol out. It’s going to be a very interesting night. I’m pumped! I just pray there’s no redehydration clauses or anything like that.

They style you watching is the Soviet Boxing style , they bounce to measure the distance and they are very sensitive to the distance , every punch throw by turning their waist and body . The best style for long reach fighter

The way he throws his punches is different could be trouble for Canelo.

He is not slow, he is faster than canelo. Bivol mostly works on fluidity rather than speed. Bivol not a ryan garcia or pacman type of fighter in terms of speed and explosivness, but he is still quick on the eye.

Boxing is the most beautiful sport! The Soviet style/ pendulum is absolutely incredible! People don't realize how difficult it is to execute what he is making look like butter! That jab to hook going backwards is amazing!

I'm not that familiar with Bivol but one thing I can tell over the last few days of watching him, he's definitely for real. He's light years better than Plant or Saunders, he has the skills, conditioning and this time he's bringing power into the picture. His punches are hard and accurate and they have "snap" to them, and keep in mind he's going to be bigger than Canelo. Canelo of course is no slouch, he brings all that to the table also. Kudos to Canelo for picking a dangerous challenger. I feel the same about the GGG/Murato fight, Murato can punch, I've seen him fight before, he's no joke either. Both of these challengers are in shape and look ready to go, I'm excited about both of these fights!

He’s so awkward that’s what makes him so good he has power from any form . I just think canelo has the upper hand because his head movement , might trick Bivol to throw unnecessary punches and canelo counter those.

He lost to old GGG twice and Kovalev was shot. Chavez jr sucked and had already been thrashed by Martinez and others.

he seems to head hunt alot, he wont win based on decision and world politics. He needs to attack Canelo to the body. Canelo doesnt throw alot of punches, and he still has stamina issues. Slow him down, the tag him. If bivol plays it safe, he going to lose. He cant pull a kovalev. Act like the bigger man and out work canelo. IF he doesnt do this, he wont win. Maybe a long distance uppercut to buzz canelo then work him. His out boxing skill will trouble Canelo. He can definitely win this fight. Canelo had alot of fights last year, has to be draining.

Bivol will have to dictate the pace and use his reach to outbox Canelo. I don’t know if Bivol can safely throw too many body shots without reaching and leaving himself open for counters. Benavidez sparred Bivol and said he has a strong 1-2 but he was able to time him. He added Bivol is open to body shots. Canelo has been applying lots of pressure and walking down these big guys, so we’ll see. This is a really hard fight but I’m leaning to a Canelo decision.

I disagree I think Bivol has a really big chance to win by points, he manages his distance very well just popping that beautiful jab all fight long

I saw few solid shots there definitely be enough to get Canelo attention possibly stun him but I think Canelo to slick for bivol

That old Soviet Style is no Joke. Distance and range. That pendulum movement can be a very difficult puzzle to solve.

Not a canelo fan but i see him counter bivol all night, he’s a step or two to slow for him.

Bivol, genius though he is can't beat Canelo unless he knocks him clean out meaning the judges will only score it a Canelo win regardless of the disgusting state of using the judges. When I asked one of my step children who they thought won the fights with ggg, he said golovekin won both fights. I totally agree which means Bivol needs both a miracle and a KO to even score a round against old juicey beef Canelo. Shame but true.

This guy has been fighting at 175 amateur and professional , been fighting much bigger guys than Canelo . Pascal , Smith Jr and Barrera are big guys with a punch , Smith Jr knocked Bhop out of the ring . Sullivan Barrera licked Kovalev . Those guys are close to 200 lb walking weight .Let's see . 🤔

Interesting style on the pads. Not so apparent when he fights. Seems to be focusing with his two large knuckles. Looks almost novice when shadow boxing. Looks a class act when he fights. Will give Canello a good fight🥊

His one-two is something Canelo really have to look out
