DJI Power 1000 - taken apart and a look inside

This has to be the most well protected from the elements power station I've had apart. Everything is coated and secured with goop. Made disassembly a little tricky, but it means nothing is coming loose on its own.

What is the battery configuration? Battery size? I think it’s a 16S 32140 LFP Battery. Waiting for you reply.

Thank you! I was debating buying replacement SLA batteries for the UPS units (rack mount BEST Axxium 2 kva / 120vac units) I have powering my amateur radio gear, home theater room equipment and one for my basement server room and all CCTV, fire alarm and home security equipment. There are 3 UPS units that were each originally approx $3,500@. They are excellent devices with extremely fast transfer speed (from utility power to generated power from internal batteries). BUT… the replacement battery cost for each UPS is actually more expensive than an entire DJI Power 1000. ($1025 per unit w/shipping) The UPS units are 16 + years old with batteries last changed 5 years ago. I’m guessing it will soon be time to repair/replace the UPS units due to component failure, etc. AND… If I had changed the batteries, I’d STILL have lead acid battery technology and have to swap batteries every 2-4 years. I was a bit concerned over transfer speed of the DJI units, but it turned out to be “just good enough”. LOL I bought 4 of the Power 1000’s, replacing the old UPS’s AND a spare for travel and Mavic-3 charging on the road. Thank you!

Me too. But I know why they don't. If you just had say an XT plug to connect them there would be nothing to balance the cells with. Example would be if you had one battery at 100% and the other at 0% as soon as you plugged them together the batteries naturally want to be at the same voltage and you could have hundreds of amps going through the connectors. Would also be a problem for charging if your external battery didn't have it's own built in BMS.

Have you got any of the sdc adaptor cables you could poke with a multimeter? I’m wondering if they’re just using resistors on the secondary pins to trigger the different modes that they support, thanks for going to the effort so we can learn!

Interesting but I did not notice any fuses should something nasty go wrong... A bit poor it has no WiFi or BT and firmware update only via Windows or MAC program and USB-C cable.

unless you're constantly updating a battery bank, i prefer it without unnecessary wifi or bt modules

Def Wifi or bluetooth in that rig, I see the antenna on the white silicone covered board bottom right.

i'd guess that is a buttonpatch for those carbonized rubber buttons you usually have on tv ect. remotes. maybe something like an 'enable' surface for activation of the BMS prior to installing the batterypack and get it ready. so it does not drain the battery when in stock.

Having now read the manual there is no mention of bluetooth or wifi. Maybe it's something for programming in the factory.

Once you realize how many DJI competitors have ripped off and cloned everything they have created to make turn key dollars for themselves. You would keep your insides unmarked too.

Depends on the country/state. Some places have a right to repair. So long as you are competent, fixing one part shouldn't affect the warranty of the rest of the item.

But they can't do that with their drones for when they crash in water lol.

It's about the weight, and fyi - each drone is water coated with a fine spray coat, technically the drone will survive a fresh water crash, not sure about salt water.... Check some videos, where the drone is in water and is still keep filming. You can find them on youtube.

Well built and lots of protection from vibration and damp. But probably a nightmare to troubleshoot and repair.
