    Totally... in theory lol! Less steps and a shorter audio chain (i.e. eliminating the need for receivers or adapters) streamlines the process so long as the cameras menu system remains intuitive to set up initially! But hopefully, once paired with the camera, all mic and audio settings should be saved meaning a super user friendly experience!

    Just ordered mine. Super excited for this for simplifying recording my motorcycle videos. Up until now I have just been manually sync'ing up the audio from a Zoom H1 in my tail bag in Resolve. It is not uncommon though for something to go wrong in that process which ruins the recording.

    @@WayneRECsI actually wasn't impressed by the first DJI mic. The lavalier compatibility was trash. They at least added environmental noise cancelling, the first version picked up background sound like crazy. 32bit float is a nice addition but we still have the same blah 6 hour battery life. Without the use of internal recording I wonder if they improved the lousy self noise levels. I reviewed the original DJI mic on my studio channel. I hated it so much for the price paid that I returned it.

    The stage mic in the picture looks like it has a square handle... so you may be able to connect the new DJI Mic to it and use it handheld. That might be cool. I've already seen people selling 3D-printed handles that Rode and DJI mics clip into to use them as a handheld mic... so there might be a market for this.

    I think I'll wait to hear what others think first before deciding. I already have the Rode Wireless GO II that I paid £250 for, so is it really worth paying another £200 for the dji mic II for 32 bit float if I have a back-up saved on the Go II at a lower volume? I watch the north west England regional news from the BBC and they're happy enough to give the Go IIs to their roving reporters, so if they're happy with the quality, shouldn't I? Will a 32 bit float mic cut out the plane in your background or pick it up more clearly? If I do decide to buy I'd use the mic II with the action 4 and attach the Go II to my insta360 X3 possibly? I'm stoked for you that you're gonna get the chance to buy one so soon, you look thrilled at the prospect. Cheers Wayne RECs.

  • @WayneRECs

    @WayneRECs

    It's hard to say how the DJI Mic 2 will perform with regards to ambient sounds like planes and the like. Generally, 32-bit float does not equate to better audio quality. That's really dependent on the mics used and the AD converters. However, built-in noise cancellation features can vary from manufacturer to manufacturer, so depending on how it's implemented, the DJI Mic 2 could do better in noisy environments. But with regards to dynamic range, 24-bit with a -db safety track is just as effective as 32-bit float in most situations.

    I have the one that comes with the pocket 3 combo. But I don’t believe they will be offering the option to buy a single transmitter which is going to disappoint quite a few peeps, including me! 😂 Can use 2 mics with the OZMO pocket 3. A quote I found: “The DJI Mic 2 is available for purchase in two configurations. The first option includes one transmitter (TX) and one receiver (RX). The second option, more comprehensive, comes with two transmitters, one receiver, and a charging case. This additional option offers an extra transmitter for more extensive usage scenarios and includes the convenience of a charging case for easy storage and charging of the devices. These configurations are designed to cater to different audio recording needs, whether for single or multi-person use”

    I hear ya lol! I think with any wireless system these days there are pros and cons. With the DJI Mic 2, one of the biggest pros is it's ability to transmit to their cameras directly. @@AJCoReTVhave you changed or experimented with the transmitter or receiver gain settings? I use mine mainly for wedding work (the officiant and the groom and then for toasts at the reception). I’ve been happy boosting the receiver gain to +5 and the transmitter gains to +3. Though I’m recording the wedding ceremony on the mics themselves, I also run out of the line out of the receiver to my speakers for the guests seated farther back. There are lots of resources on KZread for learning to process the audio with Audacity (free). I get great results with that. Pro tip: when recording, get a few seconds of blank recording. Audacity can use that part of the recording to make a noise reducing profile to pull some background noise from what you intended to record. It can be intimidating, but just get in there with some KZread help and play around. Save a copy of your recording in a safe place and then work on another copy. Then you have nothing to lose.
