I just read that the GoPro5 has a "new linear view setting for both cameras too which gives you wide angle video and photos without the heavy distortion usually associated with extreme wide angle lenses." better value if you need a stable shot on the ground but if you want better air shots,control,speed,distance,choice of controls and so small you don't need two backpack one for the Drone the other for food water phone and all the other stuff you carry in a back pack on a hike. well the gopro would be a choice... but the camera and size is the nail in the coffin for me DJI knows how to build drone's and know what the market wants. they delivered. gopro is great at what they do but they don't do drone's like the DJI crew well done to both companies from the bay area.

This was a well executed product launch across multiple platforms. The new DJI Mavic is positioned to capture a new audience that was hesitant to take the leap. Like most CE today, this whole category comes down to the user experience.

Beautiful design, looking forward to check it out

Looks very impressive, hands down better than the Karma. Just got the Phantom 4 for following our yacht sailing around the world - plenty of space of the yacht to store the 4, but the Mavic looks perfect for all other applications!

The best over all drone in my opinion. Small, portable and great quality with tones of features 🖒 i love my mavic

Interesting how this will all pan out between the Mavic and Karma. I think this will all come down to what you want to use it for. Personally I love the fisheye look of the GoPro cameras (for what I shoot) and getting the handheld stabilizer is HUGE. Having a camera I can take off and use for other things is HUGE. Being able to fly without using my phone is HUGE. All of those points above are for what I plan to use it for. But for a personal, small form factor, go anywhere drone...this Mavic looks pretty cool.

I love the Mavic Pro, the easiest drone to fly. I got it last week, with a couple youtube videos I was up on the air, it handles very easy. impressive footage, I did my editing with Final Cut. EASY!!!!! all done in the same day. I went hiking; my bottle water was heavier then my Mavic Pro. I LOVE IT, great work DJI.

idk, benefit for karma is that the camera is removable along with the gimbal, so it's all purpose

but with the karma you have to have the gopro charged, the drone, and the controller. More to worry about and more steps to fly with a lot less offered

Possibly a deal with GoPro where they let him try out the Karma under the condition that he couldn't review the Mavic until Oct 18th? Either that, or like this: Casey was sent the drone and told not to talk about it, then someone leaked some info about the Mavic, so DJI just said screw it, since it's partially leaked and the Karma was announced, let's just announce it. I have no clue lol those are just my guesses.

It is not only about portability, but also about the content you can get with one of this drones. DJI Mavic will be blown away with a little beat of wind, when karma is not only foldable, but also is very powerful drone. I would take this in to consideration before comparing it to Mavic. Mavic's size is not only an advantage, but also it's biggest weakness.
