The WBC's involvement isn't necessary for the two to fight and Bivol dismissed talks earlier in the year even prior to the WBC ruling despite the two being champs for 6 years. Meanwhile the WBC said Bivol hasn't even taken steps to apply for an exemption. For those keeping track, Bivol rejected the Canelo 175 rematch, pulled out of unification talks with Beterbiev and ignores Gvozdyk also calling him out just to be inactive.

Artur carries himself like a BOSS! And still manages to be a nice and respectful dude. A rare skill I love to see.

The main hurdle is the WBC political stance but even before that Bob Arum consistently dismissed this fight. With both fighters being on opposite promotional companies they have to met in between for this fight to happen.

Beterbiev is one of the hardest hitting fighters in boxing history. He is the only fighter I know that when sparring partners in his division were asked if they would want to fight Beterbiev they said no way I'm good he punches way too hard. I have never heard of boxers blatantly telling the media they wanted to avoid an opportunity to become champion like that.

Yeah, I always suspected Bivol and his team of trying to age out Beterbiev like Spence tried to do Crawford. And just like Crawford, Beterbiev has the Top Rank upbringing; though I do believe Bivol to be a more well-rounded champion at 175 (and def far better def) than Spence was/had at 147. I expect a more competitive bout for sure and hope Father Time doesn’t catch up to Beterbiev on fight night.

Love this energy from both fighters. Problem is one promotioner doesn't see interest in this fight (Beterbiev) and the other just keeps his fighter on a shelf too wait(Hearn). not really... Stevenson and Kovalev avoided him for years and when beterbiev was the IBF mandatory for Ward in 2017, Ward took his retirement and since 2017 Bivol avoid Beterbiev.... It's difficult to fight when nobody want to fight.

The promoters don't think that the fight will be exciting enough to make a lot of money, so that's one of the reasons why it hasn't been made. I think I read that unless someone like Saudi Arabia foots the bill, then the fight is difficult to make. It definitely needs to happen though, it's inexcusable to not have this unification match.

Both needed to appeal Bivol because he's a russian citizen and the WBC wants him to denounce his counties actions. Beterbiev because he had a WBC mandatory against Callum Smith. Neither appealed for this fight

⁠@@davidpark2509Bivol has actually been asking for this fight at least since 2020. Bob Arum is the one who keeps saying he won’t make that fight. Bivol even signed with Matchroom when Beterbiev was there, but Beterbiev left for Top Rank a little while later.

Bivol is one inch taller, but Beterbiev is way beefier. It’s not very easy for Beterbiev to make 175 while Bivol eats the day of the weigh ins. Bivol is basically a good sized super middleweight fighting at light heavyweight.
