Hey Ian. Just to add some more info about the RTH. To give you some more info for context - When doing a manually triggered RTH in manual mode, if the stick is below 50% at the time of the trigger, then the drone will not reduce altitude. You can also move the stick down from here with no change in the drones' behaviour. Only if you push the stick up past the midpoint, do you gain altitude control again and can increase/decrease height. So it appears that there are already measures in place for this, but I think a similar system should be used for failsafe because it's possible to recover signal on the radio without video feed coming back (this happened to me, the connection is good enough to send radio commands but not enough for the video link) When this happens the drone just accepts whatever position the throttle is as an input without the same safety measures. This is problematic because with the goggles on and no feed you could have no idea that the drone is descending (if you lose signal again the drone still continues its descent) Sure you could just push the throttle all the way up after you loose signal, but you would have to know to do that. A lot of people would just freeze and trust the drone is heading back. This is why I believe there should be a similar measure put into the failsafe logic. That would prevent this from happening and save many drones. Automated return to home should be completely automated...it's in the name, you shouldn't have to think about doing extra steps, especially when something already exists in the same function when triggered manually. Anyway, that's all I've got for now. Just wanted to share more with you!

Thank you for your points on the "mushy" video still evident in Walksnail. I've stopped looking in on the Facebook group because of the flat out denial from the folk there. Tend to only fly Walksnail in wide open fields and DJI everywhere else.

Ian, I'm seeing other users and KZreadrs talking about their Avata 2's losing signal and flying forward and descending into the ground or trees! , like I reported last Sunday. Different from the RTH issue.

Gonna definitely try out BF 4.5 on my 7" with RTH and see if its better now using the M10 GPS 🤞🏻

The things you say about the power of the avata2 is true when you dont have the FCC power unlocked. After it have simply double the power.

I crashed mine, and the prop gurds / frame what eva got a dent after one crash. Hit a pine tree top and smashed off the parking lot, and now it's wobbling in flight even more than the stupid thing already. Did your absolutely right Mad Tech it wobbles alot in flight. And now after the crash i think It's going to continue to vaughan throughout the whole fight now. I've got a test flight again and see if it's still doing it.But it'll be pretty messed up if its worse noew after one crash.

Very annoying on the Caddx avatar, with branches coming out of nowhere. Lost a 5 inch quad in a river because of it.... I only fly over water with DJI from now on.

Re the HAM file, can I use a copy of the same ham_cfg_support file that I created for my Avata which worked then?

Have you measured the rf level output of the goggles 2? I get 350 mili watts per square meter and thats at my head. My wifi router only outputs 150 mw . Using the goggles 2 is like strapping 2 routers to your head.

Isn't the bluetooth in the goggle 3 one of the reasons for it to stream the feed wirelessly to your phone And the remote ID Registration To fly.

There are two Bluetooth chipsets in the Goggles 3. One is combined WiFi/bluetooth for the wireless video. The second is for the GFSK RC link.

Does OSD disappear in BF 4.5 for anyone else?

Think my Avata 2 is fu**ed after just one crash. Got a dent in the prop gurd inside, and now it's flying with vibrations. Have to test fky it again, but I think it's fu**ed, though.

No offense intended but have you even tried to adjust rhe setting with avatar? Yes on a fresh firmware update when everything is off and standard you do get smearing. But it takes literally 30 seconds to change the settings and vet rid if smearing. I haven't dealt with smearing since firmware 35. 3dn to mid and 2dnr mid. Cam sharpness to 4, cam set to race. Not rhe mode but cam. 720p high frame rate, high bitrate, 1200mw. And it looks perfect. Smearing has gone you just have to go in and change the settings. Surely you have done this before. But I wonder since you still complain about something that has been dealt with The problem isn't avatar it'd people not adjusting the settings of the cam and system to suit their environment

It’s not fixed if a user has to fuck with the settings and it’s never fully fixed regardless. It’s always there to different levels. It’s also not fixable on all cams either. It’s fundamentally a codec issue CaddX have failed to resolve.

Is there a reason these are not the defaults? I've never flown Walksnail, but it seems like if smearing is an issue but can be fixed with settings, then those would be the defaults. Note - I don't know what I don't know. Please help me learn about Walksnail avatar.

@MadRC call it fixed or not I'm just saying since FW 35 you can adjust the settings and get rid of smearing. Don't believe me, go try it. Why it's not the defaults I don't know. I also think it's dumb we have to change it every time we do an update. But with my TrueRC antennas on my goggles and quad. Adjusting the settings like I was saying. The smearing has been long since gone. I do a firmware update and everything is back off... smearing is back. I change the settings again and boom.. no more smearing. I have no dog in the fight I'm just stating facts. If People put less effort into complaining and more into trying to adjust a setting maybe they wouldn't have a topic to rant about for 30 minutes 🤷 Should we have to do that? No.. but how helpful would it be if a big influencer shared that information instead? I use both DJI and walksnail. Mine doesn't smearing. So I could care less what you call fixed or not. Smearing is gone for me and the other users that adjust those settings. The only time something remotely comes back to looking blocked and mushy is when you are losing signal. At that point every system does that
