DIY Welding Positioner?, 2 steps forward, one step back

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

If you are considering making a welding positioner yourself, I am sure there is some educational benefit to watching this video.
Spoiler alert: I don't get the whole job done in this video, but I do show the successful manually rotated welding posiitoner that I made several years ago for a specific job. Most of this video shows thoughts and concerns about various cheap motor controllers and possible drive motors that might be used to complete a powered welding positioner.

DC motors often need more power to start than to run. If you use a rubber belt you can fit the motor speed to the weld turn speed inside the motor's power band. The rubber belt also discourages the weld current (even partly) flowing in the motor shaft and bearings.

You may notice that the treadmill motor/controller at about minute 4 of this video does NOT suffer from slow startup: kzread.info/dash/bejne/mYWhybSvha3Vnpc.html
