I bought an air 2s and i sold it within 90days, i just didn’t use it, i was just getting into drones and really rushed the decision. I use it more for fun rather than work and only used it like twice. I really wanna mini for traditional photo/video, and an FPV for the some next level content. This year will be interesting

At last, amongst all the Vlogs on the subject of the Mini 3 that are just woffle, speculation, regurgitation of unsubstantiated rumours and "leaks", that perpetuate untruths and just help to feed the false anticipation for "the product"; here comes a video that offers a well reasoned and thought provoking supposition that one should not have the latest and greatest tech! Well done you for avoiding the tedious and un-helpful trap that every other vlogger on this subject has fallen into!

@@GetBusyLiving No, credit where its due! I am sick of all these videos purporting to be from those who have vital information to impart only to find blow hards spewing the same crap as every other blow hard! One question though, once the Mini 3 has been released, do you think there will be any Mini 2's available after the launch of the 3? I think once the (inevitably) high price of the Mini 3 is confirmed, there is going to be a massive rush to buy remaining stock of 2's before its gone! Thoughts? Follow up video idea? Mark

Tracking and obstacle avoidance don’t mean much to me. A ‘way better camera with both higher and lower frame rates, higher resolution (4.75K?), .75” to 1” sensor and way better low light performance are what is important to me.

Your review was spot on - all the logic and thinking were what I had on my mind as well. I do own the Mavic 3 Cine which I use professionally and satisfies my urge for new and all of the features I could ever want. I will most likely be getting the mini 2 as I will use it as my grab and go drone and just have fun.

Spot on about the pressures. I had P3 Pro for 3 months before ditching it for Mavic Pro because of the size. Then Mavic sat for 2 years with little use and sold. Skipped Mini because of wind level resistance 4 and got Mini 2 as soon as it was released. I must say I love Mini 2 as it is so compact and I can carry around easily and less eye catching. Its so small, when people see it as toy rather than serious drone. I flew more with Mini 2 in my 1 year of ownership than 2.5 years of owing Mavic, that tells a lot how much I enjoy it. I would love to see Mini 3 for better wind resistance, better camera. Mini 2 flight time is sufficient as there is no need to upgrade for longer flight, after all combo will give us 3 flights with 3 batteries. Tracking would be great but there is hack or manual tracking, I have never have to rely on avoidance sensor - touch wood! Another point about pressure, Mini is so light weight many has reported Mini 2 survived many crashes :-) unlike the Mavics or bigger drones.

Love my Mini 2 and very few things I would change. Low light camera would be a great addition and tracking. Tracking could most likely be done with software upgrade - at least it seems so. The price of the Mini 2 is wonderful, for if you do lose or crash it isn’t such a huge hit on your wallet. I would be hesitant to upgrade to a Mini 3 without knowing all the details.

Just give me a mini with a great low light camera/gimbal with no jello, plenty of power in the motors, 30 minutes flight time, and I'll be a happy camper. I don't need OA or active track. You were clearly speaking directly to people like me in this video... as I had been agonizing over all of these points for several weeks when trying to decide which drone to buy for my first (non-toy) drone - at age 57 by the way. I had fully decided to get the Mini 2 - and then I read/saw the rumors about the Mini 3's release being imminent and started waffling about what to do. I ultimately ended up going ahead and pulling the trigger on the Mini 2 - and here are the reasons why: 1) Instant gratification: Once I made the decision to buy a drone, I wanted it NOW! (LOL - as we do) As DJI has yet to make any formal announcement about the Mini 3, nobody can say for sure when it will be announced - or how soon you'll actually be able to get your hands on one after it's announced. Will it really be April - or later in the year? Next year? Nobody knows. I didn't want to put the purchase off and miss out on AT LEAST two months of potential flying time - only to possibly find out in April that the Mini 3 wouldn't actually be available until the fall or something like that. 2) Cost: I didn't want to pay any more than what the Mini 2 Fly More kit costs. In fact, that was already a little more than I wanted to spend, but it seemed to be the best "bang-for-the-buck" value, so I decided to stretch a little to it. With the Mini 3's rumored enhancements, it will certainly cost more than the Mini 2 - possibly significantly more (as the Autel already does). I could see DJI undercutting the price of the Autel Nano by a little just to maintain its sales edge, but not by much at all. Fiinally, lets say the price of the Mini 3 is close to the Autel Nano - roughly $1,000 US. If I'm spending that much, I'll spend just a little more and step up to the Air 2S. Yes, that one is over the 250g weight limit, but that's no big deal either. It would also be more stable in higher winds. 3) Capabilities: The main enhancements expected in the Mini 3 are a better camera and more obstacle avoidance sensors - possibly enough to allow it to safely have a "follow me" function. Literally NONE of those are really important to me at the moment as a beginner. Sure, they'd be great to have, but at what cost? The Mini 2 is already capable of taking FANTASTIC photos and videos in most lighting conditions and you can easily do just fine without the extra sensors with just a little extra caution... and I don't want/need it to be able to "follow me". Finally, just for the sake of argument, let's say the absolute best case for the Mini 3 happens: It is announced and is actually available to purchase as early as April, it has ALL (or more) of the rumored enhancements AND the price is really close to the Mini 2's. I decide that I just can't live without it. I could sell my Mini 2 at a slight loss and buy a Mini 3. Yes, I'd lose a couple hundred dollars in the process, but that would be a small price to pay for having been flying/learning for two months instead of sitting around waiting for the Mini 3. As I said, the Mini 2 is my first drone... I could decide that it's not for me at all and sell it & get back out of the hobby anyway (not likely, LOL). So far - after a whopping TWO flights - I'm really happy with my purchase and I'm glad I didn't wait for the Mini 3.

Hello Mike, like you I had the Autel nano plus ordered before Christmas last year, waited and waited for it, then canceled and glad I did. Bought the Mini 2 instead and paid less with also getting the Fly more combo. I wish it had a better camera on it is all I would need, other than that I am satisfied. The Mini 3 doesn't justify it for me. The KZread craze is people that seem to have unlimited money buying the latest a greatest and getting subscribers by being the first to review it thus it pays for their drone channel, I've pulled back from being lulled into that false narrative. Thanks for being straight up, the Mini 3 craze is just getting rolling.

So I currently own the original Mini 1. I was just about to pull the trigger on the mini 2 but I'm probably going to wait to see what comes out with a possible 3 and what specs actually are going to come with it. The air2s was also on my radar but I just can't pull the trigger because of price right now. I live in Colorado and where I fly right now I have to deal with a lot of high winds. Now the original Mini does okay but I would definitely like to have the stronger motors of the air2s for sure. I've seen lots of reviews on the mini 2 in Colorado especially up in higher elevations where the winds are super crazy and it handles it like a champ. So I will patiently wait to see what happens with a possible three and go from there. I don't own a drone yet. Been doing a lot of soul searching on what to get. I am aware of geofencing and I live right on the edge of a no fly zone, me being just out side the zone. I want to be able to fly in my own yard a few feet above my house just to get stick time in without having to load up and travel to a no fly zone. I know my property is along a down leg flight landing pattern for major airport. I will only be doing hobby stuff with the drone. So not to picky about camera stuff. So waiting for Mini 3 to come out and see what it has to offer.....But Autel will probably be my best bet so far because of geofencing. I don't know for sure if I'm really outside the no fly zone. The other thing to consider is how much you're going to have to splash out extra on things such as ND filters, that you've already got for the mini 2, I mean I've several sets of ND Filters, a fast mains charger that charges all 4 of my batteries at the same time, an in car charger by the same company that will charge 2 batteries, and you can bet your bottom dollar that none of it will be compatible with mini3

I agree completely, it would be like buying a lottery ticket for a supercar, I might use it, but then I'd have to insure it, find a secure garage and so on. What is the advantage of having images above 1080p, other than for electronic zoom? The files are too big for quick transfers and edits, and I'd have to get a better laptop, mobile and data storage. That's a load of extra cost, but beyond 1080p the increase in image quality makes no perceptible difference. My Mavic Mini still serves me well, and if I did get a Mini 3, I'd keep the Mini in reserve or use it where the drone might be at risk of loss, for example low over water. The features that I would need over the Mini 2 are lower light capability, nav lights and obstacle avoidance. Only those could nudge me.

How well does the camera do in low light conditions? I live out in the country and would love to night fly and be able to see and video under the light of a full moon. That may be asking too much of a drone at that price point, but figured only way to know is ask someone who has one.

If it will offer ActiveTrack, Spotlight and improved Camera, I‘ll buy it! Even when it’s as expensive as the Nano+…. I‘d like to do more tracking while Skitouring or Mountainbiking. I could do this with my Air2S - but this thing is just to big and heavy to carry arround. My Mini 2 fits easily in my backpack, but does not offer these tracking features… so easy decision for me!

I still love it though and it flies beautiful the obstacle senses even when you turn them off still work they warn you the beeps don’t ever turn off so that’s a good feature I suppose. But because my mini two is half or 2/3 of the price I have bigger gonads and send it out further LOL it’s funny what money does to your mind.

There is going to be so many comparisons with the mini 3 and air 2S if the mini 3 can have similar low light performance with aperture that bring in more light, just like the nano + did. I think it will come down to high speed and performance against the wind (air 2S) vs 250g lighter backpack, and less regulation (250g) But at the end of the day if you don’t fly much you might feel guilty with an air 2S. Vs if you had a cheaper drone, but if you had a cheaper drone you would be FOMO fear of missing out. I guess you just need to learn to appreciate what you have and stop chasing specs like the KZread algorithm will sink you into.

Well this is my opinion. The nano plus as you know Mike I have have told you and if you’ve watche your other pals which review drones I sure you have. On other channels don’t have too much positive things to say about the nano plus except for that Captain drone who I’m sure gets paid a shitload of money to say things to sell products. I have even taken him off my list of channels. Back to the discussion the mini two is an awesome drone entry-level perfect thing to learn on and if it does what you need it to do, just to stick up in the air every now and again and get a couple of good pictures aerially or video, perfect no need for an upgrade. But if you want the extra features that the Nana was offering I jumped into it hook line and sinker and was so disappointed. I just don’t think they can fit the technology in a drone 250 g or so less I could be very wrong but I think it’s a way off. the nano plus needs a complete redesign. It almost feels like they’ve put it out into the market so the consumer can bats test it for them. People I should write this in bold DO NOT BUY THE NANO PLUS unless you want to spend two days trying to get it right then when you get it up in the air find out that you may not get it back because the wind resistance is terrible, it hovers all over the place (and yes I calibrated everything 1000 times) bottom senses at the moment don’t work so it literally crash lands and if you get to 15% battery it won’t let you find somewhere to land it will just fall out of the sky like you did for me I am so lucky I was over thickish grass and only a metre or a half in the air. I would have definitely broken it. Mini three I would not buy for at least six months after release date so all the bugs will be ironed out because I’ve heard every drone comes out and it’s not completely finished yes even DJI. If you are a complete beginner the mini two is your drone. I have now been flying drones for only 12 months but as I have a long time on my hands because of it injury and infection to my spine this is my only hobby apart from watching TV because I cannot do anything else. I wanted a drone with obstacle avoidance and active track well active track mainly but one goes with the other I suppose. Mike knows why I wanted these features. So I upgraded to the DJI air 2S and it is exactly the same in characteristics flight wise and trustworthy wise as the mini two it’s just got a shitload more features which I love and a little bit quicker I love it and I’m only just starting to learn about all its features I’m not even halfway through it but I’ve only owned it for a week and have loved every second of flight time I’ve had with it camera is awesome the way it handles is awesome and I can trust it always to come back to me I can trust it when it’s following me that it’s not going to crash into anything as long as it’s facing forwards or backwards no side senses but I wasn’t going to spend another thousand to $2000 on side senses on a upgraded model DJI Air 2s was just that little bit out of my budget and I stretched myself to get it but I’m glad I did. As to my opinion about a mini three I wish it was around because yes I would’ve bought that before The bigger Air 2s. I hope you guys all understood that that’s just my opinion though. Thanks mate I really need to get that off my chest about the nano. I should have my money back any day we got returned Monday in the post so the seller should be getting it back in the day and I can’t wait to get my $1400 Australian back that’s going straight off paying for my air 2s. Lol once again thanks Mike for the discussion.

Who wouldn't want an improved version, of an already proven, and remarkable Drone, such as the Mini 2? It seems like it's a video, asking a question, that practically everyone, knows the answer to. Why not make a video about more relevant issues, instead of trying to scrape up views.
