Super helpful, thanks! It's amazing how few videos there are just on this basic setup, most are 15 minutes long with tons of fluff. Since I bought the media mod thinking it would actually be useful (which it hasn't been) and the money is already spent, this looks like the best way to go.

Thanks for the video. You can get a cold shoe extender to mount on the top if you want the receiver there. This then gives access to the record button.

Thanks for the details. So it can be used on the Gopro 9, but you have to connect the DJI to the Gopro main unit with a wire to use it, right?

You have stated you left the Xmitter & Receiver Gains on standard. What Is Standard for the Gains?

hey, before I go crazy and purchase a new mic. I see that version has to emitters. hero 10 supports the usage of both mics on it?

What about the settings? How much transmitter gain and what input type for the mic on the GoPro? Do I use standard or Power, non plus or plus?

Do you set in gopro as standard mic or powered mic?

Are you able to confirm if the mic jack (for audio monitoring with headphones) works with this device?

This item has seen so many delays its unreal! Will get a link up once I find a reliable source - for now, best bet is DJI direct!

Surprised at how good and useful this video is. I just might try this out on my motorcycle riding videos hoping that the DJI receiver does not fly off at higher speeds!

When you export the GoPro video to pc do you need to do any specific editing wirh the audio or is it simply exported together like as it would be if just using the gopro internal mics? The audio is baked into the video, so it will result in a clip thats just like recording using the camera itself ;o)

Good video and I recently ordered all of those components. My issue is I can't find any videos showing the external mic settings to use on the Hero 10 when using this setup.

dumb question but is the audio file separate from the video file? like does the audio from the mic go into the same video file as the camera? I can't edit my videos because my computer sucks. i just raw dog upload.

hi, I'm hoping you can help with a question. If you connect an external mic to a receiver via the 3.5mm jack, will the receiver record from both internal mic and external mic via jack simultaneously?

No, once you connect an external mic than its external only.

No editing to audio at all - everything left on auto (default gain etc)

Afraid not - with the GoPro you must have the media mod or the GoPro audio adapter in between I'm afraid - it's how they make more money out of you!

Do you know if there's any sort of adaptor or anything so the transmitter faces the other way, I'd like to see it as I have my GoPro on my chin mount

Sadly, you didn't tell us your transmitter/receiver audio level settings and which setting you used with the Media Mod input.

No, once you have the media mod you are good to go - the mic will come with the required cable to attach to the media mod ;o)

tbh i wish theyd make a "media mod" without the mic, reduce weight, keep it slim and cheaper. Would be amazing but its all a money grab. Nice video!

You have to use the Media Mod or the Audio Adapter for any microphone with the GoPro I'm afraid.

Does the cold shoe mount come with the media mod?

The media mod comes with the cold shoe mount moulded on. The DJI Mic comes with the cold shoe adapter that slides in.

No when you connect an external mic the internal mics are disabled.

No just plug it in and off you go! You can test and experiment with gain settings if you wish, but otherwise it's plug and play ;o)

you can insert the DJI mic into hot shoe in both directions, it is well documented.

I think if you actually put the DJI Mike receiver on the top of the GoPro and you can't press the button you could probably just get an extra accessory the wireless remote you know what I mean.

Honestly depends, put go pro on extended battery and run 4k 60. Mostly for vlogging but 5.3k on high is surely bound to get hot

Can you help me please? I just got the dji mic + GoPro 10, I’ve done everything the same as you but when I hit record the microphone still doesn’t work and audio is not synced like yours, the audio is still using the GoPro mic and not dji mic… pls help!

Your mic is definitely connected and working OK? If so, could be an issue with your media mod - try a different mic and see if that works?

Has anyone here tried their GoPro 9-12 with a Hollyland Lark M2? Is it similar? Reason I ask is because the Lark M2 is about $130 cheaper

Ok so if I buy the dji…I don’t need the media mod? I just have to “clap” to sync up the audio in post? Do I even need the receiver?

The Ulanzi cage does not interface with the GoPro, hence you will need to use the GoPro Audio Adapter too......

I'm trying to use it for a helmet setup with without buying something expensive for something simple.. just hate the gopro mics with the wind noise and the excessive attachments in order to make a microphone connect.

The media mod is horrible. Pain to get on and off. I love the DJi mics so much I am seriously considering dumping GoPro as my main camera and going to the DJI osmo 4

I have the 10 and its amazing. Not a huge upgrade from the 9 but I love it

Try DJI motion camera. You'll never reference GoPro again. I've owned 4 GP's and am throwing them away they are so skittish.

@@iftibashir - another good choice, though I think there is a smidge more addons for DJI. Between the three, most comparisons give the nod to DJI. But, anything is better than GoPro.

the gopro will die in 5 minutes or less if you shoot 5k or 4k 120fps
