    Uncool CADDXFPV uncool! These Googles can still be purchased from many of your own authorized vendors to this day. You have a moral obligation to maintain support for your customers. For atleast a reasonable amount of time. Not put every once of inventory you have into goggles to sell. Then telling your customers tough luck. How is this supposed to make us want to purchase goggles X? I was an early adopter of the Avatar HD system. And did intend to one day purchase the X when my first v1 goggles had been retired. But now I’ll rethink that decision.

    @@CADDXFPV You definitely should at least provide a warranty for products. I bought the Goggles X when they first came out and not even 3 months later the power cable went bad and all you offered me was a free shipping coupon. Not cool. Just should have replaced the cable. I ended up buying one from another retailer as I wasn't about to wait a month to get one directly from Caddx. I still use the Goggles X and I am an avid Walksnail user too. I think they work well but that one issue to me should have been resolved with giving me a free replacement. Through no fault of my own and only through normal use did that cable stop working.

    Fatshark recently offered to replace the burned LCD screens in my HD3's with some good ones from another set. So I was able to get a reply from their service department and an offer. You really should try to contact them. Only hitch would be sending them back and forth to Australia... So someone is there. Meanwhile my GogglesX were sent back to China, repaired for free, and sent back to me (although I am not home to try them yet) CaddX was very helpful and responsive about service for those goggles. But you have to ship to China and the whole process took a couple of months. Meanwhile (LOL) I have purchased a set of Dominator HD and love them. Very nice goggles and fit me much better than the GogglesX, also run cooler. Thank you for alerting us to the fact that these goggles are being sold, TODAY, that cannot be fixed! This is not looking good for the entire FPV community. We deserve better.

    Before recording the video, did you contact Caddx support? my experience with Caddx: I also had a Fatshark like that, which I mistakenly connected to a power bank and the board burned out. I contacted Caddx support, they sent me new glasses (their black model), I just had to send them my motherboard. In other words, even though it was my mistake, they covered it under warranty. I think you should first talk to Caddx support and bring their response in the video…

    When my fatsnail avatars broke I convinced caddx to sell me normal avatar parts because it took fatshark so long to answer I thought they werent going to answer. I was too lazy to fix the goggles and a month an a half later fatshark replaced the goggles for free so I never got to see if the caddx power board was going to work.

    Honestly as a Dominator HD owner, I'm not that heartbroken about it. I knew from the announcement day of Goggles X that the DomHD/AvatarHD goggles had a set number of days left, and I'm okay-(ish) with that. I've already gotten 2 years out of them, and they still work with the current hardware no questions asked. It is what it is, I'm just glad I'm not giving DJI money for an HD 1080p video system. Though Caddx is gonna have to up their game when HDZ actually gives HD in 1080p60fps at the minimum.

    Are they running the latest software? There's always a (very small) chance that the firmware has some form of corruption that is causing the issue. Don't always assume it's hardware.

    My avatar manual says not to power them up without antennas attached. Otherwise, you can burn out the output transistors.

    Yes that is correct and that’s why I tried to replace the transition one just in case. A short period won’t cause any issues though.

    Ever notice that few (if any) CADDX Avatar products have certified EMC compliance data, let alone compliance markings (CE, UKCA, RCM, etc) or even China SRRC for 2.4/5.7 GHz, nott even a product label or part sku on the case! So good luck with spares for any period of time let alone usual 10 years required in most countries 😂

    I assume off camera you tested the antenna cables. If user twisted them around then they could disconnect or short out.

    Spme companies won't sell spare parts if the product is no longer being manufactured and they still have possible warranty repairs. Once all warranties have expired they might offer the parts they have.

    Great punt to have a try Ian, every now and again these high risk projects will pay back in spades so dont feel bad. This route is the entrepreneurial way. There is no other 🙂

    I like the initial odor test! I bought a used set of these goggles on eBay and when I received them they were "soaked" in Febreze odor. Febreze makes me want to puke and gives me a headache. Digging around a bit I found that many people who sell do this to "freshen" up their sold items--as a feature--not thinking that the chemical is nasty for some folks. It took all winter of leaving the whole setup exposed to the elements in my garage to the air the smell out. Now it's pretty much gone. From now on I'll ask the seller before bidding if they treat their items this way. And if you're selling, please don't do this!

    Why did Caddx stop working with Fatshark? My Walksnail goggles are perfect, goggles X seems to have a lot of issues. And they fit my face perfectly. DJI v2 feels like a toilet seat, HDzero fits well but are so heavy. Skyzone sky04x is comfortvisen best. Iike the DJI goggles 3 allso. Let's see if a o4 air unit vill be released

    The sma connectors may have been loose because the original owner removed the washers. I know my walksnail versions sma were too short to tighten antennas all the way down, though it was close enough to remove just the washer and get them 100% locked down.

    The antenna connectors are fine. This was all checked properly.

    What was that board with Xilinx FPGA (Virtex)? Is it the main Avatar IC? I thought it was some Artosyn (don't know the name of company). PS: Maybe try to check LDOs powering PAs.

    Thats concerning. How can they already not support replacement parts? you are correct, people wine and moan about DJI but they have amazing customer service and repair facilitys. My stuff is always fixed and shipped back quick. I dont have time to worry about whos an evil company or not, i just want to fly and know my equipment will work till i drop it or fly into a wall 😂

    did you swap ufl cables? even though they look fine, they may be faulty at power... also dtd you use your thermal camera to see if any other area on the board is heating up at power?

    First thoughts after initial inspection/ test, was that unless the antenna sma ports are keyed......they've likely spun, and copper is a bugger for work hardening......so, i am leaning towards broken coax core/cores! 😊 this is at 15 minutes in......

    Yes they are keyed and I have checked the coaxes. That was one of the first things I did it’s just not shown in the video

    What about something dumb like those UFL-SMA pigtails? The holding nuts on them were loose, perhaps the previous owner gave them a twist or two and damaged the pigtails. Gosh wouldn’t that be a gut punch.

    Man... I think ya jinx me Mads... Lol, i just bought a set of new hdo3 or doms hd, what ever these are called, earlier this month, probably have a little past 10 hours if use on them, i watched this vid yesterday morning and then went to a memorial park in town to fly for memorial day, on my 8th pack of the day, suddenly i lost signal and crashed into a near by tree... Luckily I was able to turtle mode out of the tree, but now my goggles have lost all range and the bars start dropping at about 30 feet away and totally loose signal by 100feet, I had two drones with me and both were doing the same thing, I even checked with a couple other drones when I got home, i opened them and everything looks fine... Talk about timing, lol, must be an issue with the last batch of these... I emailed Rotor Riot last night told them the story, they already sent me a return Label, no questions asked, i mentioned i was concerned about the latest batch and I'd rather upgrade to the X and they said that's fine and will issue me the store credit...

    Goggles are 1/2 of the video system. If the goggles aren't going to be supported there's no reason to consider the other half.

    Sad to see cause it is a no go for me cause it is unstustainable. And stupid move to be unable to have enough spareboards in their warehouse. Time to rip it apart and sell the parts cause it is not worth to wait for a spare part which would maybe never arrive. Spectator goggle looks also a good solution and at least cheaper than everything else I guess.

    Well that's totally shit of caddx did you ask them if you send them in for repair they might be able to do a board repair or have some spares just for there own repair department. The least they can do is provide a schematic so an experienced board repairer could figure out what's going on. Tbh we do slag off dji but ultimately, they look after their customers and really know their products inside and out. So the recommendation for noobs is DJI integra or Hdzero Goggles. Otherwise, risk being fucked about by caddx.

    How do you know this isn’t the case with other goggles? Try calling other manufacturers and ask about old goggle pcbs. Even laptops only have major specialized parts for maybe 5 years. Our stuff is so specialized and cheap.

    It's pretty much sad for these FPV pilots who have these goggles 🥽. That's why I don't buy caddax goggle or something like that from them cuz you see what happened and these people who have goggles, they wasted their money for these goggles. I have DJI FPV V2 and it's still champ 🏆 in my opinion, I don't have morning no issues nothing, I still love mine and I'm not gonna buy these goggles. I will keep in with my DJI supplies, I'm sorry to these FPV pilots who are frustrating about this issue, it's sad
