Hi TTL, thanks so much again for comparing the DJI Mic to our audio devices. Very useful information. Can I ask you a few questions? Are you using the Pro (24-bit) or the Pro Plus (32-bit) version? Does the DJI Mic 2 connect to the GoPro12? Is the DJI Mic 2 waterproof? Our community of Insta360 users really enjoy using Instamic in the water since the camera is waterproofed too. Happy New Year! Hi Michele - I am using the original Pro version (24-bit). I assume the Pro Plus is similar when it comes to signal stability and obstructions...or does it perform better in that regard? I do not have a GP12 so cannot comment on that. Regarding waterproof, I don't think the DJI is waterproof, but as it's not yet fully released, I have no specs to confirm. Great comparison. Do you know if there is a wind sheild for either of the mics. I would like to use it on an electric scoter and i am concerned about wind noise.

The DJI comes with a furry wind shield. There is a wind shield available for the Instamic but it costs extra.

I wouldn't trust a Bluetooth connection for sound tho. It has very limited range of 30ft or so. At this point I'll still stick to the clunky setup with the DJI mic receiver attached to the X3. I have the DJI mic 1 tho. Will the DJI mic 2 still work the same using the same pt21 adaptor for the rode wireless go 2 and the DJI mic 1?

I actually just got my full DJI kit and had a chance to check it out. I haven’t tested with the X3 yet, but the receiver now has a fixed cold shoe and I fear it might be visible in the shot. Will let you know.

Have you had any issues with audio artifacts when using the DJI 2 Mic with your x3? I've tried updating the firmware on the microphone and turning external mic gain to the lowest setting on my x3 and I can't get the artifacts to go away. I am not able to reproduce the artifacts when recording to the mic directly or using it with an iphone over bluetooth.

No, I have not noticed any artifacts. Are you using the receiver or just by bluetooth? Bluetooth is pretty sensitive to obstructions - even your hand for example.

I could use your help with a configuration. I purchased the Dji mic2 transmitter, based on your video. What I’m wondering is if the Dji mic 2 can be paired to two device simultaneously? I have a high end com system on a motorcycle helmet that’s multi versatile with pairing to near a dozen other coms simultaneously, from different manufactures, two phones and a gps system all together. Yet my X3 won’t find its 5.2 bluetooth. So the idea I had was to pair the com with the Dji (which worked) and then pair the X3 with the Dji (which worked) But seems I’m not getting output from the com’s mic to the Dji. I didn’t buy it for this purpose but I figured I’d try. Am I on a fruitless mission?

I cannot say for sure, but I don’t think you will be able to pair to 2 devices simultaneously. Maybe an option would be just use the on-board recording on the DJI Mic 2 in addition to your coms system, then sync them up in post?

Thanx for the suggestion. The com manufacture Cardo has this option for recording from the headset to a phone. I didn’t buy the mic 2 for this purpose. But I figured it’d worth a try.

There are a couple of cheaper Bluetooth microphones on Amazon ($50-$75), and wondering if those would work with X3?

Should work, but I would go for the DJI at $99 before going for something "cheap" for $75.

I don't have one to test, but all online info suggests that you cannot connect a BT microphone.

When connected via Bluetooth, does Mic 2 still have: 1) internal recording? 2) noise cancelling?

Unfortunately I no longer have my X2, but I did use the Instamic with my X2, so I assume the results with the DJI would be similar.

Thanks, as always, for the great video. When using the DJI MIC 2 via Bluetooth to the insta360 x3, can you still do internal 32bit float recording to the mic? Obviously that’s a crucial feature that hopefully can be done now. Or in 2024 with an Insta360 x4. Thanks for words of wisdom. Inquiring BEER 🍺 VLOGGERS need to know. Good question, but unfortunately the answer is no - when connected by BT, the on-board recording is not available.

I know - I keep saying, bluetooth is definitely a weak area for Insta360
