I just like how Dante said "we would've failed 20 times if it weren't for Kat" when literally this game spans up to 20 missions and Kat's been helping them in all those missions
Vergil's idea wasn't really that bad, just worded a little poorly.
The atmosphere of this game is really cool, it's just not... Devil May Cry. It's something else, and might've succeeded as that something else.
My favorite part is where Dante says, "Sorry, brother" and Vergil states, "Don't be" with his back turned. It shows that Vergil wanted to prove his strength all along, but Dante never wanted to fight Vergil.
Fine, I'll accept this as an alternate reality to the original DMC. As much as I disliked Dante and Vergil here, I liked the gameplay and the art is refreshing
Honestly, I think this fight was way more tragic than the ones in the classic games. While Classic Dante and Vergil's rivalry was epic, we were essentially just supposed to take their word for it that they used to be a happy and loving family with Eva at one point. Here, we see the two of them genuinely begin to grow and bond with each other over the course the game. Right before this fight, they honestly saw each other as brothers, and we got to see their bond grow over the course of the game, which makes this fight and what happens in Vergil's Downfall all the more sad and tragic.
I feel like people wouldn't shit on this game so much if it had just been called something else. This game is good, just not as a DMC game.
Omg the OST, dialogue, and level designns... WHY WAS THIS GAME SO HATED?
The music score to this game WAS and still IS a hidden gem.
Honestly I kinda want a sequel to this game, I think it got a lot of hate with just the 'Devil may Cry' title alone, but the art work, combat and music was really good in my opinion. They also fixed a lot of flaws with it too with the definitive.
-Dante at the beginning:
2:19
8:32
"Might controls everything and without strength you cannot protect anything, let alone yourself." Ahhh the old Vergil was right about that.
Dante: Fights for freedom for mankind
"We are the sons of sparda, within each of us flows his blood, but more importantly, his soul !!"
Unpopular opinion: I actually really like this version of Vergil. I mean, he's not as badass as OG Vergil, but he's a good character. He's more cynical and is really good at manipulating people. Which actually makes him more of an asshole.
I always laughed when kat hides behind the trashcan and like holyyyyy shittt.... these two savages are actually gonna fight... she knew what was about to go down
Very interesting how similar this fight is to the final battle In DMC5. The enviroment, vergil's moves, and even the clone attack is lifted straight from this fight. Take that and mix it up with the elements from the DMC3 fight, and you have a great final boss for DMC5.
The build up to the fight was freaking awesome.
