I have discovered a new way to overcome some of the challenges I have in making videos in my current situation - a video on a game changing tool coming in a few weeks time. Fab to see a drone video again Mike. I have the Mini 2 and the Mini 2SE and thought of getting the 3pro. Then decided why spend more money and just add to my drone collection. I use my drones purely as a hobby and i film places of interest and beauty around Ireland. To me, both these drones do a fabulous job and friends are impressed with my videos. Works for me and in ending thank you for this video and information. 👍😊

Nice to see you doing videos again Mike, those pictures look amazing. Anywho, another thing to consider when choosing a new drone... how new is it? The second iterations are the ones to go for, e.g. Mini 2 bug improvement on Mini, Mini 4Pro big improvement on Mini 3Pro. I bought a Mini 3 Pro shortly after release and was hugely disappointed, many of the advanced features I bought it for simply didn't work at all and after various firmware upgrades still didn't work reliably. Hopefully they're all fixed in the Mini 4. For still photos a used Air 2S is a great option if weight related flight restrictions aren't an issue where you plan to use it. For video editing on the go, iPad + Lumafusion is hard to beat. (make sure its a USB-C model with fast transfer speed)

While you're pretty much right about the limited camera differences between the Mini 3 Pro and 4 Pro, the other factors that you weren't covering are pretty major. Full obstacle avoidance. Cruising Mode. Onboard waypoints. Precision landing, etc. These pretty much push the 4 Pro into being sub 250g version of the bigger drones. That's a pretty big deal.

Glad to see you making more videos Mike. I bought the Mini 4 Pro on launch because there were too many things with the Mini 3 Pro that really narked me, all of which the Mini 4 Pro resolves. These were that the DJI RC is annoyingly laggy, causing me to double press the screen as was never sure if the screen took the command, the strange signal issues I and many others suffered with the Mini 3 Pro causing disconnections and ruining any footage, even at 200-300m in CE mode, and too many restrictions around 4k60. I see the Mini 4 Pro as the drone that was promised when the Mini 3 Pro was launched. I loved my Mini 1 due to it being portable and "good enough" at the time, I loved my Mini 2 due to its massive capabilities over the Mini 1. I was disappointed with the Mini 3 Pro from the 1st flight, due to reasons mentioned above. I love the Mini 4 Pro, as its technically, albeit with a better set of intelligent features, its the same as the Mini 3 Pro, but works mostly as promised, just like the Mini 2 did.

@@GetBusyLiving Probably only worthwhile if those issues I had with the Mini 3 impact you. The CE signal strength is specific to Europe I guess, and if the RC is too laggy, you can always fall back to the trusty RC-N1 with a mobile phone. For me, it was an easy decision to upgrade, but for others, need to think long and hard, especially as there is really little difference in video or photo quality.

Great video and insights …. I started with a mini 1 … loved it and then upgraded to the mini. 3 pro… in my use case needed the tracking and follow features. Recently purchased a like new Mini 2 as a second drone … where those tracking features are not needed. Super happy and not feeling I need the latest, greatest and more expensive option… for once in my miserable GAS filled life !

I love my M2... (Mini 2) ha ha Not flying as much as I should as I am currently being tempted by the thought of buying the upcoming Xiaomi 14 Ultra mobile phone, simply because of the Leica camera. My areal photography interests are at the moment firmly grounded.

Fair enough! There certainly are plenty of tempting choices out there!

I gonna buy a mavic 3 just beccause they have good zoom. If the mini 3 pr would have ha a high quality 1-4x zoom, i absolutley would have kept it. The 2x zoom in 4k on the mini 3 pro cant be used to make quality videos at all.
