You’ve done it again Dave! Improving a vlogging set up for all the KZreadrs out there. Your skills are definitely benefitting not just your subscribers but thousands of other viewers. The wide view is good but width wise I prefer the standard for the colour, but as you say there is a software update next month I am interested to see a side by side comparison although I doubt it will be necessary as the extra pixels will be amazing. On our last leg of the trip in Boston before flying home on Monday night.😂 Be well, ride safe and keep us educated with the help of your brilliant family.

You're the only motovlogger I've seen to properly address gain levels, top job sir! My question is, as a lot of people (myself included) like to hear the engine noise as a sort of underlying/background track to the actual voice part of motovlogging, have you considered using the second transmitter and hiding somewhere on the bike out of the wind, allowing it to record a separate audio track of the engine note, which you can then control in the edit process?

Thanks for a great review of setting up the Osmo Action and a mic. I'm brand new to this Action Camera stuff - and the first thing I've run into is the wind noise when attempting to use the built-in mic. No surprise of course. I didn't even know it had a wind-reduction mode - but - it sounds like it doesn't really do the job anyway. My main concern with trying to use the wireless is the chunkiness of the receiver. It is small in terms of hooking to your shirt. It seems NOT small when trying to stuff into the helmet. I ended up not using a strap for the helmet mount - so I can't hook to that strap. We'll see. Thanks again for a great review!

Anyway, the footage at my end is crystal clear and the best I’ve ever had from any action cam. I’m absolutely delighted with this setup. 👍🎥

Just for input for other motovloggers searching for this, apart from using the wireless mics that have internal gain control, I don't currently see how to get good audio on the Osmo Action 3 for motovlogging. Even with the firmware update allowing you to set gain down to -12db, the signal is too hot for any of the many wired lavaliers I've tried. If I want to use this for motovlogging (because like many of you, I'm sick of GoPro) currently this setup seems to be the only option.

🤣🤣Sorry if my vids are costing you a few quid but seriously this one is an investment. I’ve been using the system non stop since I got it last week and it has actually put the joy back into motovlogging for me. No more anxiety wondering if the GoPro’s would actually work and then running out of battery even at 40%. This new system is flawless and just works!! I’m still experimenting with different frame rates and formats etc but it’s just brilliant. I also can’t wait for the 10min upgrade due soon. That particular mirror mount is the Insta360 one which comes in their motorcycle mount kit. It’s brilliant as a few of these cheaper ram mounts slip but the ball at either end of this mount is a sort of rubber coated which keeps the grip superbly. I hope you’re enjoying that new Suzuki, I love the look of them! 😜👍🏍🎥

@@WheelieGoodTV To be honest i was considering buying the new Insta 360 X3 and ordering it today. And looked at the wireless DJI mic, but was unsure about it until now. And like i have said before Dave i don't really value videos where the company have provided or sponsored the product, great for the spec and technical part, but the actual usage review, will usually and understandably be slightly bias. I actually had the DJI action 2 but sold it when i got the Go-Pro 10 and always thought i had possibly made a mistake. The compatability and control of the DJI mic (gains etc) really appeals to me after watching your video, makes life so much easier. I'll look out for the 360 motorcycle mount, because i have really struggled to find one that doesn't move on the mirrors. Thank you for taking the time to reply, really appreciated. For the best motor sound I usually put one wireless mic back in the "trunk" under the seat with the wind shield on. I have a strap around my medkit and it sits really tight, does not rattle and gets clean sound from the engine and exhaust. The only thing is too much water on the streets but it does not get too much water in there on the bottom. I havent really tried it but I am sure a small plastic bag would not distort the sound too much and keeps even the little water away. Nice workflow video. One question though.... Does the wireless mic power on itself when you poweron the camera, meanning that if I'm on the move, I press the shutter button on my action 3, will that be enough for the mic to start working, or do you have to manually power both (camera and receiver) or even so all three devices (cam, rx and tx) in order to get this working? I ask because I got this camera, I love it, but the external mic is such a hassle, I'm thinking of moving back to GoPro as least for my helmet cam. Thanks again, ride safe.

@@betweenframesproduction3968 I bought a handle bar clamp on Amazon, the type with a U clamp and a double ram type ball mount one of which has the 1/4 inch thread. Then screw the short 360 selfie stick onto it. Then using a Ulanzi mount for the Rode receiver place it like a washer on the top of the selfie stick before screwing on the 360 camera. The receiver is linked to the camera via the 360 mic adapter ( sold separately) and the bendy connecting wire supplied with the Rode Go 2. A lav mic in mine and my wife's helmets is then plugged into the Rode transmitters which we keep in our jacket pockets. Gain levels on the Rode transmitters need adjusting according to which lav mics you use. I hope this helps, audio for Moto Vlogging is a tough nut to crack, trial and error led me to this solution. You could also just plug a long leaded lav mic into the mic adapter direct into the camera but then your tied by lead and it would show in the footage. I hope this helps, any further questions please feel free to ask me, I'm always happy to help 👍😀 p.s. don't use open ended adjustable clamps they work free at speed and the 360 will flap about with wind speed. Only the U type with two locking nuts is secure enough.
